I get it...but you'll have to excuse me if I worry about an April night in Michigan. Best case is clear skies and like 40 degrees.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:08 AM ^
So then it feels like November in Michigan, which sounds awesome to me
March 20th, 2018 at 11:11 AM ^
Yeeeaahh but I know it's not. If Penn State is coming to scrimmage us then I'll feel like it's November. If it's over 50 then I won't bitch, but man would I prefer to watch a meaningless game in 60 degrees as opposed to 40.

If there was ever an event that does not need to be at night, it's the Spring Game.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:07 AM ^
I went to the last Spring night game, and I had a GREAT time there -- my first one, by the way. We had absolutely beautiful (near perfect) weather for that one, so I'm hoping for the same this year.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:22 AM ^
I Hope it’s 65 or higher, no rain and light wind.
OP. Thanks for adding the date.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:57 AM ^
isn't going to be 65 or higher in Michigan this year until May. We are in for a slow, cold Spring.
March 20th, 2018 at 12:02 PM ^
Thanks Jetstream John.
at the long term forecast. They aren't even projecting consistent 50s until the last week of April. Don't shoot the messenger. It is going to be cold as balls. Cold balls, that is. Not warm balls.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
Here come the pansies to bitch about the weather when it'll be the same temperature as Fall.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:20 AM ^
In the fall it matters and you paid for your ticket.
March 20th, 2018 at 12:04 PM ^
So you're bitching about a free event that you're not required to attend?
March 20th, 2018 at 12:20 PM ^
Nope. I’m just saying if people want to be picky about weather for a game that doesn’t matter I’m cool with it.
Delete. Replied to the wrong comment.
no sure how sparty and the nuts somehow get tickets every other year. April 1 was at night and it worked out. Was actually a nice evening ... just like Fall!!!

7PM tonight?
March 20th, 2018 at 11:26 AM ^
Does this allow tv broadcast to be live?
March 20th, 2018 at 11:55 AM ^
Yes, per mgoblue.com, there's no shortage of options...
"will be televised live by BTN ... live broadcast on BTN2Go, ... Fox Sports Go ... broadcast in its entirety on WXYT Radio (97.1 FM in Detroit) ... radio broadcast will also be streamed on MGoBlue.com."

A basketball school.
March 20th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
To be absolutely fair, if we stuck to the normal pattern of basketball scheduling, the Spring Game would be on a Wednesday at 9 PM, which in the month of April can still be an iffy time to be outside. Definitely a lose-lose proposition potentially, at least in that respect, or damned if you do, damned if you don't, however you choose to look at it.

Smarmy. At this point with the football program, it's "show me." I used to get ramped up about spring games and off-season conditioning and all that. It's just time to win something.

On Harbaugh's podcast today he talked about the struggles his team had with night games last year. It came up in the context of UMBB playing late at night. Harbaugh quipped that they really ought to be asking Beilein about how to keep the team prepared for late games. Seems reasonable that the 7pm start is to help simulate a gameday with a late kick. Practice, they doing this for practice man.

That's how you get to Carnegie Hall.

will conflict with my re-watching of our national championship triumph over Duke
March 20th, 2018 at 11:43 AM ^
Might have to make it an overnight trip. Anyone know if there will be tours of Schem Hall prior to the game?
March 20th, 2018 at 11:48 AM ^
Glad they stuck with it.
March 20th, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
Don't we always know the date? Isn't the spring "game" 14 days prior to spring commencement every single year?
I'm not sure why people keep being surprised by the date. I will tell you today that the 2019 spring "game" will be April 20, because spring commencement is May 4, 2019.
a few years ago, but maybe you're right, I can't recall when spring commencement was that year...
btw, weather was horrible that day. Sideways freezing rain, cloudy, 50 mph winds...It was awesome!
March 20th, 2018 at 12:17 PM ^
And I'm quite sure the ND game will be at night.
March 20th, 2018 at 12:29 PM ^
the softball game doesn't go into extra innings.
March 20th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
Looking forward to the halftime ovation for the hoops 2018 National Champs.
WD LOVES NIGHT GAMES !!!
Someone you keep an eye out for.
On Shea Patterson's eligibility for next season? The waiting is interminable...
also avoids an afternoon conflict with the Suckeyes. Their spring game is on the same day with an estimated 145 PM start time. UM-OSU lacrosse will play in the World's Largest Toilet Bowl at 11 AM that day. Now we get nighttime BTN coverage.
March 21st, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
Why do we need to keep dodging them by playing at night?
Hold it at a different time during the day, or hold it on a diffferent day.
Or just hold it whenever the hell we want, and let the chips fall where they may.
Night game in April, that’s a hard pass for taking my kids. Liked it a lot better in the afternoon, who cares if it’s aired live. I also miss the old fan event they did. A few years ago my daughter was able to get just about every players autograph.
