What if we win on Sat?
Has anybody thought about the consequences aftermath of us winning on Saturday? I know it seems like a distant possibility, but at the end of the day...it's still Rutgers. If this game was based solely on talent, we win the first half by 2 TDs. Plus road games are preferred as opposed to playing in what has become a toxic environment.
I believe Hoke is officially done if we are no longer bowl eligible, like "Press Conference at 11AM Monday Done". And I think getting to 6 or 7 wins just delays that press conference until December or January.
But I would at least like to hear what people's reactions/feelings may be after a positive outcome especially under such negative circumstances. Will it be "let bygones be bygones" in relations to Hoke? I think we may be 3-3 come 10PM Saturday night. Am I crazy? I mean...it's still Rutgers.

Hoke should declare this in a Public Way, before the game--
-- I hereby, Un-Shackle The Nuss-O . . .
This would get it all, On The Record . . .

Might be time to seriously consider the possibility that our "talent" ain't quite as "talented" as we've been thinking it is.

Rutgers has a RS FR DE who already has 5 sacks this season. Their dline has 21 sacks thru 5 games.
You can trust that at some point around 9 PM Saturday people will be asking in the game thread "why can't we get talent like Rutgers?" Sigh.

I would guess that anyone they've played so far has to have a better O-line than what they'll see Saturday.
Hell.

Before our season started I was giving Funk the benefit of the doubt since Lewan and Schofield were drafted, my rationale being that he couldn't be completely bad at coaching if these guys who played under him for three years made it to the NFL.
Based on what's happened so far this year—that our OL is only marginally better than last year's complete tire fire—I've concluded that there's no reason to think we'll ever have a good OL with the current staff in place.

the comparative is something like-- What-How, would a REAL MICHIGAN-OC have done this year and LY for eg. Whether its Debord, or back earlier to Malone, and even futher back.
Now, they might actually say-- well, we always had Good O-linemen. One way or another . . .
Borges LY had Lewan-Schofield at OT, and the RB-RunGame was still Very Poor. It might very well be, that the current OL-arrangement simply is Poor.
In any event-- for me Any REAL MICHIGAN-OC, should be able to work thru this and NOT get caught-up in @-MSU and @-NDm game-Disasters, and certainly NOT be The Absolute Catastrophe that The Nuss-O has been.

If you are a fan you will want Michigan to win. Now this Rutgers team will be one of our easiest games left so Hoke will be on the Hot seat regardless. I realisticly hope to go 6-6 and see Hoke fired somtime mid season (ASAP). He obviously does not have what it takes to coach a Big 10 school.

I wouldn't be too surprised if we went 4-1 against Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, Indiana and Northwestern.
Its not like the rest of the Big Ten isn't bad. None of those teams are particularly impressive.
October 2nd, 2014 at 11:18 AM ^
I know, it's a home UTL game and they just lost to Northwestern, but...they won last year with an empty cupboard, a true freshman quarterback, and absolutely nothing to play for.
This time their QB is a year older and he's actually pretty good. Suddenly they're eligible to compete for postseason play and their new coach seems to have a little more going on between the ears than Hoke. Plus ever since Lloyd retired (who owned that school) they've just seemed to have our number in the weirdest way.

That's odd, because that's exactly what I thought of the Utah and Minnesota games after ND.

Meh. I'd prefer that Hoke got suspended for 1-2 games to show that we don't screw around with concussions. I think that I would demand that of a rival's coach that did the same thing, unintentional or not. i don't feel like rooting for Michigan this game, and I stuck through '08, '09, '10, '13, and various other seasons.
There should at least be fierce competition at the game about whose athletic director sucks more. We should win that easily, because This Is Michigan.

Nothing this season has stayed "on script" except the App State game. Therefore I expect that we will beat Rutgers convincingly, hitting on all cylinders. Probably we'll even block a punt for a safety. No one will know what to do or say afterwards.

I think Rutgers is going to win on Saturday. If the program had a theme song right now, it would be from the late Warren Zevon: "My Shit's Fucked Up."
October 2nd, 2014 at 3:03 AM ^
They we've beaten freakin RUTGERS.
BFD. Why would that change anything? I'm mean sure, it's better than losing, but if the bar for the program is beating RUTGERS then let's just pack up and leave right now.

Are we really debating how we'd feel about a Michigan win?
I'd be damned happy for the team and staff. After this week (season?) from hell it would be a bit of well deserved gratification.
We've got a bunch of kids, and a coach for that matter, who are here because they love Michigan. They work harder at this than most of us will ever work at anything.
GO BLUE!

Nothing changes, we still have an AD and head coach that need to exit the building. The damage to the Dave and Brady show is beyond repair.
October 2nd, 2014 at 7:04 AM ^
If we win, that's good. We win. To me, the only way Brady Hoke is HC next year is if Michigan wins out and the bowl game. Beat MSU and OSU on the road and probably some SEC team in the bowl game and my faith in Hoke will be restored. Don't do that, eh. It'd be nice to see a win. Michigan can still go bowling if they get their shit together.

And I think getting to 6 or 7 wins just delays that press conference until December or January.I think that press conference is delayed until December or January regardless of the number of wins Michigan has if only because the President and the Regents have to deal with getting rid of Brandon first. I can't imagine, after the absolute clownshow these past couple of weeks, that the University would allow David Brandon to stand up at the podium and proudly introduce the next head football coach at the University of Michigan. That would be unfathomable.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:44 AM ^
There's still a very good chance that nightmare will happen. Brandon didn't get where he is in life by laying down. He has considerable political clout and powerful backers.
