Michigan Negotiating Home And Home With Texas
This has been in the rumble stages for a month or so now, but this is the first mention from an actual reporter in the wild:
Texas and Michigan are currently negotiating home-and-home football series according to sources. Talks are going well #Longhorns #HookEm

They are "working on dates" that are a decade out, so don't book your plane tickets yet. If this comes to fruition it would be the first games Brandon has booked in the aftermath of Notre Dame's cancellation of the series that come close to the wow factor ND provides.

Only I'd rather keep Hoke around than get Mack Brown, if that is what you're alluding to.

Oklahoma comes close to the WOW factor of Notre Dame, IMHO. Florida, while a one-off, is also pretty Wow.
I'm not putting Virginia Tech, Washington, or Arkansas on Notre Dame/Texas/Florida's level, but they're hardly Little Sisters of the Poor. All of those games will be hot tickets.
For Swarbrick having the jump on Brandon, I think he's booked a pretty diverse, interesting group of opponents that'll bring great non-conf games to the Big House and give alumni/fans in the other 4 conferences' footprints opportunities to see UM as well.

But playing them both in the same season is pretty cool.

will these games even be on TV?

I don't understand Michigan's offensive line woes, therefore aliens.

avery hard sell right now, thankfully we have an x pizza ceo.

This is better than Notre Dame ... it puts us deep into talent rich Texas. A home-and-home with Florida or FSU would also be good.

Nothing says "Come to Michigan" like a 31-0 loss in Austin.
/too soon

No chance it's "better" than Notre Dame, a traditional rival who we regularly compete with for prospects and regional bragging rights. But, it is an interesting game and a welcome addition to the schedule. It would be nice to get one of these larger name opponents to commit to a series rather than just two games so we could gin up a new rivalry.

Both programs are looking to get back on track so this makes real good sense to make this happen. By the way Michigan and Texas are the programs that bring in the most revenue so I could definately see this happen.
September 9th, 2014 at 6:40 PM ^
Yeah, go figure. Nobody gets more revenue out of less wins than Michigan and Texas.

Today: Wait until the ink dries, then Fire Brandon!

Mainly because I respect him.
I truly think that if you got his seat hot enough he'd be able to fix things.
And hey, if he doesn't you should still get a free pizza out of all of this.
(no one should take this post seriously. If you do, feel free to neg but after realize that it was an admittedly stupid post. Stupid enough that I'll neg myself [and I'm aware why my post is pretty dang stupid, bronx).

Not a Brandon fan but give credit where it's due -- this is a great deal.
Let's just hope we're ready football-wise!

Please please schedule this in A2 on the years that MSU and OSU are on the road.
September 9th, 2014 at 5:52 PM ^
Whoa, you don't understand THE ALGORITHM. Michigan has to play Texas, Oklahoma, OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, MSU, and Nebraska on the road in the same year [and then at home the next year] and there's nothing that any human can do about that.

Oklahoma's WOW > Florida's WOW > UCLA's WOW > Texas's WOW > ND's WOW > Washington WOW > Arkansas's > WOW > Va Tech's WOW

UCLA is a few WOWs too high
September 9th, 2014 at 5:55 PM ^
Eh, with wowiness I'd go...
Texas > ND > Oklahoma > UCLA > Florida (in Dallas) > Washington > VA Tech > (BYU >) Arkansas
