There's no such thing as…

There's no such thing as having or not having room anymore.

Is it possible you met him…

Is it possible you met him at a specific point in time when he was dealing with a personal or professional issue and didn’t have time to appease your desire for a fanboy experience?

Ain’t gonna lie.  My initial…

Ain’t gonna lie.  My initial thought was Todd Helton, not Clay.  Not sure why.

When I was a kid, I worked…

When I was a kid, I worked lawn maintenance at a pet cemetery for two weeks.  Besides cutting grass, we also had to dig the graves.
They started talking about how they’d bought another cemetery and we’d have to dig up those graves and re-bury them in our cemetery and I was finished.
I was at least partly thinking they were messing with me.  I didn’t care to wait and find out.   I quit, no notice.  Sorry, not sorry.

Yes.   "Trader" Jack…

Yes.   "Trader" Jack McCloskey might be a better comparison.

My thoughts exactly, on Band of Brothers.  I thought the Pacific was very, very good, but not on the same level as Band of Brothers.

Clarence Boddicker gets it.

Clarence Boddicker gets it.

Did you say the same thing…

Did you say the same thing when coaches started collecting $5M salaries?  $6M?  $7M?  $8M?  $9M?

That’s when college athletics became more about business.

Coaches collect multi-million dollar salaries and have freedom of movement, but the kid is supposed to suck it up and sit out a year.

Fuck that.

Lmao.

Rick Pitino?  Is that you?

Rick Pitino?  Is that you?

I’ve seen him play twice. I…

I’ve seen him play twice. I know it’s a small sample size, but I’m not that impressed.

He’s a good athlete, but nothing that’s going to strike fear into anyone.

This would be funny, if it…

This would be funny, if it weren't true.

Yes, ‘68. Sorry.

But why…

Yes, ‘68. Sorry.

But why is he “never has to buy a drink a Nemo's” guy?

I just don’t get it. Just seems like he was “a guy” who happened to be on the team.

Wish I could appreciate him more, since it seems like we’re stuck with him.

I love Dan Dickerson, though.

This has always intrigued me…

This has always intrigued me. I was born in the 70’s, so I don’t remember his specific role or accomplishments on the ‘69 team.

In his total career, he only played something like 250 games for the Tigers; had less than 20 HR (total) and hit somewhere around .200 or .220.

What exactly is “his place in Tigers history”?

This might sound like I’m being a dick. I don’t mean to.  Sometimes I just can’t help it (lol).

In all seriousness, though, I can’t stand Jim Price. If I had a better understanding of what he’s done for the Tigers, I might be willing/able to cut him some slack.

Thanks.

I had this done almost 16…

I had this done almost 16 years ago.  I never looked back.  As others have said, go back and get it checked, to make sure it worked.

My doctor had my wife sign a paper stating that she agreed with my decision.  That's the biggest thing: if you and your wife are both sure that you don't want any more kids.  If that's solid, then this is a no brainer.

Good for you.  I tried…

Good for you.  I tried googling something, something "Rutger basketball’s recent Res Inn conference room thievery" something, something and I got nothing.

I've been busy lately, so I'm clueless as to what that's all about.  Or I'm just dumber than I thought and the context was totally lost on me.

Anyone care to lend a hand here?

TIA.

I seem to remember hearing…

I seem to remember hearing athletes like Mark Spindler and Charles Barkley talk about being out at bars, etc. & guys wanting to fight them.

Some guys get a few beers in them and see a pro athlete that's supposed to be kind of a bad ass (or a total bad ass) and they want to see if they got what it takes.

Liquid courage will make guys do stupid shit.

I wish Rocco's dad was still…

I wish Rocco's dad was still on the radio.  He was entertaining.  I liked him.

Nah, they just use state of Michigan aircraft.

I disagree with you about Peters.  John O'Korn, however...

I cracked up when he said…

I cracked up when he said that.

Yes.

Yes.

I totally agree.  It's why…

I totally agree.  It's why the BTN sucks.  Wouldn't be any harm, though, in describing exactly how facilities help in recruiting.

Put some pressure on those schools to spend some of that BTN money on the revenue generating sport, rather than spending it on sports that don't even draw 1,000 fans for home games.

Not sure where you got your…

Not sure where you got your info on rent.  My kid has an apartment in mid-town (an older, but nice apartment; nice area) for $900/month.

Furthermore, comparing a rebuilding project to some of the nicest cities in the country (as well as GR & AA, some of the nicest cities in the state) is epitome of apples and oranges.

You made some valid points: cost of insurance and looming Big3 layoffs.  Bringing up Detroit corruption when you've already compared Detroit to Chicago is laughable.  Show me a large city without corruption.  I'll just wait.  Go ahead.

Your OP doesn't sound optimistic.  It doesn't even sound objective.  It sounds biased and elitist.

