Blake O'Neill Jersey from MSU game up for auction
For all people who are interested in Michigan memorabilia...
My friend pointed this auction out to me and I thought it was pretty interesting. It is Blake O'Neills Michigan football jersey from the 2015 season, which means that this was the jersey from the infamous MSU play.

It has no bids but I am curious to see if it does get one especially if any MSU fan would be willing to pay that much money to get something that was so memorable from the game. Curious, would anyone be willing to spend any money on a rival team's piece of memorabilia that was involved with some significant game or play in which the outcome favored Michigan? Or do you have any? Would love to hear if people do and if they display it or just keep it in storage and pull it out as conversation pieces.

... will buy it.
In remembrance of the last time in a long time they will beat us and that even then, it was through divine intervention and nothing earned.

Unless one hit big on a winning scratch-off lottery ticket, I doubt it.

Why would any Michigan fan want to drop a stupid amount of money to own something that'll remind them of one of the worst moments in recent Michigan football everytime they look at it?
December 2nd, 2016 at 4:43 PM ^
So they could burn it.

It's very unfair to Blake to reduce him to that one play. He had a fantastic season otherwise.
The other thing is that, as painful as that ending was, that game ultimately didn't really make that much of a difference in our season. If he gets off the punt and the rest of the season plays out the same, we still don't win the Big Ten. OTOH, OSU in that scenario wins the East division, most likely beats Iowa to win the conference and quite possibly goes on to win a second straight national title.

would buy it to burn it...maybe to flip, like a waterbottle. It will be the new fad, throwing jerseys up in the air and watching the flip and see which side lands up!

Given the known-obsession market out there, I'm betting they think an MSU fan will buy this.
I mean these are the same people who bought and wore South Dakota State shirts to an NCAA Round of 64 game at the palace because they were playing Michigan in 2013.
Hopefully Stephen M. Ross bids 3223.39 on it.

You'd have to deliver pizza for an entire block party to come up with that kind of money.

Think of all the couches you could buy for that kind of coin.

I think that would buy like, one couch.

Craigslist in Lansing has around 40 couches for sale at under $100 each with most in the $60 range.

They "photo matched" it at the bottom of the page. but it looks a little too similar to what crazy people do for conspiracy theories for me to take it as 100% accurate. That is if I was inclined to buy it in any way.

The auction never actually claims that he wore the jersey in that particular game. It just describes last year's MSU game and lists evidence supporting that it is game worn. But it never actually specifically says which game. It is implied MSU, but I think they left that out to give them some wiggle room if they can't verify that.
EDIT: I guess they do include the date of game in the auction title, but the description is not very specific.

I saw a Michigan fan swipe the hat right off John Cooper's head at Michigan Stadium in 1993 after we shut them out when they were supposedly headed to the Rose Bowl and were going to be declared the National Champion.
If I ever see that sucker on-line, it's mine.

Hope O'Neill is the one selling it and making the money off of it. I remember Vincent Smith did something simialr a few years ago. He sold a bunch of nice, framed pictures of him getting tackled by Clowney, right when his helmet flew off. He probably made some good money too.
If you're going to be infamous, you might as well make money off it.

Only Jon Falk or one of the equipment managers could verify the authenticity of the jersey. As I recall it, the only jerseys the players got to keep were their bowl jerseys, but I'm getting old. Game jerseys came right back to the equipment room for laundry/repair and didn't go back out until the next game day.

You know, many years ago, I think there was a poorly phrased "For Sale" ad on The Tonight Show which was something to the effect of "Soccer ball for sale, signed by soccer legend Pele, or by someone named Pete". You do have to be careful about which ads you choose to answer.

I was at the Minnesota game last year and was by the tunnel trying to get a good view of the jug. I said, "Nice kicking Blake." And he stopped walking looked at me and said the most sincere thank you, that you can hear. It seemed like he was a really appreciative nice kid, it is a shame this is what he will be remembered for.
