MBB: NO Way
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
I'm not a huge fan of televised basketball so I could be wrong, but if you are refering to tournament OSU last year, that one was at least a swish... I think. This one was a bank. And I refuse to watch replays so I'm not sure, but appeared to be shot-putted. It was just the flukiest piece of white-freshman bullshit I have ever seen.
Fuck.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
At that point it's just pure luck. No skill involved for both shots.
February 23rd, 2011 at 10:25 PM ^
Turner's was nothing but net.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:48 PM ^
This was worse. Maybe the shot last year was flukier, but this was a much worse game to lose than that one. We were 15-16 when we played OSU in the BTT last year.
February 23rd, 2011 at 10:19 PM ^
That shot ended our season. Felt worse for me
February 23rd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
For all practical purposes, our season was over long before that.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
So angry I had to say it twice. Kind of like the frowup hivemind up there ^^^

February 23rd, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
If you go 5-11 on free throws and miss 6 in a row down the stretch don't expect to win.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
What the fuck? I hate this, I hate Wisconsin. I don't want to watch a single game until next time we play. What if we only beat Minni, do we even have a shot anymore?
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
To have a shot, we really need to win 4 in a row...we need marquee wins. We have none. We'd need to beat OSU, Purdue, or Wisconsin to get the top 30 win we need. If we win 4 in a row, then we are in a good place. If.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
Sports God, are you there, it's me smwilliams?
I seem to have blood running from my eyes and ears and nose.
I believe it's due to your newfound sheer hatred for Michigan athletics.
Please stop.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
Sports God only plays a role in so many of our recent failures.
Michigan has a horribly run AD that can't get out of its own way. That is the main reason for our frustrations over the last 10 fucking years.
Incompetent AND unlucky is just a disasterous combination.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
Your explanation doesn't cover that when Bo was still alive, Michigan was 1-4 vs. Tressel and had a dought of tournament bids that stood at eight years.
The sucktitude has been going on longer than November 2006.
February 23rd, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Duh, God has anticipation.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
The kick in the balls was even a couple of free throws at the end of the game and UM wins.
Ah well, a learning experience for this club.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
Learning experience?
LEARNING EXPERIENCE?!?!?!
No one wants to fucking hear it, dude. If your reaction is "ah well" you obviously aren't that into the team so maybe you shouldn't be posting now while us diehards mourn.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
Or maybe he's reacting like a normal human being who expected this team to lose.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:40 PM ^
No one EXPECTS to lose a game in that fashion.
Maybe that's the downfall of Michigan athletics. People like you who don't expect much and shrug your shoulders when you don't get it. The programs with fanatical bases sure as hell are having a lot more success than Michigan right now, that's for sure.
February 24th, 2011 at 12:01 PM ^
I was upset and I still kind of am, but I don't let it ruin my night or destroy my TV or come on the board and act like there is no chance to get into the tournament at this point. Oh, and if we didn't have a fanatical base, RR wouldn't have been poked and prodded from the first day that he was here. Not that I think that our reaction to this game has any bearing on the season whatsoever.

Hey guys.....
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
You seriously have to question Morris's clutch gene after this one. This guy can't MAKE a free throw in crunch time. Not just tonight. This happened to him at the end of the Indiana and Iowa games as well.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
I wouldn't say that - he hit some huge shots and free throws against Iowa and other times. Don't question a guy's "clutchness" because he missed a couple of FTs when everyone else was clanging them.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
Jordan Morgan didn't clang his big free throws the other night.
My point is is that when icing a game, Morris's free throw percentage goes way way down. That is a problem.
February 23rd, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^
Do you actually have numbers to back that up? Morris was 4-6 against Iowa (though he did clang 2 in the OT, but also hit 4 straight near the end of the game), and has been decent all year. The kid played his heart out against Wiscy and the probable B1G POY and held him to sub-.500 shooting. He missed some free throws, but so did everyone else. I think blaming Morris, or anyone in particular, for this loss is myopic - you win as a team and you lose as a team, no matter how cliche that might sound.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
Also, stopped by RCMB for a sec and they were just as self-conciously happy about UM's win as you would expect. Again, if the Little Brother shoes fit...

for MSU in the past 5 years
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
Why would you willingly subject yourself to such torture?
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
we need to win two more.

February 23rd, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
Is it any better when our teams are good? I've lived through a couple decent football teams- that I don't remember. And 1 good basketball team. How does it feel to be a Top 10 team? It feels like I might never know.....
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
I mean remember 2006? What did it feel like to be ranked third in the country after the regular season? Un-fucking-believably deflating.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
BRIAN SAVE US!!!!!!!!'!!!!!'!!!
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
Words cannot describe it
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
It's going to be fun to be a Michigan fan again..... Game ended 20 minutes ago and I still haven't moved.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
That was bad. REALLY lucky shot. Brought back memories of Evan Turner's shot in the BTT. I don't know if it was bad defensivestrategy employed by the coaches or a lapse in judgement by the players, it doesn't really matter though. We had around 8 missed free throws? Can't do that in a close game, especially when we got to the line so much more often than they did.
I don't think the NCAA Tournament is out of reach, we have to win out though. Probably make a run or 2+ games in the BTT. Would an NIT berth be that bad? Two more home games in a tournament that we could probably win or at least make a deep run. It would be more practices and game experience for our extremely young team. Just trying to look at the bright side if things don't go our way. If we sweep msu, I'm happy because we haven't done that in a while. Hell, we could see them in the BTT and beat them 3 times. Sparty, I'll see you at Crisler, and I'll have my broom.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
NCAA = gone.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
We can win the B1G Ten Championship as a last resort.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
A team that hasn't beaten anyone is going to all of the sudden rise up and win the Big Ten Tournament. Ok.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
I was just pointing out that while it may be almost impossible to get a berth, it still is possible...
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^

probably not though
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
I just puked all over my computer..everyone in the Ref room is staring at me.
February 23rd, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
These over-the-top reactions are reserved for GOOD basketball teams (like those who can beat Top 25 teams). This team is improving, but is not ready for the NCAA Tournament. Yet.
9 offensive rebounds, 8 second-chance points, 18 points off Michigan turnovers. There is why Wisconsin even had a chance. Oh, and a bad free throw-shooting team continuing that trend.
NIT teams allow those things to happen in a must-win game.
February 23rd, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
All your fucking facts don't change the fact that we were up 2 with 5 seconds to go against the #12 team in the country w/ tourney hopes on the line and they hit a fucking prayer fluke bank.
Those are facts. If this doesn't bother you please stop being a Michigan fan.
EDIT: Originally a reply to your comment where you criticized us for yelling at you for using "fucking facts."