I, myself, am admittedly biased, though. Obviously.  Lol.

If what one school can pay a…

If what one school can pay a kid is equal to what every other school can pay that kid, the under-the-table stuff will still exist.

It's the off the books payments that will give shady teams a leg up (all other things being mostly equal).

fools?  stupidity?  Maybe…

fools?  stupidity?  Maybe you need to lighten up, Francis.

I never said it would level the field for Michigan.  I was speaking about the problem and possible solutions in more general terms.  In fact, I essentially agreed with you.  I said that the under-the-table payments would still exist (still giving an advantage to those teams who are more inclined to break the rules).

Do better.

I'm for paying players, but…

I'm for paying players, but paying them or letting them make money off of endorsements won't change the current under-the-table payment of players.

That system would still exist as additional compensation. I'm not sure it's possible to remove that aspect of college sports (short of making every graduating HS player a free agent for the highest bidder).

This is close to what I've…

This is close to what I've been saying for a couple of years now.

This was my version:

Get rid of the B12.  Condense the best 64 teams into 4 conferences, each with two divisions (yes, ND has to join a conference...or they can go fuck themselves).  Teams 65 and below never had a chance anyway.

This gives you 8 division champions (or playoff teams).

Conference championships are the first round.

After that, you can take the conference championships and draw 'em out of a hat for all I care.  That's your semi-final matchup, etc.

Unless there's a central…

Unless there's a central organization in charge of scheduling (mostly) equal non-conference games, you'll have teams loading up on cupcakes, which will make their record look better.  And that brings me back to my point about who's ranking these teams.

It's just too big of an advantage to let a college team sit out a week, resting & healing, while two other teams play a high leverage game (possibly in terrible weather conditions) against each other.

Any format that includes…

Any format that includes teams getting a bye week would be a non-starter for me.  Too advantageous for those teams who are (or I'm assuming would be) picked by the same stupid process we have had and currently have.

I love the idea of playing the first round on campus.  I'd love to see some of those SEC teams come up north and play in the cold in December.

A fair amount of those 6-8 could come from juniors who enter the draft early.

Have you seen this hierarchy posted from the CFB committee or is this your belief in how it should be?

ugh...this was meant to be a reply to dr mantis toboggan.

Dude.  Your punishments are…

Dude.  Your punishments are way too severe.  Did you give any consideration to how bad the people are who are making these calls?  They can't even make the call right now and the punishment is only 1/2 a game.  You want them to make the same calls and it could cost a whole game.

I'm not down.

I still think the bigger…

I still think the bigger issue is that the players who passed by Marshall & Bush could've released their arms, passed by those two, then rejoined their arms and continued on their walk.  Nothing would've happened.

That's what the guys who past Hudson did.  There was no issue on that part of the field.  It was the fake tough guys passing by Marshall & Bush that wouldn't let their arms go to get around a guy who was (right or wrong) clearly in their way.  WTF did they think was going to happen?

That would've avoided the whole mess.

Definitely makes me think he…

Definitely makes me think he'd rather out coach D than lie about it.

He didn't lie.  He just said - this is the lie coach D told reporters.

Why would you even ask that?…

Why would you even ask that?  Who the hell kicks the peanut butter side?

There’s no licking, just biting.

Just to nitpick a little…

Just to nitpick a little here.  I appreciate the post and the link.  It'd be nice if you could include some context of exactly what the fuck they said in the article too.

Okay.  Thanks.

Now get off my fucking lawn.

I also grew up listening to…

I also grew up listening to Ernie Harwell and feel extremely fortunate to have someone like Dan Dickerson follow in Ernie's footsteps.  I'm not sure many fan-bases have been so lucky.

However, we'll have to agree to disagree on Price.  That's all I've got to say about that.

I love Gibby, but he's so…

I love Gibby, but he's so monotone anymore that it's hard to listen to.  His voice is like nails on a chalkboard to my wife.  Thankfully, since they're so bad, I don't watch many games lately.

I've never heard someone say…

I've never heard someone say they like the job Jim Price does analyzing games.  I personally can't stand it.  Catchers are brilliant.  Tigers can't hardly make a mistake.  He's horrible.

What'd you expect?  Sparty…

What'd you expect?  Sparty gonna spart.

I bet he's also a real …

I bet he's also a real "student of the game", "another coach on the field" or "heady" qb.

"We're going to play 13 games

"We're going to play 13 games and your travel partner twice, which would be Western Kentucky for us," said D'Antoni. "Then they are going to seed the schools. If you finish in the top five, No. 1 through No. 5 will play each other for the next four games to get 18 games.

Since when is MSU's football coach involved with CUSA basketball schedules?

No offense to your friend,

No offense to your friend, but based on NCAA Compliance's track record, he and his co-workers are bad at their jobs.
