Stauskas Big Ten POY, Beilein Splits COY (with Miles)
Stauskas goes from being one of the most efficient role players in America last season to being one of the most efficient PLAYERS in America this season.
As for Beilein, what more can be said that hasn't already been said.
We're quite lucky to get to root for both of these guys, as well as the rest of the team. Looking forward to a great next 3-4 weeks of the season (hopefully).
Walton also made the All-Freshman first team, LeVert All-Big Ten 2nd team, and JMo got snubbed on making the All-Defense first team
Fourth-straight year a Wolverine has been on the All-Freshman team: Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke, Glenn Robinson III, Caris LeVert.
Who's next?
Caris?
You're saying Caris next POY? Hope so!
I actually meant who'd be the fifth-straight to be on All-Freshman team. Obviously, the top candidate is Kameron Chatman—although Sam Webb keeps saying how underrated D.J. Wilson is.
I messed that one up! It's Hardaway, Burke, Robinson, Walton, . . .
That's Jr., III, III, Jr.
right after the Indiana game! Suck it Crean
Michigan won the Big Ten title, B1G POY, and B1G COY in one season for the first time since 1985.

...all your awards are belong to us
...with the man responsible for Nebrasketball is something I can certainly live with. Congratulations to all three winners.
Oh man....
Not on all-freshman team? Same thing happened to Stauskas last year... RT @zirvin21: Everything happens for a reason...fuel to the fire
Well?
Can't imagine that's been done too often.
It has, but rarely ever by two different players from the same team. It's incredibly impressive to have the Big Ten player of the year two years running, but even moreso to have them be different guys (as opposed to one transcendent player winning it several times).

If Stauskas wins B1G POY, it'd be the 2nd time a school's won two straight years w/ different players (MSU: Cleaves '99, Peterson '00).

EDIT: Note that this is only going back to 1985.
EDIT2: This tweet was incorrect—this was actually the third time this has happened. The first time was Michigan's Gary Grant in 1988 and Glen Rice in 1989. (h/t Team 101 below.)
That's pretty cool. It's crazy to think how far this program has come since Brian Ellerbe.

Can we stop sharing awards with Nebraska and win them outright?
But it's a good 2 things to share. Beats sharing last place or a prison cell!
We only have coaches to blame
In 1997 it sucked. This time, I like it. Both coaches deserved it. Both are good guys.
were on the All Big Ten injured-but-would-have-averaged-at-least-27 team. That award was handed out off camera.
I hear Izzo cried when he heard the news and then tried to beat up old Grandma on a walker.
We have a real chance with Levert next year to win 3 in a row (or McGary*, GR3*) - Yogi and Petteway look to be main competition there.
Amazing condition of program.
Here are the 2nd teams if curious
2nd team media: Yogi, Caris, Craft, Payne, Newbill
2nd team coaches: same as above, but without Craft and add Dekker from Wiscy
still having a boner for Craft. As it's been well over 4 hours, shouldn't they call their physician?
Dont forget Walton, we've seen what PGs do in their second year with Beilein and Walton is the highest rated of the bunch.
Hopefully Yogi goes pro. He has the body for the NBA right now.
Admittedly only watching his two games against us, it's hard to believe he has much development left in his game. He shot the lights out the first game, and was the fastest player on the court last night, especially the first half. Not that our defense has been subperb, but he was leaving everyone in his wake.
It is nice to see Michigan recognized for its outstanding talent, coaching and its performance in what is a very competitive conference. Nick was Big Ten player of the week for the fourth time, just this morning and now he's Big Ten Player of the Year. I wonder how how many times a conference player of the year has also earned the Wooden Award? I assume someone has stats on this, but I can't imagine it is all that often.
I can live with JB and Miles sharing the award. Both did a great job.
I wonder how this works - were they actually tied, or was it just close, and the league office decided to step in and declare them co-winners?
No. There are 2 awards - media and coaches. Miles won the coaches award, Coach B won the media award.
My reaction to Beilein interview? He looked pissed that the other coaches didn't vote for him. Either that or he had tape to get back to.

I saw Beilein tonight durng the radio show. He was in a really good mood. He was very excited for Nik and Caris and even more excited for the B1G outright championship. He didn't want to talk about COY - the championship speaks for itself.
Won't be seeing any banners hung up in pinnacle bank arena this year. That's all ours
It actually ran through my head last night that this would be the perfect outcome. All three of those guys deserve an award and all three of those guys got an award. I like it.
The mgoblue.com release shows Glenn Robinson III was named honorable mention All–Big Ten by both the coaches and media, and Jon Horford was Michigan's sportsmanship award honoree.
AND Denzel Valentine for the sportsmanship award at MSU?
WOW. #Joke
Those were no brainers...Morgan should be on the defensive team and Payne is the CLEAR winner of their sportsmanship award.
Congratulations to all the winners....all deserved.
I have rarely enjoyed a season of baxketball as much as this past year. Let's hope for great things in March.
I can't remember a basketball season I've enjoyed more. With Trey and Tim the expectations were way higher so it was harder (at least for me) to enjoy the ride until last season's tourney run. This year many were writing the team off after a 6-4 start. I remember telling my dad that I thought they'd come around, given the youth on the team and Belein's development track record. My dad thought they'd win around 18 games. I never saw this coming but I thought they'd do better. This year has gone above my wildest expectations, and that's why the ride has been so enjoyable. Thanks team, and go blue!
