Or keep commercials and…

Or keep commercials and reward teams with 1 point if they can drag the red timekeeper into their end zone.

Ah, Fricker and the Richter…

Ah, Fricker and the Richter scale. Those were fun seasons.

My dad accepted a position at UofM and we moved to Ann Arbor in 1978. That's when my Wolverine fan-ship started. My earliest football memories were going to Stanford games (Plunkett was my hero) and rooting against Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

First I'm hearing of it. So…

First I'm hearing of it. So should I pump the accelerator and brakes simultaneously?

Michigan has one player who…

Michigan has one player who can dribble through traffic. Period. Only one.

And yet every player is determined to pass up open jumpers and drive to the rim for a turnover or swat. So painful to watch.

I was shocked when Khayat leapt high into the air for a loose ball. Wow, we're able to do that? And that it stood out as a game highlight is pathetic. It illustrated just how unathletic our team is (beyond Dug and sometimes Tarris).

Rod Moore's interception…

Rod Moore's interception reminded me of Courtney Avery's end-of-game interception of Braxton Miller. Both were diving catches at the turf. Both preserved a 6-point win against the Buckeyes.

For me it's hard to top the …

For me it's hard to top the "Blake Corum 22 yard TD, immediately after Zinter breaks his leg" play.

I love the patience, the cut, the burst, the power, the score, and the celebration. There's something odd about that play, though, that I noticed live and now focus on every time I see the replay.

It looks like there could have been a violent collision at the goal line (or just after). Did OSU #41 hold up at the end instead of diving at Blake? Or is the angle deceiving and he had no shot to make contact?

I feel like most players--especially a hated rival--would have lunged at the runner's legs to 1) knock him out short of the goal line or 2) cause a fumble through the end zone for a touch back.

The OSU DB just slowed up and ran out of bounds behind him. Was it because of the horrific Zinter injury he had just seen? Or did he give up on the play?

Or am I wrong in thinking he could have made contact?

Crystal Dunn is out of…

Crystal Dunn is out of position? Where "should" Dunn be playing (or not playing, IMO)? How many times a game do we have to hear "bad pass by Dunn" before she gets replaced?

Yep, my first sports heroes were John Brodie and Jim Plunkett

Not really. In half of…

Not really. In half of Bartkowski's NFL seasons (6 of 12) he threw more interceptions than touchdowns. He connected on an occasional long ball but almost as often he connected with the other team.

156 career TDs

144 career INTs

I saw them at Cobo in 1981 with The Go-Go's as opening act.

Not sure why I didn't go to the Crisler show. I was a Senior in HS, in Ann Arbor, and a huge Police fan. How or why did I miss that?

I was happy to see Anderson .Paak on drums. He's really the only performer from the halftime show I listen to, but overall I thought it was pretty good.

Dr. Murthy's opening twitter…

Dr. Murthy's opening twitter statement says COVID heart is "mostly not a thing." Mostly.

The article's title claims "there is no ‘Covid heart’."

One of these statements is sensationalized--just like the occurrence of COVID heart warnings--and I believe it's the article title.

My condolences. A caregiver that goes home-to-home is a sure vector if they are not following safe protocols. Scary indeed.

My elderly mom lives in Orem…

My elderly mom lives in Orem and doesn't go out much, fortunately, but does have a caregiver visit daily. Hope that they get the spike under control there, but it's a slow-moving freight train once it gets going.

Hearing about lots of mask protests there, which is a shame. Really expected or hoped for more from that community.

Having COVID-19 protects…

Having COVID-19 protects some people from getting it again, but that immunity appears to wear off and wear off quickly for some. It is not a one-and-done virus.

Getting a vaccine in the future will protect some (but not all) people from contracting COVID-19 for some period of time.

"Herd immunity" under these conditions is fantasy.

Do you consider lane lines on roads to be tyranny? Why should anyone tell you where you can and can't drive? And other people can get out of your way...

