Helmet Stickers:Yes or No
Just wondering what the board's opinion on this is. I'm pretty young so I've never known Michigan with helmet stickers, but after looking at some pictures they look kinda cool. I wouldn't mind either way but maybe they will motivate our players.
If we do get stickers, I'd like them to be block Ms, maybe that would look neater and less crowded.

Prefer no but they are alright.

I liked them back in the 80s, but I think if you can find some video from the 70s, I think the helmet stickers back then were really ugly.

hey sorry i am new on this blog and was wondering how to open a new thread on MGoBoard?
The main thing I am wondering is besides the guys we keep hearing about (McClure, Ravens, Willingham, Thomas, Clark ect.) does anyone have any news about some of the longshots or guys that arent making official visits in these last 3 weeks?
Also, has anyone heard if the rumor that Hoke is back in contact with Kris Frost has any validity to them or not?

You have to reach a certain amount of points.
Also I believe Kris Frost is already at Auburn? Maybe not.
January 23rd, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
any idea how many points you need to have?
and no Kris Frost did not enroll early at auburn that much i know and added to the fact that they didnt really even want him makes me think that due to Hokes new shown ability to recruit effectively (given the short time frame this has been very impressive so far) I have heard that Frost may be reconsidering and atleast talking to our staff again.

You need 100 points.

Nah. Why mess with perfection?
If our helmets were bare, I'd consider it, but I really don't like them. It makes me think Ohio State too much.

Not sure.........

Not feeling the stickers.
January 23rd, 2011 at 9:46 PM ^
I think you're overreacting.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:14 AM ^
yes, definitely over reacting...at least a little

My preference is to leave it as it is. If Hoke decides to add them I hope that he uses something different from the old HS.
Maybe a squashed maize and blue buckeye or trampled spartan hat.

...Yes. Time to flip the team's luck with a retro look. It's funny how all the youngsters are the fuddy duddies when it comes to this issue.

Yes for Stickers. Why? It reminds me of a time when we were not losing to App St for a season opener, or Mississippi St. by a gazillion points on NYD, we were beating tOSU, MSU, ND consistently....and well frankly we just kicked everyone's asses.
We still have it in us. Generation to generation, Michigan has not changed. Just got to go out there an execute. So bring back the stickers if it helps our young men. I could care less if they don't look pretty. Go to Oregon if you want that or to the SEC and drink "Cam Cam" juice.
Go Blue.

On a more serious note. I'm 10000000 percent against the old oval wolverine stickers.
I could be talked into smaller round block M stickers.
Or stickers with the Ohio Bobcat punching Brutus in the face.

The helmets are great the way they are.

This just in: Joe-Pa has been using all-white helmet stickers for over 40 years.
January 23rd, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
They clutter up the helmets too much.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:03 PM ^
no no no no no

Traditional Teams should not use gimmicky junk. Mucks up an already nice looking helmet.

Can OSU stickers be traded for tattoos?
January 24th, 2011 at 1:10 AM ^
Yes and $100 per. It is a new Buckeye policy to keep players of Pryor's ilk.

I did start being a fan during the Bo era although I am pretty sure Moeller kept them as well. I will say that the helmets on the 85 defensive line had a different look with so many stickers.
Bo was using them before OSU, not sure if Michigan did before OSU, so I wouldnt worry about the copy worries.
But more important, lets start winning again. If Hoke thinks they help motivate the team, bring them back. If he doesnt, leave them off.
January 23rd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
One of Bo's assistants at Miami invented them for the Miami freshman team, then Bo broght it to the varsity squad. Hayes instituted them at OSU in '68 and Bo broght them to Michigan in '69.
January 24th, 2011 at 12:39 PM ^
Stopped putting them on the helmets in '95. He wanted to stress the team over individual performance.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:12 PM ^
Yes, they make the helmet even more interesting especially from a distance.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
No, no, a thousand times no.
For selfish reasons, just because I think they make helmets look like nascar. Also, if you want to get all philosophical about it, (even though Bo used them) I don't think "The Team, The Team, The Team" goes very well with rewards for personal achievements.
But yeah, mostly cuz they look tacky.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
Thats a big no
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:30 PM ^
seems to fly in the face of "the team, the team, the team".
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
I vote NO. Makes the helmet look cluttered and takes away from the "wing lines" Why have wings if you fill in between with stickers?
Stickers are for elementary school.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:38 PM ^
Bring back the Wolverine heads.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
No, the helmets without the stickers have such a clean look and as mentioned in other posts it is about the team not individual accomplishments just my opinion.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
It's old school. I always loved them.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
I say no to helmet stickers because quite frankly it disturbs the traditional esthetics of the UM football uniform. Why mess with perfection. If they decide they have to do it I hope they're small and less instrusive that what I've seen in the past. Maybe little block M's or something like that.
