MBB yellin' thread
Irvin had the flu.
Was last game merely a fluke?
With 6 days off before the next game--a home game--against a terrible osu team, that game is now must-win if we even want to make the NIT much less the NCAA Tournament.

A lot of you guys were calling us "haters" out after the Indiana win, acting like the team was back. They needed to follow up that Indiana game with a W in East Lansing.
MSU played pretty bad. Michigan played worse.
This is not a good basketball team.
January 29th, 2017 at 3:51 PM ^
Exactly. Shooting 63% and forcing 16 turnovers was an anomaly that covered up weaknesses against Indiana.
I did like the effort on the glass today though if we are looking for positives.

IU shot 55% in that game. They lost because Michigan was hot. It happens. People act like we're two years into a rebuild and we need more evidence. This isn't a good team.

Stop embracing this low-bar for Michigan basketball.
MSU this season is not a good basketball team. Michigan was "supposedly" playing their best ball of the season. Follow up with the Indiana win with a good road victory, this team is suddenly right in the thick of the conference.
January 29th, 2017 at 4:50 PM ^
But this was probably the worst MSU team we've faced in that time span.
January 29th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
We need every win we can get since this team is not guaranteed to win any game on their schedule with that defense.
January 29th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
Indiana got blown out because their defense was terrible and they turned the ball over a lot. If MSU shoots only 45%, we likely win.
January 29th, 2017 at 3:45 PM ^
and next year is going to be worse since we have no good freshmen contributors.
January 29th, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
Lack of contributing freshmen? Classic Beilein special. Ugh.

Would zero points in 40 minutes be worse?
January 29th, 2017 at 3:50 PM ^
Wagner & Wilson are on the rise - big time.
And next year's freshman class will be considerably better than this year's.
What I can't understand is how Xavier Simpson is so worthless thusfar. How in the hell was this kid Mr. Basketball in Ohio?

Coaching?
January 29th, 2017 at 4:12 PM ^
Oh my GOD, how DARE anyone even SUGGEST that! Beilien is a SAINT. He RUNS A CLEAN PROGRAM, he TOOK US TO THE NC GAME a few years ago. And anyway, WHO WOULD YOU HIRE IN HIS PLACE?

Really, replying to your own comment?

So you needed the /s?

Nope, the joke was the only part of the post I understood

Or maybe players vary in their ability and/or rate of development.

El Jeffe gets it.

We hire Greg Marshall.
January 29th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
He can't play defense - gets beat all the time. On offense, how many easy buckets did he miss? Dude can't make a simple layup.

I mean realistically we're not going to be much worse next year. Duncan Robinson cna replace Irvin. MAAR, Wilson, and Wagner all come back and the freshman class is a lot better. If Simpson can develop a bit more, I think that we might actually be a bit better.

Listen I don't think this team is the best Michigan basketball team ever, but they're 14-8 so it's hard that they lose more...
January 29th, 2017 at 3:54 PM ^
January 29th, 2017 at 3:58 PM ^
They're 14-8 because they have wins over Howard, IUPUI, Mount St. Marys, Kennesaw State, Central Arkansas, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Furman. They are 7-8 in other games.

I usually hate unimaginative negative comments like the one I'm about to make so neg me if you like, but the dude has broke me.
The day can't come soon enough, where I never have to watch Zak Irvin play basketball again.
What an embarrassing performance.
January 29th, 2017 at 5:01 PM ^
Irvin hasn't right since his back injury a couple years ago. He's a shell of what he once was.

If a player is sick and you still need to play him this much, it says more about recruiting more than anything else. Good job, John.

Michigan basketball hasn't won a road game since February 10th, 2015.
Beilein has now lost 5 straight to MSU.
Beilein just played Zak irvin 36 minutes two days removed from having the flu.
Beilein is on the verge of missing the NCAA's for the 4th time in 10 years.
Beilein makes $3.3 million per season which makes him one of the 10 highst paid coaches in the country.
West Virginia is better off without Beilein.
I cannot wait until John Beilein is no longer coaching this program. Nice guy who had one amazing recruiting class and a lot of blah before and after it.
January 29th, 2017 at 3:59 PM ^
He's gonna be here at least one more year.
