from Clarkston to join in on a "welcome back Jim party") that goes long into the night... Go Blue!

|3 weeks 13 hours ago||I agree with Mullen being a fine candidate||
but when you bring up that Gator Bowl in peticular you lose me. Toledo put us in our place, it might not have been that year but it was the same defense. IIRC that was the year that the Illinois fiasco was the win that made us bowl eligable. During the RR years (with the exception of the first) the defense was soooo bad "How bad was it ?"you had to take Trig. to be able to keep score.

with Bert or Ernie on the sidelines. Shit Big Bird could get this team into the conference championship next year. The schedule and the upper classmen combined with a good coach should be enough to help this team get over the hump. I would think this job to be very attractive to anyone looking at the four and five star recruits on the roster absolutely aching to live up to their billing.....Next year should be fun. Go Blue!!!

I was no longer sure that RR was the guy for this school or for any other for that matter. I would totally exept what Dave Brandon did and when he chose Brady Hoke I was not happy. My first comment was "Oh great now instead of losing 56-45 we will lose 24-20". Needless to say I was unhappy. Then Brady starts bringing in some of the best recruits I had seen since Moeller was the coach so I said lets have some patients and see what this guy can do.
Now 3 years later we are losing 22-24 to Rutgers on the road and I am ready for another change. So I will not say RR was the guy because of what he is doing in AZ. Nor will I say Hoke was the guy should he go off and win again. All I can say is neither could win here and thats all that matters. Bring me a coach who can turn Hokes players into champions while simultaniously recruiting his own top recruits and coach them up and it won't matter where or what RR has done at AZ. nor will it matter that Hoke is winning where ever he goes. In other words it's all spilled milk to me, bring me a guy who can win at UM and nothing else matters.

and a great game against that OSU team that year no doubt. After watching this though, you can easily see what Brady's team is not doing well this season and won't do well tomorrow. Just look at that PUSH those O lineman are getting against that OSU D line. Holes big enough to get there own zip code Fergodsakes. I know that line was as close to a NFL caliber line the NCAA will allow with players like Zach Adami and Jon Jansen just to name two off the top of my head, but they were mean and played with attitude another thing we have missed all season this year.

than MSU doing that (scoring a last second TD) to us. Is when we last beat the Sparties, we had just kicked a field goal to go up on them late at the end of the game. Then there was some time (not sure how much exactly) to kick them the ball but not enough time for them to march the field. So they tried to pull off the rugby return and fumbled and bungled there way all the way back to their own goal line. where they fumbled once again and UM fell on it. Instead of UM shoving the football up the Sparties ass and add to the score, we respectfully took a knee and let the time run out.
I have had it with rivals trying to make losses look or feel worse by scoring at the end of these games. Remember when reporters asked ole Woody Hayes why at the end of a Ohio State beatdown of UM he went for two instead of kicking the extra point? He said "because they woudn't let us go for three". I will not die until we shove that ball straight up Dantonio' ass, then I can rest in peace anytime after that.

