OT: Helton to... Georgia Southern as the new HC
I admit, I did not see this coming. L.A. to Statesboro, GA is an interesting move. I imagine his $10M buyout will get some prime real estate there.

If he plays his cards right, his quality of life and career overall will be much better now

Yeah, he had a pretty good lifestyle. Now he's going to a podunk town. I don't think I'd take that trade.

I dunno... Savannah sounds like a much better place to retire than SoCal.

The Putin can damn well retire wherever he damn well pleases. But if he want to play lots of bocce, Putin should really retire in Sochi.

I woke up this morning, I had them Statesboro Blues.

He will still see a lot of Blue Sky.

From USC to a southern directional school is an interesting career arc.

Helton as a HC at a top school is wishful thinking going forward. He can carve out a "good living" and quality of life if he turns Ga Southern around. Job security and $$ plus living in the south isn't too shabby

Los Angeles to Statesboro, Georgia would be a pretty staggering transition. The issue with LA is that it's expensive. When you're a millionaire like Helton, that isn't too much of a problem.

I've been to Statesville. Nothing against it, but I wouldn't want to live there.

USC just happens to be the Mother of All Directional Schools.

Yeah, usually fired USC coaches become Saban's next OC

Fired P5 college coach - one of the best careers in the nation.

Well, that's one way to get away from USC boosters certainly...

Most people wish they had it as good as Helton in Statesboro. He can move back up in a few years if it works out. Would it be better to be an OC somewhere? He wasn't ever a head coach before USC so maybe he wants to work on being a better head coach.

Ain’t gonna lie. My initial thought was Todd Helton, not Clay. Not sure why.

When the top thing to do is “drive somewhere else so you can go to the Tanger Outlets” … yeah, you’re not in L.A. anymore
