Green Owl is definitely one…

Green Owl is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Madison.

Not much to add on top of…

Not much to add on top of what's already been said. You can't go wrong walking up and down State St,  visiting the Farmer's Market on Saturday, and getting a view from the top of the Capitol Building (free). I would also recommend grabbing a pitcher of beer at the Memorial Union. If you're here during the week, Concerts on the Square is a neat event where you can set up a chair/blanket, picnic, and listen to a live orchestra (Wednesdays in the summer).

Madison is a very bikeable city so if you're into biking, you can always rent B-Cycles for the weekend to get around which is a nice way to see the Isthmus.

I would say The Curve is…

I would say The Curve is closer to Fleetwood Diner if you're looking for a greasy spoon. It's my go-to breakfast spot and is near the Villas/Bay Creek neighborhoods but it is a cash-only diner.

Mickey's Dairy Bar, not to be mistaken with Mickey's Tavern, has good large pancakes and milkshakes. It often has a line out the door on Saturday mornings but might not be as busy during the summer.

I think they're under the impression that Corum has been demoted as opposed to injured for the past couple of weeks. This along with the 7-year Dax Hill comment show that some of these podcasts do almost no opposition research.

These two comments get my stamp of approval. I would just add Tipsy Cow also has the best burgers in Madison (although some will say Doty Dumplings which is also good), and sadly Avenue Club, which had the best cheese curds, closed down.

If you're looking for a bar the night before the game, State St will have the most fans, students, and best game weekend environment. It's filled with college bars and restaurants.

Regent St. has a ton of tailgating and bars on game day. One option is to arrive a bit early and go to breakfast at the Curve (cash only diner). There is free street parking in the neighborhood around S Brooks St. and S Mills St which is about a mile from the stadium but fills up eventually. After breakfast, walk to Regent for drinks at one of the bars, then head to the stadium for kick-off.

If you're into craft breweries and a little quieter scene, Working Draft, Giant Jones, Old Sugar Distillery, and Vintage on E Washington (good food and fish fry) are all close together and have a wide selection of beer. You could walk to them all if you're ambitious.

Did we retreat from Ann…

Did we retreat from Ann Arbor and try to give it to Wisconsin? It looks like they had 70 players/85 stars attack Ann Arbor which implies the non-aggression pact wasn't effective last turn or that it was part of the plan.

Actually, as an interesting…

Actually, as an interesting piece of history, Wisconsin was once part of the Michigan Territory.

I had a buddy from Texas visit the UP and describe it as the Texas of the north. maybe they're trying to stake a claim before we come back.

I've been more impressed with some of their younger receivers than I ever was with Jazz Peavy.

Madison has a lot of very

Madison has a lot of very good restaurants and bars and is centered on the Capitol Building. East of the Capitol Square is State St where there are a lot of student restaurants and bars. It’s fairly similar to South U and State St in Ann Arbor. West and north/west is King St, Willy St and Attwood. I made a list of some of my favorite places. One thing to note is that some places might be cash only and if you go to a bar you should get cheese curds.

Atwood:

* One Barrel Brewing Company – My favorite Madison Brewery. However, they don’t serve food

* Tex Tubb’s Taco Palace – Right next door to One Barrel. They have good Tex-Mex.

* Green Owl Café – Good vegetarian restaurant

* Chocolaterian Café – Pastries and hot chocolate for dessert

* Monty’s Blue Plate Diner – Iconic Madison restaurant with great pie!

Willy St (Williamson St) Area:

* Old Sugar Distillery – Very good specialty drinks.

* Bos Meadery – The only meadery I’ve visited. I liked their mead and they’re owned by a Michigan alum.

Capitol Building Region:

There are a ton of bars and restaurants around the capital. Some are a bit more upscale while others are truly dive bars.

* Essen Haus – Food is pretty good. If you come here, get a boot of beer to share with friends. It’s a fun experience.

* The Great Dane – One of the iconic restaurants in Madison. They have a good beer selection and a variety of food.

* Morris Ramen – Very affordable and tasty ramen.

* Tipsy Cow – I’ve heard they have good food. This is a bar that has a log of young professionals.

* Genna’s Lounge – Another good bar. Also has a lot of young professionals.

* The Old Fashion – One of the most iconic restaurants for Wisconsin food. They also have a nice beer selection.

* Lucille – Good pizza and good drinks.

* Coopers Tavern – They have very good food and a nice bar

State St:

I’m not going to call anything out on State St. I would recommend walking down State St to get a view of campus and the Capitol Building. It has a lot of nice bars, restaurants, cafes, and stores, but they’re typically more student focused.

Miscellaneous:

* Green Bush Bar – They have great pizza and drinks. It’s a little less known, and there will be a wait. Last time I was there they had Black Rocks beer from Marquette so they have my loyalty.