Are you sure that was the Dalai Lama and not Ted Nugent?
|4 weeks 5 hours ago||Tough to say IMHO (without being labeled paranoid)||
I believe that the ESS EEE SEE has a big advantage because of many reasons, like good coaching, southern weather, bagmen, ESPN sport center programming, professers who turn a blind eye, professors who are afraid of a black eye, police officers who can turn a blind eye, ok rampent cheating. and a need under any circumstances to beat the best non SEC football teams in the country.
I also believe if this isn't addressed it will be the fall of college football, or morf into professional wrastling. Can you say BO BO Brazil or Dick the Bruiser? See what I mean, paranoid, right?
|4 weeks 6 hours ago||That is exactly why||
people feel his defense has been "under-whelming". The constent short fields due to sudden changes and pick six turnovers were alarming the last couple years. What I can not understand is why the offense either did not feel they were alarming or were unable to correct that problem and give "The Team" a better chance at winning.
Greg Mattison deserves more credit than he will get just for keeping this defense together while their record stays below 50%. Ironically these type of awards go out to coaches whose teams have records well above 50% because of the thought that the defense is the reason for the teams succsess. I feel if we have learned anything this year is that this is a team sport. So I wish him luck in this award but at the same time I am not sure he is going to get it.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||This has nothing to do with post||
So I apologize in advance but. Who in the hell can neg a guy who has over one million upvotes? He has to feel like the Maytag repairman everytime he negs this guy.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Leave it to Greg Mattison||
He put Jake in the middle and bam, one of the top 5 LB's in the country. Good luck to both of them in the future. I personally will miss both of them should Greg have to move on.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||I just up-voted the"Turd"||
|4 weeks 5 days ago||It all depends on the coach||
I love the job coach Mattison has done with the D. I have never seen a defense hold together with all the sudden changes they were put through. I agree with most about Manning although I think he should be a recruiter. I was not very impressed with the DB's at all. So if the coach wanted to keep a couple guys around those two would be the only people I would be OK with IMHO.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||No chance at either of those this year||
Hopefully to get through next year we will have both of them in our pocket.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Wow have times changed||
what did Bo need in pay to coach here, a hundred grand a year? Him and his coaching tree lasted about 35 years. UM has got away with under paying coaches for a long time and now I guess it's to ante up.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Barrett 90 + yard TD run||
early before everyone gets to their seats (in their living room seats) early. Says to me UM will hang with Ohio early because of their defense but with the usual 2 to 4 interceptions it should be in the bag for OSU after your second beer.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||DG's pick that almost killed UM 4 good||
He sat back in the pocket with enough time to go to the bathroom during a UM -Ohio State game at the big house ten years ago. Then as Bo Dever got himself so wide open my wife could have thrown it to him. He promply waits till he was covered then threw it to the Northwestern player who almost turned it into pic 6. I think that pass (near the end of his fifth year) says alot about what the offense has had to endure this year. I know this is a team sport but that was the entire team doing their part and one player with his head buried up his @$$ inexcusable.
One last thing that scares the hell outta me is Hoke and co. have not prepared another five star (red shirt freshman or true sophmore) QB that can come in and replace him. Talk about John Navarre! give me a break. " I cannot stress how bad a performance this was". Amen Brian, Amen.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||John U was sent to Bolivia? Now he's back!||
Who's next Lloyd Carr? How rediculous. John U is one of the first people I think of when we ask, who is a Michigan Man? He's right up there with Bo, Lloyd, Moeller, Hoke, Brian.....Who ever sent John U to Bolivia should step down or resign IMHO.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||Wow MD needs to take it down a notch||
its not good for him getting his blood pressure up about everything UM might do or say about MSU. I can say this I have had a quadruple bipass and have been told till the cows come home not to get my jock all up in a bunch. (Pun intended) He remembers stuff I forgot about then says without actually saying it but still there was no mistaking it... We shoved that spear right up their ass's, which will be a non starter because they can twist our players heads around litterally and nobody says a word about it. When they apoligize for trying to take Denards head off maybe we will stop laughing at everything this guy says.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||I agree with 98% of Alum 96's fandom with the exception of||
I quit watching the Lions lose after Demsey's 63 yard field goal that broke all Lion fans hearts. That was so long ago that the only thing I like about pro football now is when former UM players get their due like, Super bowl MVPs, Super bowl wins, Pro bowl invites, all the way down to just a good game. As for my college opines it's like I said in my title Alum 96 has spoke for me.
|10 weeks 3 hours ago||I agree no parallel move||
I think without the (homerun coach) a better question is who can we get to replace Funk? At seasons end we must replace Funk, I am tired of teams out rushing us with the less talented lineman and running backs. If it weren't for our defense, rushing totals would really look alot worse.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Don that line caught my eye as well||
It made me want to rip my eyes out. There is absolutely no excuse for there to be a vast coaching difference between any school much less OSU. Coaching should be one of the strengths of UM football not a weakness.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||POS you just because||
Walter was so effing funny in an equally funny movie "The Big Lebowski". That movie is a classic in the same league as Blazing Saddles or Caddy Shack IMHO.
The Eagles! no way man, I can't stand the Eagles! change the station... Paraphrasing here but you get what "The Dude" was saying to his cabbie.
If you were a product of the 70's like myself, you would understand why you never have to hear the Eagles again.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||I am paraphrasing a dig from J U Bacon on WTKA Friday||
Michigan needs to turn Gary (Super) Nova into Gary (Chevy) Nova to win this game. You hear me D line I am talking to you. Not at all supposed to be a quote from Mr Bacon I'm trying to be funny in a time where nothing is very funny any more. Go Blue
|12 weeks 3 days ago||This offensive line is just that||
OFFENSIVE! I have to say I don't know whether Brady Hoke can right this ship, but now I tend to doubt it. At the end of last year I was willing to give Brady his 4th year, because I have enjoyed the recruiting classes he has brought in and felt that yeah we would not win the B1G in this, his 3rd year. Now, wow I am not so sure, I have seen the team regress yet another year and one of the best players on the O line is a true freshman and I am thinking the credit is due to his high school coaches. I really thought the poor play was a direct corralation to the average age or experience (too many freshman) on the team. I do know that Jim or John Harbaughs O Line would never look this bad and in no way do they do such a poor job coaching the last 3 years that a true freshman would have any chance playing in his first year. I hate to beat a dead bush and repeat this mantra going around but I feel I have to. Coach Hoke seems like a great recruiter and a better man but I am afraid he is in over his head as a head coach.
I understand that Notre Dame had played quite a few freshman and sophmores when they ate our lunch (or dinner it was kinda late). If we could entice Jim or John to come coach this team I really believe we would have a great chance to keep our current recruiting class and most of the players that are playing today. Transfers and decommits (hopefully) would be kept to a minimum as well. If Dave Brandon is in the way of a Harbaugh hire than he (Brandon) can go too. Yes I believe Minnesota is a better team than people are giving them credit for but that is because they keep getting better with Jerry Kill as the head coach in what is his 2nd or 3rd year. Sorry coach I agree you are a great guy and would never try to call you out for integrity issues but I think your time is up.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||I have heard this before||
Who ever it is he will play the game of his life and only have one incompletion..Ok standard answer, UM might want to draw up a couple of blitz plays that are well disquised and use em Saturday rattle him early and often.. Go Blue!!!
|13 weeks 3 days ago||I agree with uncle Fred (not my uncle)||
The coaches on this team should be able to say the word "Execution" without the fear of being executed himself in the media. That isn't the only problem but it is obvoius to any long time fan of UM football is they used to execute much better to get into the Rose Bowl, National champion talk. I understand these young men are undeserving of their being called out by name. What bothers me though are the coaches getting touchy with a legitimate question about the little things going wrong. Like not waiting for an onside kick when it was the only way App. St. could get back in the game.
Back when B1G championships were almost every other year, the UM football team I knew waited for their opponents to make a mistake and then cut their throat with it. It usually happened in the 4th quarter. I feel these coaches are recruiting just like "back when".They have done an awesome job at recruiting top talent to the university so I really want to give these guys Brady Hoke, Mattison, Doug Nussmier, thecornerback coach whose name is escaping me, their 4th year with their first full SR recruiting class they will be graduating at the end of next season. If next year we are talking about this "back when", "execution", "little things going wrong" I say we pack it in and start the coach search.
