One would be ok to assume he called JH for insight and advice? If so, I can only imagine how that conversation may have gone.

instead of clap-clap-clap on the sidelines

....and one who apparently does not have flatulence issues.

Probably a wise career move.

Sigh, TWSS.

Here's the link to that video; one of my favorites.

Happy and Doc seem like totally acceptable answers here.
Although grumpy and sleepy I'm sure were the top 2..

Smart move by Michael to go along.
The gif is better, leaving the possibility that they never answered.

I am assuming that David Shaw has a relationship with Harbaugh and heard/saw firsthand all the bullshit he went through. Can't imagine any decent coach would willingly put himself throught that. I wonder if Kevin Sumlin, whose star has fallen, will be in the running.

Basically a hot poopy, trashy burning mess.

On planet bullshit.

where there are no right answers and no way out.
other than that, it's a great job.

While the star it revolves around is going nova.

Brent Musburger must be devastated.
January 7th, 2016 at 3:33 PM ^
that David Shaw is one to be deceived.
January 7th, 2016 at 3:34 PM ^
because he really couldn't see himself as a HC in Ann Arbor
January 7th, 2016 at 3:35 PM ^
the feeling that Harbaugh and Shaw are destined to face each other in an epic battle for world supremacy sometime in the next few years, either in the Rose Bowl or something bigger. After watching the Michigan and Stanford bowl games, next year is a possibility.

He has a great job at Stanford where he went to school, probably a ton of autonomy, and a strong winning program. Why would he give that up to go work for a gang of douche bags? Money sure as hell isn't everything.
January 7th, 2016 at 3:49 PM ^
... douchebag is one word.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:10 PM ^
Singular is douche, plural is douches. Likewise, singular is bag, and plural is bags. Therefore if there is more than one douchebag, it becomes douchesbags.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:30 PM ^
Nope, in this context douchebags is correct.
Douchesbags would be multiple bags that each contain multiple douches. Douchebags would be multiple bags each containing a single douche. Douchesbag would be a single bag containing multiple douches.
Therefore, while it is possible that Mark Dantonio is also the god of douchesbags, he is definitely the god of douchebags. Perhaps the better question is whether Dantonio himself is a douchesbag or simply a douchebag.1
I'll see myself out.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:46 PM ^
That is precisely what I meant. You take one douche, and you put it in a bag. Then you take a second douche, and you put it that same bag. You take a third douche, and put that in a second nd bag, and then you take a fourth douche and put that in the second bag. Now you have two douchesbags.

kind of like this:

January 7th, 2016 at 5:53 PM ^
One of my son's classmates meant to call someone a douchebag in elementary school but it came out as, "You're a big bag of douche". It was uttered in front of the entire class. My son, recently transferred from public school, was the only one laughing hysterically.
Ever since then we use the term, Big Bag of Douche. That would make 49'ers management Bags of Douches.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:25 PM ^
And we start sentences with a capital letter - "G".
January 7th, 2016 at 4:54 PM ^
just go with douche nozzle-- pretty sure that is 2 words and york is more of a nozzle than a bag.... nozzles spray their doucheness all over the place...

Always wondered why an NFL job is so attractive to these college coaches.
NFL: Average length on contract 3 years (maybe?) at $3 mil/yr and even if you win a Super Bowl you get maybe a 3 year window before you are back on the hot seat. You don't pick your players. You don't pick your boss. Your bosses boss is almost certainly an old money prick or worse the child of an old money prick who has no clue how to run a football team.
OR
College: Average length of contract 5 years at $2 mil/yr if you win a national title you get at least a 10 year window before you ever are back on the hot seat. You pick your players. You pick your boss (if you're good). Your bosses boss is an intelectual and is only even involved in your day to day if you do something awful and stupid.
I would choose to be a college coach 100 times out of 100. Easily.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:32 PM ^
although the average is irrelevant for any individual situation. NFL teams are offering large raises and a decent contract length to woo college coaches. They're not getting deals like Tomsula got in SF. Unless you're Greg Schiano, you'll still be in demand in CFB if the NFL doesn't work out.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:32 PM ^
I absolutely agree with your conclusion and reasoning, but one quibble: Gene Chizik and Larry Coker would dispute that "if you win a national title you get at least a 10 year window before you are ever back on the hot set."
January 7th, 2016 at 3:37 PM ^
The 49ers job will be among the worst in the league while Jed York is there. On the other hand, being the head football coach in Palo Alto is among the best in my book.
January 7th, 2016 at 4:14 PM ^
And suddenly it becomes one of the best
January 7th, 2016 at 3:38 PM ^
Not sure why everyone on this board bags on Jed York and the 49ers. I love the organization. If not for its incompetence, Michigan probably wouldn't have been able to hire Harbaugh last year.

Let's order him an Edible Arrangement to thank him.
