Michigan Stadium to host High School prom
high schools were charged the same rates as other parties that would book events at the stadium. The locker room walk-through costs $100, and entering the stadium through the tunnel and spending time on the field costs $300. The rental fee for the Jack Roth Stadium Club is $9,000, and includes tables, chairs, security and parking.

If my HS was doing this, I'd actually go to my senior prom. A VERY small consolation is my graduation next month being at The Palace.
Nothing says romance quite like a tour of a locker room.
Ahhhhh young love.
"And this is where Brady Hoke sits when he eats a whole party sub in one sitting"
/kids ooooo-ing and ahhhh-ing.
What a classic.
That would be a pretty nice prom, assuming the weather is good.
be on either the 3rd or 4th floors on the east side... thats where they always hold the large events...
to walk through the tunnel though
You just know kids will be trying to get laid in the locker room. Ugh
I went to a sorority's formal during my time at UM which was held at Comerica. We were all given the boot when it was discovered 2 couples were getting busy in the dugout...
Is that one couple in each dugout?
They didn't spring for any of the extras except for lighting up the field for a while. Of course, it's quite possible that I was too drunk to realize they did. My mature response was to steal a few plates with the Tiger's logo on them.
gives a whole new meaning to "touching the banner"
or "Hold the Rope"
You know at least one couple is gonna try to screw on the 50-yard-line.
Why wouldn't you go to your senior prom anyhow? Also you must be in a UCS high school if your graduation is at the Palace.
Yes, I am in one of the four schools.
I don't see the point of going to prom unless you have a date or a girlfriend.
To drink? To be young and stupid, but not drive...don't do that. Just live a little bit man!
I never ruled out the after parties. I went to the homecoming after party and got pasted for the first time. Went to the party, AFTER the Michigan-indiana game ended of course.
Not sure if the headache the next morning was from the Labatt or the defensive performance against Indiana.
Aww... are you one of those "too cool for the prom guys"? I say just go and enjoy it. Live in the moment. Just ask out the ugliest girl you know and have a blast. Don't worry about what anyone says or thinks and live your life. It's already 1/3 to 1/4 over.
The school I teach at has $100 prom tickets...
So, yeah, $500 might not be far off.
yep, the school I teach at has $85 tickets. The prom is at the Livonia Manor. It is not a cheap night anymore.
let's all help wolverine devotee get a date!!
anyone know any eligible bachelorettes in southeast michigan?
to Pretty In Pink,
This time starring Wolverine Devotee.
Get a date. Ask a younger girl. Most want to go, regardless who takes them. Prom isn't the greatest thing in the world, but I wouldn't want to miss out on it.
Get on that, then. It's high school; it's not nearly as difficult as you convince yourself it is.
Eh, little too late. Plus, it's pretty expensive.
Dude, it's 2014, have you heard of Kickstarter? There are ppl on this blog just dying to drop a few bux so that you can have a fun time.
Heck, if Vincent Smith can run a Kickstarter for digging up a garden (or to bury his helmet), then you can start up one to go to prom!
i'd probably contribute a few bucks to a WD kickstarter. Catch is he would have to ask out a girl
He'd probably raise enough money to hire a goddamn escort in addition to prom tickets.
Don't listen to them. I didn't go to any proms, and I've never regretted it once. I had plenty of friends who went and plenty who didn't, and to be honest, the ones that did really don't think too much of it now (5 years later).
I think it may be that proms are just not as big of a deal as they were for the older generations.
On the other hand, if you think you can get laid then go for it!
I hereby pledge 10 bucks towards the Kickstarter to get you to go to prom...provided you ask Kate Upton via twitter. You could even link to the page.
Fucking offseason, man.
Completely agree. My friends and I played video games all night. We didn't want to go stag. Besides, I already went to my junior prom and it was completely lame.
The palace sounds great! I graduated at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. This facility houses the state's finest livestock during the annual fair. It perpetually smells like shit.
and I thought "Holy Crap, season ticket sales must be so bad that DB is looking for other revenue streams..."
-A bar mitzvah?
-A dog show?
-Horse racing?
-Fashion show?
-CARNIVAL??
I remember when this was OUR stadium and like sacred ground. Those days are apparently gone.
And who cares. I have a feeling just about everyone in major CFB is using their stadium in creative ways to generate fuds for the program.
You know we have like 6-8 home games a year right?
for an ENDZONE view of this year's glorious slate.
I guess I missed the page in the Domino's handbook where it says that in order to "build a brand" it is a good idea to treat one of the greatest venues in sports like a VFW hall. That must be why the Red Sox make all that sweet cheddar from bingo night at Fenway Park.
Good thing we're rounding up all these extra pennies now so that we can pay top dollar for coordinators whose former employers don't want them any more and so girls can play lacrosse. And be sure to still raise prices on everything else, because this is a zero sum game where every ounce of short term revenue must be extracted from the public's pockets or we won't be able to beat Iowa at football ever again.
It's a pretty swanky VFW hall. I regularly run the east steps, which gets me a first-hand view of all the 1%ers and other swells who pull up to the Jack Ross entrance in their Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, Cadillac, and Lincoln SUVS, Expeditions, blinged-up Hummers, Porsches, Vettes, etc etc as they disgorge their pampered sons and daughters and wives. It's quite the spectacle.
