Aubrey Dawkins transferring to UCF
If he plays this year at Michigan that means he'd only have one year of eligibility left, grad transfer or not.
Edit: beaten to the punch.

Best of luck to Aubrey.

I get wanting to play with your Dad because that option is unlikely to happen again. Judging how he did at Stanford this is going to be really unpleasant. If you thought we had some dark nights of the soul here, his tenure was basically one long never ending one.

Do we have anyone who can easily dunk now?
Or are we the most unathletic team in the country?

I barely can remember any dunks he made. Some spectacular misses!

going with him?
Beilein is going to wait until after next year's season to join him.
Welcome back Spike (if he's healthy enough to play, that is)
We need Georghe Muresan III, wherever he is.
We want Spike!

come on down!!
Interesting that people are totally fine with a 44% 3 Point shooter with elite athleticism leaving. If Aubrey Dawkins was a grad transfer from let's say Valpo, with those stats, people would be drooling over him.
Huge loss for the program.
Much respect for Aubrey, but the dude couldn't play a lick of defense and basically went into a void on offense unless he was going for an alley oop or shooting a three.
Good kid, wish him the best, but that athletic ability didn't translate into much for Michigan.

I get what you're trying to say: that's the glass half-full view of Aubrey. However, he also lost his starting job to a lesser, more limited athlete because his defense was that awful and his three point shooting was the only thing he brought to the table. That's the glass half-empty view, and it's why this is a loss, but not a huge one.
I like Aubrey and I wish this would have worked out, but his game had huge deficiencies heading into this year and he didn't seem to be making any improvements. If an athlete of his caliber couldn't hold onto a starting spot an a team like last year's which was positively starved for athleticism, that's not a great sign.
All the best to Aubrey! Playing for your Dad sounds like an awesome experience and I wish him well.
The team will be fine without him. At some point, you stop drolling over potential and just look at what you see on the court. He's going into his third year, and has only given a few great moments. Let's not get all nostalgic about it, the guy was an okay player for the team. Wish him all the best, but you can bring in a potential grad transfer and double the output Aubrey gave.
This year? We aren't exactly losing a starter here.

He had the opportunity to snag a starting job and be a major contributor this past season. Instead he regressed and played a minor role. As a freshman he showed promise, but had clear weaknesses to his game. As a sophomore, those weaknesses stood out even more. He seemed to make more frequent mental errors than any Michigan player in my memory.Could a light go on and Dawkins realizes his potential? Sure, but it would be at least a mild surprise at this point. A change of scenery and a chance to play for his dad are the best things for him. If he blows up at UCF, I won't assume that's would have happened if he had stayed here.

I feel the same way now as I did when Smotz decided to transfer. A nice offensive option who was not good at playing defense is leaving. This still looks to be a formidable eight man rotation. Hopefully DJ Wilson and Ibi Watson can give us a few minutes here and there. Really need to land a grad transfer.
G - Walton, X. Simpson
G - MAAR
F - Duncan
F - Irvin, Chatman
C - Wagner, Donnal
I kinda thought this would happen but I'm not very happy about it.

Just hasn't been a good year all around for the basketball team. Best of luck!

Looks to be a great move for him, kind of lost his role on the team. Best of luck to him.
