ABC/ESPN CFB Announcing Teams.... Announced
Pam Ward, Matt Millen and Craig James. Need I say more?
Awful Announcing provides commentary on the just announced pairings/teams. Most intriguing: Dave Pasch/Chris Spielman/Urban Meyer.
i just posted this, but because you directly posted the table, i'm willing to step aside and let my post "who said brad nessler left ABC?" get deleted.
...was about. I guess I should have given it a look. My bad.
Just put the table in your OP if there's a good discussion ongoing.
Haha no it's fine. You already got more comments. I think you had a better title.
Coincidentally, Craig James and Matt Millen are two of my least favorite announcers. Praying we usually get the Bob Davie and Bowischusen. Not optimistic though.
Another year of Pam Ward on ESPNU... instead of, you know, channels with good games
Please, please, no afternoon ESPNU games.
It usually sucks up the Baby Seal U games that might otherwise end up on ESPNU
as a human being
This is good for him, right? I'm biased, but I like his low-key style
Wouldn't mind seeing Davie replaced with Griese....also nice to see Spielman not being paired up with Ward
Danny Kannell is now officially the unluckiest man of the 2011 CFB season.
......the disemboweling cutlass comes out. I can see it.
He's probably the unluckiest announcer since Cotton McKnight
"Bold move Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for them."
"Pepper needs new shorts!"
Good/underrated movie. One of the best cameos ever with Lance, especially since they didn't advertise it like Hangover did with Tyson.
What in god's name did Sean McDonough do to suffer the fate of being paired with Millen?
at Heather Cox all day. She is not Giselle level, but I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers.
but i feel sorry for him
Former QB at FSU in the 90s. Pretty decent college player, stuck around for a few years in the NFL, IIRC. And yes, I feel sorry for him as well.
But getting paid to watch and discuss one football game a week sounds like a pretty good gig.
Good chance since the only other good game that week is Alabama at Penn St.
And gameday was at that game last year, so there is a good chance they will come to AA
According to MGoBlue.com, the Notre Dame game is going to be on ESPN. =/
ABC has NASCAR that weekend if I remember correctly.
Yes it was because of NASCAR. So would we get the ESPN night game or ABC night game announcers?
The Penn State-Alabama game starts at 3:30 on ABC. I would think they would get the ABC afternoon announcers and our game would get the ABC night game announcers.
Probably the ABC night game announcers of Musburger and Herbstreit
You are looking live at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Ugh Pam Ward
I like Brad Nessler. It's too bad that he gets stuck with Todd Blackledge, who just slows him down. They should re-create the pairing of Nessler and Greise.
Am I supposed to know who Clay Matvik is? Maybe it is because I am ordinarily at a live game on most CFB Saturdays.
And personally, I dislike Craig James just as much as the next Pirate-lovin' fan of Mike Leach. But I actually think that James is good at what he does, and Mike Patrick (who used to be paired with Blackledge) makes everybody around him look good. Mike Patrick and Nessler are probably the two most polished professionals on that list.
The best new lineup by far is Dave Pasch with Spielman and Urban Meyer. Those guys aren't much as broadcasters, (Pasch is okay) but those are some serious football chops.
What happened to the old Chicago-Green Bay warhorse, Wayne Larrivee? Is he on BTN?
I disagree. I think Todd Blackledge is a very good commentator. Mike Patrick used to bring him down, but with Nessler, he is reaching his potential.
Normally I dislike the sidebar spots they do, but "Todd's Taste of the Town" is pretty good. The crap he eats could kill a horse.
Blackledge food segments are some of the best things ESPN airs during college football games.
I seriously hope that you're joking. "Todd's taste of the town" is a prime example of what's wrong with ESPN. I couldn't possibly care less where the color guy eats his fucking dinner. Especially a guy with a flat personality like Todd Blackledge.
would you rather he eat people, hannibal?
Then again, Section 1's the guy that doesn't get Gus Johnson...
The guy does every game drunk
Andrews needs more parts, IMO. I'll listen to her talk about whateva.
I like her parts, would like to see more of them.
Brent needs to go...He makes me scream Ahhhhhhh my ears he sucks
He downgrades michigan and is kirk's boyfriend they live eachother....Go Blue!
Normally I'd just shake my head and scroll on down, but I have to ask: Are you 14?
Gay jokes are pretty dumb (see: today's UV) but if you're going to make a gay joke, at least make it semi creative. What does "they live eachother" even mean? I'm not sure if you meant "They love each other" which is a sweet sentiment, or if you meant "they live with each other" which just seems to be a wholly unnecessary cost cutting measure implemented by ESPN and/or a pretty sound financial decision.
The Meyer/Spielman paring is going to give me nightmares of seeing Meyer as head coach and Spielman as LB coach in Columbus next year. I would like to thank ESPN in advance for many sleepless nights.
Beth Mowins is terrible too. ESPN should ban women as the play-by-play person.
And why wouldn't anyone love Brent's "You are looking live..." opening. Sure, maybe he takes a sip and makes a little wager every now and again, but he's classic.
an ass of himself every time he announces the third play of the game as "this could be the most important play today!" Brent Musberger is a tool.
someday they will pair matt millen and pam ward on espnu
misery loves company
Then they will fall in love & make beautiful, inteligent children.
Who the heck is Beth Mowins???? And how mad is our man Pam that she's no longer the go-to token female (and I use that term generously) announcer?
God that announcing lineup sucks. Disney -- never missing out on a chance to prove that they no longer have anything to offer the world of sports. The only good play-by-play guys on there are guys that have been doing play-by-play for 20+ years. Everyone since then is a sideline reporter or studio personality that ESPN shoehorned into the booth. Ron Franklin is out. Pam Ward and Beth Mowins are in. Dave Pasch is decent, so that probably means he will never call a big game for Disney.