Neighborhood Parking

I live about a mile from the stadium in the Vilas neighborhood. There is generally some street parking available until an hour or two before the game with spots closer to Regent St being taken first. If you don't want to walk, I would suggest one if the paid options closer to the stadium.

Word from my Tech friends who

Word from my Tech friends who follow hockey is that he's happy to be back at his alma mater. We have a bet going on if he will return to Michigan or not, but I'm not certain he would come to Ann Arbor if he was offered.

I’m going to one of the

I’m going to one of the Michigan games in the Kohl center. You better not have jinxed this for me.

In Hoke's Defense

I didn’t realize there was a roughing the passer penalty initially then saw Shane walking away with a limp. I assumed that his ankle, which he had hurt earlier, was tweaked again. He definitely shouldn’t have been put back out on the field once Devin’s helmet came off but I could easily believe that Hoke didn’t realize there was a head injury after Shane’s hit to the head.

Clyde's Drive-In in St. Ignace

I've heard good things about Clyde's Drive-In for burgers in St. Ignace although I have yet to stop there.

I only watched the last 10

I only watched the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half, but it was a terribly slow game with all the fouls.

Well that’s debatable. There

Well that’s debatable. There are basically two trains of thought...

I think this actually

I think this actually explains a lot. I didn't mind the reffing because I thought it was fairly consistent with some bad calls going both ways. What was disappointing for me was the style of reffing really seemed to be perfect Louisville's game. They allowed a lot of contact on the dribble and let Louisville be very aggressive on their press but seemed to call fouls for little contact when driving to the basket. I was talking to my friend about this right as Burke got called for his phantom block and it seemed to reinforce my point. I didn’t come away from that game thinking the refs cost Michigan the game for any of their calls but I think a different officiating crew with different style would have definitely favored us.

This has probably been the

This has probably been the greatest week I've had on campus. It's amazing the positive impact this team's success had on the campus environment this week. Go Blue!

Denard 2nd Attempt

He ran a 4.45 for his second attempt.

I don't remember what the

I don't remember what the time was in the game but I feel like the 10 second run off could have helped us when we played SC. I thought one of their players got injured and it ended up helping them save a bit of time.

They just seemed deflated.

They just seemed deflated. It's a young team grinding through the BIG. I think if they have some time to rest they'll be a much better team but I'm not sure if they'll get that opportunity.

I thought that he was

I thought that he was supposed to be a merson with a lot of raw potential but hadn't played football for very long. If he can improve this year maybe he'll receive that bump.

Those are 3 of my worst

Those are 3 of my worst memories in basketball. The 3 Wisconsin scored a few years ago wasn't very deep but it was an ugly shot. We forced the ball away from Wisconsin's top scorer then one of their poor 3 point shooters banked it in on a rushed shot.

Seems odd if they don't let

Seems odd if they don't let him recommit as he hasn't even finished his Junior year. Give him time and maybe he would come back but oh well.

Yeah, I think if he had more

Yeah, I think if he had more 100 dollar bills they would be more prominent. I think it's odd when people post pictures like this but I wouldn't start making assumptions on where it came from. He’s still in high school so there’s no need to make assumptions about his character.

Well for everyone who says

Well for everyone who says they never pick the Michigan hat when they announce we now have Derrick Green as a counter example!

No he just hit the 2 inches

No he just hit the 2 inches in 20 days growth spurt that's common among kids his age.

I'll admit it was a bit of a

I'll admit it was a bit of a stretch and poorly explained. However, the point I was trying to make was even when you're winning can't get complacent and have to work hard to stay on top. It's too easy to stay with the status quo become soft and fall behind.

“When your team is winning,

“When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing” - Bo

That's why you still make changes when winning.

Very late response on my part but I completely agree with what you said. No complaints here.

Although it's not an early enrolee I thought Dantonio pulled a scholarship a few years back after the kid had moved into his dorm.

I thought the reffing was

I thought the reffing was actually fairly consistent (for the first game I've watched when playing OSU). It was a physical game and both teams got lucky on a few fouls that helped them out. As far as basketball games go I really can't complain about the reffing this game although not counting Trey's shot at the end really hurt a bit.

And not that it mattered but

And not that it mattered but WOW, Burke's final shat was amazing. Too bad it didn't come a possession earlier.

I'm glad to see us at least

I'm glad to see us at least dig ourselves out of a hole. The past few years I think that's something we've been good at and I was wondering if it would still be there with a lot of new players. Hopefully next time it happens it also comes with a win.

Definitely not proper English but what is proper English nowadays. English has become such a diverse language with many different dialects that if you can listen, understand, and even quote what he said then I think he's doing fine.