Regarding this:

"Also,…

Regarding this:

"Also, Michigan's previous game was a one-point loss to Ohio State in which they failed to convert on a two point conversion at the end of the game."

Why does no one mention the Michigan kick-off after this? I was in the crowd SCREAMING as loud as I could!

Why? Ohio State had all eleven players near the line of scrimmage for the on-side kick that was obviously coming. There were no OSU players deep. Michigan could have done a pooch pick to the 15-20 yard line and likely won the sprint to the ball since OSU would have to suddenly turn and start from a dead stop.

Still infuriating after all these years.

Yes, the social distancing…

Yes, the social distancing and extreme State measures have prevented deaths from beings millions or several hundred thousand. A competent Federal response early would have mitigated or at least diminished the need for extreme State measures.

1. What's your favorite…

1. What's your favorite method of fishing?

Man, that's tough to answer. There's something amazing about standing barefoot in the sand and surfcasting as the sun rises. Any non-boat fishing is great.

2. What's your favorite species to target?

Steelhead, maybe. Spanish Mackerel are a blast too. Stripers...

3. Fish in solitude or in the company of others?

Solitude, or with one close buddy.

4. Dream fishing trip?

Catching a Belize Bonefish on a fly I tied and a fly rod I built was pretty cool, but someday I'd love to fish for Peacock Bass on top water lures.

I think you're reading much…

I think you're reading much more into Slavitt's statement than what he wrote and intended. Serious shutdown orders finally began a week after his tweet. Without those orders, the estimates were indeed 1 million plus with virtually no Federal steps (the Chinese travel ban was less than a half-measure) to contain it.

Check back with me in 2.5 years when COVID-19 has run its course and vaccines are available to everyone. This will be a long slog unfortunately.

With its serious side…

With its serious side effects? Not a chance in hell.

Face masks have help Asian…

Face masks have help Asian countries like South Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore quickly contain COVID-19. You can reach your own conclusion, but experts in those countries will tell you masks are a big part of it. Both infected and non-infected should wear them.

Here is Andy Slavitt's…

Here is Andy Slavitt's twitter statement on 3/12.

"Currently experts expect over 1 million deaths in the U.S. since the virus was not contained & we cannot even test for it."

"Experts expect" is far different from "breathlessly announcing" a million COVID deaths "minimum."

Also, at the time of his tweet on 3/12, not a single State had enacted "shelter in place" orders and we were heading in a very bad direction without it. A week later (3/19) California was the first State to implement a Statewide order.

For context, Trump said on 3/10:

"“And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."

I'd say Slavitt is far closer to the truth than Trump. It's not just going away without serious action.

Will Florida be the State that keeps us all from getting back to normal because of their half-measures?

Testing is important because…

Testing is important because people can carry COVID-19 without feeling any symptoms. They can be spreading the virus without knowing they should be self-isolating.

Speed in finding and isolating patients was key to slowing the spread in China. Plentiful ventilators and ECMO machines in Chinese health care was key to saving lives. The USA is behind China on both its response speed and availability of respiratory life support. It's going to get bad here and our woeful testing response is a huge part of it. (Note: China just offered an aid package to Italy that includes 1,000 ventilators, 100,000 respirators, 50,000 test kits, and more)

The US decided to not accept WHO test kits... and someday we will know who made that terrible decision.

True, but we still don't…

True, but we still don't know what "recovered" means with Covid-19. Can recovered patients be infected again? Unknown. Are they contagious even after recovery? Unknown.

If you're looking at the dashboard, the spread in the US will look like Europe soon. There is no doubt that we are headed in that direction. No reason to panic, but do take follow the common-sense precautions.

Yes, I went last week during…

Yes, I went last week during the soft open. And the fragels (and egg-bagel sandwiches) were fantastic as expected. The old location on Plymouth Rd was on my way to work and very convenient--perfect for grabbing a dozen fragels for work meetings--but the new location sucks. The traffic is bad there on Washtenaw and there isn't much standing room inside. Still, it's great to have them back and open again.
