In latest MGoBlog E! News, Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos ran the Big House 5K this past weekend.

Per the article:

Joaquin [their son] joined the wrestling team at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in March of 2021, and the couple has been seen attending games at the University of Michigan campus in addition to participating in a parent's weekend.

Have not watched her show in years so not sure if she has talked about Michigan before, but always cool to see the University getting recognition, however random it may be.

This is the least Bill Brasky thing ever, I’m starting to think this is not the real Bill Brasky. I once saw Bill Brasky complete a 5K in three steps, when he was done, he turned around and did it again backwards because someone at the starting line said they could run it in 100 steps.

TO BILL BRASKY! (The real one)

Kelly and Regis were the best. Always a fun watch on a slow vacation day morning. It was the generational contrast that gave the show its energy.

Kelly and Strahan never really found the right rhythm. He's gotten a little bit smoother on Good Morning America, but though he's a charismatic personality, he's just never going to be a natural TV performer.

I've tried watching Kelly and Ryan Seacrest a few times, but they have never really clicked for me. Something about him is off.

Consuelos is a decent actor and by all accounts s really nice guy. It's nice to see them support school causes like this. All publicity is good publicity.

I agree 100% with all of this.

When my first kid was born, I was up at all hours and watched much more daytime TV than normal. Regis (who I always liked on Letterman) was great because he combined being a consummate TV showman with being a relatable, quick-witted, guy (mostly through how he would get annoyed about something and get low-key enraged at that injustice of it all) even if he was incredibly rich.

Seacrest is as polished a TV/radio performer as can be and is thus fine to pass the time, but he doesn't seem authentic, so I don't particularly care for him one way or the other.

So right about Regis. A true performer, yet never stopped relating to normal folks.

And as to the other comment, yes, he was all in for ND, and as much as ND is and always has been my personal number 1 rival, I related to a guy who was die hard for his college team.

Regis made that show, regardless of who his female counterpart was.

Kelly almost always has a Michigan mug or some other such bit on the show, and yes, she frequently mentions Michigan.

Not that I regularly watch. Posting for a friend...

We did not see these two among the thousands running (a lot walking, also). For what it's worth, I think it was an excellent value in terms of 5k races (decent tech top, well mapped course, lot of volunteers and nicely organized). The only downside, perhaps, is the first 2 km are legit uphill.

So this might fit into the “cool story bro” category, but I think it’s relevant/interesting enough.

My old man was a med school professor and sometimes lent his office to students to study.

There was this particular couple who would take him up on it, Kelly Costello and Mark Consuelos.

While Mike (who is Mark C’s brother) did his UG at Princeton,  Kelly was a proud UM grad and had previously dated Mike Griffin, who some of a certain age might remember from the 1989 UM hoops team. Since I was already team UM during my HS years i thought that was cool as all get out.

PS- Kelly C’s family lived outside of Allentown PA and used to invite my dad (who grew up on weekends/summers outside of Ludington and fashioned himself as a part-time hunter/redneck) up on the first day of PA deer season (which is a legit holiday in most of the state). There were so many deer that if he didn’t arrive in time he’d be assigned someone else’s second buck of their day, and on more than one occasion Kelly Ripa would be with her brother/sis in law would be there to greet them back at the house when they were preparing their venison supply for the winter
