MSU wins: Let the excuses begin
Michigan State escapes tonight with a win against Rutgers. The excuses will begin, the statements that "all that matters is whether you win."
Actually, MSU winning is the best possible outcome for Michigan. We will beat them when they are undefeated, and this is more of a "quality" win, not that it matters.
I have analyzed my feelings regarding OSU and MSU.
- OSU is more important, but I respect them more, and hate them less.
- MSU doesn't matter as much, but I want to destroy and obliterate them, and dislike them more.
I am so looking forward to next week.

Lol that was a classic Big Ten game.
I think next week's game will be close, but it's clear who the better team is this year. It's been a while.

Dantonio ripped off redshirt off gun slinging Delton Williams. This was supposed to be a year of punishment in lieu of getting kicked off team but when push comes to shove ... well so much for that.
Just tiring to see MSU not get upset by a weaker team once in 2.5 years.
MSU using all it can use right now to get through this. Obviously, the plan was to redshirt Delton Williams before this.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. This year now burns a year of his eligibility.

How is this thread not on the sequence of Rutgers spiking the ball on 4th down and their interim head coach just staring into space completely unaware of his surroundings?
I can't believe I just witnessed that. I've never seen anything quite like it.

We're fans. We can say what we want. It has no bearing on any game.
October 10th, 2015 at 11:49 PM ^
I'm tired as hell of the apologist fans so scurred about saying anything about our rival. These same fans who apparently forget that Sparty has recently had 7 good years and 40 years immediately prior to that of complete f'n mediocrity. Yes, Michigan was down for those most recent 7 years but now, they are most certainly not.
You don't need to "beat your rival" before you can have something to say about them or the rivalry. That's silly. Michigan fans should have every reson to feel some hope and confidence about next week's game v. Sparty and that's something that's been seven years in the waiting.
That light at the end of the tunnel for Sparty? It's the train.

I'm buying on this team now. I go to my seats each week and I expect this defense to god damn well wreck people with wins to follow.
They are physical, nasty and play with an edge I last remember seeing on Ravens defenses coached by one G. Mattison.
I'll take it.

In Ann Arbor, we regularly won big. It was in East Lansing that they'd make a game of it.

before 2008, Staaee hadn't won in AA since 1990

I agree. Even when we were regularly beating them, the games were rarely blowouts. Given the past eight years, I don't take any team for granted especially MSU and OSU.

The top three things I have heard from MSU fans regarding UM fans are
1. Arrogance
2. Entitlement
3. Delusion
And hell, I'll admit that a lot of bad UM fans(You know, the tweets at recruits type) had those traits. But they checked off 1&2 long ago for themselves. And now you can officially check off 3. I'm aleady seeing the Spartan portion of my twitter say they expect a victory. I'm not sure how considering they've been in a dogfight every game this year and their best victory is over a team that just lost to Washington State. They're saying that Dantonio simply, "won't let them lose". He is a great coach but they treat this guy like he's Tom Landry or Vince Lombardi. With that said, they very well could win. Hold them under 20 and I believe we will win.

they are beat up, to be sure, but they just do not look dominant on either side of the ball right now. We see that the Oregon win is not nearly what is was cracked up to be, and they really haven't played anyone else. Still, Cook & Co is going to be a tough test of our defense.
October 10th, 2015 at 11:52 PM ^
More like our defense is going to be a tough test for Cook.
He hasn't seen relentless pressure like he'll see next week in his career.
He'll break. They all do.

They will certainly use injury excuse. To be fair, they have had a ton of injuries, which has been really bad for them. That's part of the reason I want Michigan to run up the score, and to shut them out. That would make it more clear that Michigan was going to win regardless of injuries to MSU.
October 11th, 2015 at 12:24 AM ^
They are going to lose 3 games. Michigan, OSU and Penn State. Penn State is better than Purdue and Rutgers.

I have surveyed many of the ones I know in the wake of our game against Northwestern, and with the more reasonable ones, there is a liegitimate sense of nervousness right now. In that particular segment of the MSU fan population, you will find people that can concede that their game against Rutgers does not give them sustantial hope for next Saturday, but they do remain hopeful.

Rutgers should have won that game...Sparty was very very lucky. Rutgers had their asses in the first half & fourth quarter.

Man, I was really rooting for you to be correct. I wanted Sparty down today...

Cal was ranked, undefeated and has scored on everyone coming into this game. Utah isn't allowed to win close? Pretty much everyone has won close games at this point, except for Baylor whose best win is Texas Tech.
So if you want to drop Utah in the polls for this game, it's going to be hard to find teams to put in your top 10.

Rutgers spiking the ball on fourth down I yelled a big "Sparty NOOOOO!!!!!"
