One Frame At A Time: Northwestern
Note: Trying a new style with these gifs posts—aside from the first image, you will need to click on the stills to open the animated gifs in a "lightbox" (like the videos in UFRs). This should alleviate most of the bandwith issues.
Within mere seconds of Pat Fitzgerald's reaction to getting the fourth-quarter late hit call on Trevor Siemian, my Twitter timeline flooded with requests for a gif. I was still working, however, and in the meantime the indispensable Tim Burke (@bubbaprog) captured the moment. If you're looking for the straightforward gif, click there. If you'd like to know the real reason why Fitzgerald was so damn excited, look no further:
[COME ON DOWN below THE JUMP for the rest of this week's gifs.]
Devin Gardner showed once again that he's a pretty decent athlete, too, scoring Michigan's first touchdown after laying out for the pylon (remember, click the image for the full gif):
This sparked another Denard/Devin dap gif:
Northwestern was able to score just before the half, and Pat Fitzgerald's celebration sensei was revealed:
In the second half, Devin Funchess did Devin Funchess things:
And then, of course, all HAM broke loose. Here's the broadcast angle of Roy Roundtree's catch:
Replay #1:
Replay #2:
Kenny Demens ended it with a crushing hit on 4th and 2. Broadcast view:
And replays from all angles, including Coyote-vision:
Brady Hoke was pleased:
Will Hagerup, Gif Legend, perhaps even moreso:
Other than the above, though, that sure was a boring November football game.

Price is Right gif:
EDIT: The Wiley Coyote gif is equally awesome.

I could watch that Price is Right .gif for hours.
Though I actually thought he was gonna get flagged for taunting Beyer...
November 12th, 2012 at 11:05 AM ^
Man, Demens made the hit, but Black made that play on 4th and 2.
November 12th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
And the NW o-lineman had two hands full of his jersey. Seriously...one angle (backfield view) shows Black's jersey pulled down to almost knee level.

1st LOL of the week on Fitz Price is Right
To bad he didn't win the showcase...
For Hoke, a possible trip to...
For Fitz, a life time supply of...

Funchess wasn't in on the hail mary. The WRs were Dileo-Gallon-Roundtree-Jackson, and all 4 lined up for the spike. Did he just meander onto the field or something? Either way, I just looked over it and unfortunately there is no epic roll from the broadcast.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:36 AM ^
Very weird. He could have maybe ran on the field briefly after the play expecting to be a part of the spike. Or maybe it was Jackson who rolled off and I misread his number (17 could be read as 19) mid-flight. That being said I'm almost positive it was him, as a friend who was sitting like 7 spots away from me brought up "Funchess's dive" after the Roundtree catch after the game.
[Edit: Nope, Jackson was on the field during the spike]
November 12th, 2012 at 11:38 AM ^
I sit a long way from the dive, but it looked like Funchess to me too. Also, while making GIF requests, Jibreel Black dancing across the field before the 4 th down stop was epic, but doubt that was caught on camera.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:52 AM ^
I'm almost positive it was too, it just wish there was video of it.
In the replay you can kind of Funchess running off the field (mind you I don't know why he was on it in the first place)
During the replay at about 1:12:38 you can see someone sprint across the field like 10 seconds or so before the snap, and it looks a lot like Funchess's build (but I couldn't read the number) and also he appears to have the same cleats as Funchess.

Prior to the last play, Michigan called timeout and Northwestern false-starts. There is a shot of Hoke on the sideline asking the ref if he could get the timeout back. The ref obviously said no, and it looks like Hoke smacks him on the ass. 1:27:00 of the video embedded above.
November 12th, 2012 at 2:58 PM ^
...plus the look on Hoke's face as the ref tells him no is priceless.

The view from the back endzone is my favorite. So good.

all hail Coyote-vision!

Are you serious? It's pretty amazing and required a huge amount of focus for Roundtree to come down with that ball at all. It seems a little silly to criticize him for not catching it more securely when he caught it basically behind his head against his shoulder.
November 12th, 2012 at 12:16 PM ^
butt every time he jumped.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:26 AM ^
Did Robinson get a little twinge doing his handslap return with Devin? It looked like he was going along and then went....owwwwwwwww.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:30 AM ^
I thought the exact same thing during the broadcast. It looks like he kind of painfully flexes and shakes his right hand after celebrating.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:30 AM ^
Nope—thought that at first, too, but he just got caught in the cord from his headset. If I'd made the gif a little longer that would be more apparent.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:33 AM ^
Ah, awesome. I just assumed that he dinged it, and hoped that it wasn't something that would amount to anything. Good to hear it was literally nothing.
November 12th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
...stated during his MMQB slot on The Michigan Insider this morning. Twitter blew up when TV showed this celebration stating that Denard twinged his elbow. Recommend extending the gif to show him reaching for his cord.

I'm not sure if I saw any emotion from Fitzgerald after they scored the touchdown on the same drive yet he couldn't contain himself for a late hit...
November 12th, 2012 at 11:28 AM ^
during that last quarter were all over the place.
When NW took the lead with 1:09 left, I was all...
Then the Roundtree catch...
Then the Demen's 4th and 2 tackle, I was all like...
November 12th, 2012 at 11:33 AM ^
On the catch (first gif version) rather than congradulate / celebrate with Roundtree that insane catch, he immediately turns around and starts signaling for the rest of the team to hurry their butts downfield so they can spike the ball to kill the clock. Great situational awareness for him in what was probably an extremely emotional moment. I'm sure I wouldn't have had that level of focus.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:57 AM ^
I signed in to make this exact same observation. Instead, I will just thank Ace for immortalizing Hagerup's mad tongue action in gif form.
November 12th, 2012 at 11:46 AM ^
I like the way you did the click-to-see GIFs this week.
Also, who are these people jumping up and down celebrating? Black pants and white shoes? That whole scene is a mess.

After Beyer hit him and the subsequent flag that followed I ran my head into a wall and was stuck in it and I could not see his (NW coach) reaction.

I'd like to think you're making your avatar's facial expression upon seeing your tridecuple post.
If so, then I'm alright with it.

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

You must still be suffering head trauma. Mind deleting those 18 posts that repeat?

I don't even know the word for 13 of the same posts. Mind Blown.
