2020 in-state ATH Ian Stewart to MSU
Rockwood (MI) Gibraltar Carlson wide receiver/athlete Ian Stewart committed to Michigan State. He's a 3-star, the #92 wide receiver, and #509 overall. Michigan offered him but didn't really seem to be pursuing him too hard.
He's a decent athlete, but not a big loss, IMO. I was kind of hoping for him to go to Michigan just because I have a family member from Carlson who's a big Michigan fan, so I thought that would have been a little bit cool.
Here's a link to his highlights if you care (LINK).
It's only a matter of time before Dantonio is back to owning Harbaugh.
you are having some fun, trying to draw out the nay-sayers, aren't you....
You know how much i love to fish =D
It's inevitable, did you SEE what MSU did to Oregon in their bowl game??? Only gave up seven points???
... Wait, what's that? They lost??!!?
maizen/1201 must be thrilled!
MSU can eat table scraps.
Hardly think the drummer from that lame 60's rock band is going to make much impact.
Piano, apparently.
You have to work hard to be odder-looking than those bandmates, but Stewart managed to pull it off.
"Ian had been there from the start, forming the rhythm and blues band in 1962, with guitarist Brian Jones.
They recruited Jagger, Richards, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman but, Ian was dropped from the line-up by their then manager, Andrew Loog Oldham.
He felt that six members were too many for a pop group and that his burly look was the wrong image to appeal to female fans.
So Ian became their road manager, played piano on stage with them and was integral to their sound on many of their biggest hits and classic albums,
Cynthia said: “Andrew thought his face didn’t fit in the Stones. But Stu said to me, ‘I’m going to stay on because where else will I be able to tour the world and play golf?’
“That’s exactly what he did. As their road manager he sorted out tour contracts and arranged to stay in hotels near his favourite golf courses.”
But that played havoc with the Stones’ love lives when hordes of screaming girls used to chase them during the 1960s.
Richards said: “So we’re 15 miles out of town and we’re ready to rock and roll… ‘What the hell are we doing here, Stu?’” Richards said.
“He’d say, ‘Best place for you … away from the crowd’. Meanwhile, you’d find out it was because there was a golf course… ha ha!”
Wow, haHa! I had forgotten about that or it was buried deep in my sub conscious.
Just figured that name fit a 60's English drummer, glad he's one of those that just got screwed by losing his job right before the band hit it big, as opposed to ODing.
I am not losing sleep over the #509 player overall. Best of luck to him at MSU.
3*, #509 sounds exactly like a slightly better than average MSU recruit
He'll be in the top 1/3 of their class if he stays at that ranking.
Harbaugh has taken on plenty of players ranked lower than #509.
What surprises me, though, is how jam-packed the rankings are with WRs this year. In the 90s in WR recruits, but near the top-500 in overall recruits? That seems like an oddity.
Offensive skill guys get ranked early, which leads to this.
This guy will either move up the WR rankings, or move down the overall as OL and DL (and other hard to predict position) guys get ranked appropriately. 90th best WR sound more like top 1000 guy than top 500.
I’ve seen him play twice. I know it’s a small sample size, but I’m not that impressed.
He’s a good athlete, but nothing that’s going to strike fear into anyone.
Really don't care. Are we posting every commit MSU gets now?
He's in state and had a Michigan offer. Also, kind of rich complaining about MSU talk when you have a Sparty avatar.
My Sparty avatar is referencing something funny. Calm down.
"Had a Michigan offer" is meaningless. We offer 300 kids per year.
Fringe, but it’s a top 20 kid in the state with Michigan offers and even a crystal ball or two for UM. You see enough concern thread on here about in-state recruiting, Sydney. This might be debatably thread-worthy but it might also save us the next “I don’t follow recruiting but should I be concerned with Michigan’s in-state recruiting?” posts. Also slow Saturday night so let’s give Magnus the benefit of the doubt, mate.
Because we are bored and there is nothing to talk about? Anything other than a re-done CC thread thread is fine by me.
It isn't "thread worthy" but clearly that is not a criterion for many/most of the threads that get slapped onto this wall. I do believe that if Gattis wanted him he would be at Michigan. Maybe he will be a perfect fit for the pathetic "disrespect" calling card of MSU.
That's disrespektful to Staee that you're not spelling "disrespekt" correctly.
I'm not going to bother going back to see if you commented in the "favorite movie deaths" thread...
But a local kid with a Michigan offer who committed to our in-state rival? Get it off the board!
Lol, that's fair. Thanks Magnus
Kind of doubt that offer was still commitable
You care enough to ask a question. Think about that.
Totally expected this to be a post from 1201, complete with snark and falling skies.
Fire Borges
To hell with Notre Dame.
Fuck Ohio
We got a commit from Zac Zinter on Thursday.
Things are looking good for Henning, but I wouldn't expect a commitment until later in the summer at the earliest. Kid wants to do his due diligence, and I'm still not 100% certain were ahead of Notre Dame. Trending that way for sure, but he's a smart kid, and will be doing his due diligence. And it's a misnomer that McCarthy is his QB. They're friends, but different schools and different classes.
Nobody gives a fucking fuck about this kid ruining his life by going to east landfill. Don’t post sparty trash on this board.
apparently our coaching staff cared enough to extend the kid an offer at some point. that seems to be right on mission with the board. and if you blew an unnecessary gasket on this one, you must have been punching out your key board and screen with the baseball book diary, TV thread from last night, and many others.
EDIT: and prepare to be apoplectic when someone puts up the inevitable GoT- Final Episode! thread in about 11 hours.
Best of luck to Ian.
