People say he wasn't a big deal for fans to get worked up about, but he seemed like a lower risk option than what Michigan is dealing with. I'll chalk it up to a Drevno transition cost.
Seems like a reasonable trade from our end.
Yeah...sumpn wasn't working with Drevno. I listened to Sam's interview yesterday and Calvin Anderson seemed like a really bright kid with his head screwed on right. We will have to make do with what we have. I'm sure hoping that Shea is able to play as I'm not convinced that Peters will take us to the promised land. Perhaps if he weren't about to get killed on every play, things would improve, but Harbaugh was not in a hurry to put him in after Speight was injured.
Young and inexperienced, sure. But very talented.
JBB, Ulizio, and Runyan are known quantities with another summer to improve.
Filiaga, Hudson, Honigford, and Steuber are coming off redshirts. I don't think its likely that zero of those guys are ready to contribute.
Add in a coaching staff shakeup, and the proverbial light bulb is going to switch on for a couple of these guys. They'll be alright.
Many of us are just over hope and potential. We want wins, specifically against our rivals. Until that happens folks will remain salty.
LTT??? Now that’s funny! He didn’t pan out?
Does that mean Shea ineligible?? When are we going to know? umbig11
what is the asterisk?
It means no message other than the title.
It's just a style thing some people do.

Thanks. I didn't know what it meant either.
Signifies steroid use. Did you not watch baseball in the early 2000's?
Definition of asterisk
- But the men's triumph came with an asterisk: The Soviets, three-time gold medalists, had boycotted the Games.
- —Brad Young
It means he was always staying home. But he wanted a little attention and the fun of being courted by famous coaches. Can't say I blame him.
...is probably very true. Rice was his offer list coming out of high school.
He wanted to be courted by "famous coaches" and we sent DREVNO?!
FAIL!

Speaking of being courted, I hope this doesn't affect the basketball program.
but dude was NEVER coming to Ann Arbor. Too far from Mommy.
but you can't blame him for checking out other options, especially if he was being pursued by UM, etc.
He was always going to Texas. Austin kid that grew up a Texas fan and now has his shot.
Any speculation or rumors on other graduate transfers? If I remember correctly, there were some murmurs about a possible transfer from an SEC school.
The Florida kid is staying home.
You could tell we weren't in it when Dudek is the first thing he mentions about Michigan. That Sam Webb interview made that clear.
Yeah Dudek sucks. At least the Tuoti, Gwen Bush, Fisch, Wheatley staff could get results. Now we have a bunch of washed up Florida, Browns, and Lions guys like Pep Hamilton, Jim Mcelwain, and Ron Prince.
I'm going to reserve judgment on McElwain.
Dudek hasn't been the problem.
Dudek is the on-campus guy who plans visits and shows kids around when they're in Ann Arbor. Players love him.
Seemed like a smart kid in the Sam Webb interview, but a little strange that he insisted on making a point that proximity “had zero to do with his decision making process.” And he “couldn’t believe he had to keep answering that question.” Then he goes to Texas? Just weird, and further proof you can’t believe a word these kids say.
At least he didn't say it was about the engineering program.
Not a surprise
Wake me up when this staff can land a key OL piece.
Ed Warriner is a key OL piece. Losing Drevno was a positive. Hayes and Mayfield are great prospects.
Couldn't agree more.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting before the year is up.
Hudson is big, strong, agile and aggressive - maybe even a little nastiness. That sounds like UM linemen in years gone by. I expect him to win the RT job.
Mobile, agile, hostile.
What are you basing this on?
I do however, know what he is biasing it on.
What we need is not some magic solution to drop into our laps, but for our coaches to get our talented players up to their potential. I'm excited to see what Warinner does with our young guys!
How many years of eligibility does Warriner have left?
All of them, baby!
His name though.
Both had good credentials coming to UM. And, Bosch, Fox, Kalis, Kugler, Dawson, LTT, etc. were all great prospect that never panned out. For whatever reason OL has been our achilles heel despite a bunch of quality prospects and coaches. I think a lot of folks want to believe that and at times do, but have just seen too many disapointments.
Maybe it wasn't the coaching but the strength and conditioning of said linemen.
I've seen plenty of good strength coaches make a positive impact on football players, but I've never seen one take a good player and make them worse.
Bredeson, Ruiz and Onwenu certainly qualify as key OL pieces. We'll soon find out if Hudson and Stueber do as well.
That interior is going to maul people. Assuming Shea is eligible, his mobility will mask some of the issues we may potential have at tackle. I am not too worried.
We even have depth with Spanellis.
