Wisconsin WRs George Rushing, Jazz Peavy No Longer With Team

Submitted by Caesar on

Holy smokes. Apparently, reporters figured this out on Thursday (RELINK) (full URL: https://www.landof10.com/wisconsin/wisconsin-football-george-rushing-ja…).

Those were some quiet dismissals.

HT to Magnus:

Peavy had 5 catches for 50-some yards this year.

Danny Davis - the true freshman - is averaging like 20 yards/catch.

I think it is suppoosed to be 好彩 haocai which is part of a word that means "good luck" (好彩頭 haocaitou) -- but the person who did the tattoo got the second character reversed, like in a mirror.

So, to sum up, double fail: incomplete (two-thirds) word, backward character.

An object lesson on trusting your tattoo artist with the Chinese written word.

The reversed image the artist copied was probably brushwork calligraphy, so not real clear to begin with. I just got home and looked up haocai 好彩 by itself in 漢語大詞典. It's an archaic word for good luck, good fortune, so it's okay by itself in a tattoo.

I feel SpinachAssassin's pain. You can't unsee that. Might be a sense of good humor on the part of the dancer, though. It makes me think of the laughing Buddha -- you rub his belly for good luck, wealth, and health...

When I was on a tour of China in Guilin; a boy came up and patted me on the stomach. I finally figured out that he was saying "Happy Buddha; Happy Buddha."

Well, yes, but that's how it's been all season it seems.

A team with so few passes to WRs must suck, right? Trying to think of another team that has shockingly little going on with their WRs...

EDIT: Ah yeah, forgot they lost their other WR recently. But the same in regards to the guys in the article.
