Any news on McDowell?

This is a strange situation. Some rumblings he may come to Michigan.

What the hell does not signing on signing day have to do with anything? Signing day is an arbitrary day that fans think prospects should sign since most recruits sign that day. But it is only the first day athletes are allowed to sign an LOI.

Although this situation is different since he actually did sign on signing day (for state).

Either way, if the Michigan coaches want him then who is any fan to say that "he's not right for the team"? I for one would be quite pleased.

Top prospects over the past few years who have not signed on NSD have generally had further bumps in the road (Pryor, Seantrel Henderson, Bryce Brown), but there are also guys like Alex Kozan who seemed genuinely conflicted, quietly signed with Auburn, and AFAIK has had no serious troubles on his way to starting in the National Championship game this past season.

Honestly, the kid wants to go to State, let him go to State. It is not going to benefit anyone, him or the school, to force him to go somewhere he does not want to go.

I had a ton of friends who wanted to be at Michigan, but ended up loving State. There have been plenty of players who feel the same why.

If he buys in when he's here, I don't care if his first choice was OSU or WMU. Just have to trust he's invested in Michigan if he chooses.

So did I... in fact, you can identify, without fail, a sparty who applied to michigan and wanted to go to michigan but got rejected.... you can identify them by their insane level of hatred... its quite comical actually.

I grew up in Indiana and therefore an IU Basketball fan and later an ND Football fan.  All of that changed during my first semester at the University of Michigan.  I am now a die hard Wolverine.  I don't hate ND.  I didn't hate IU until last year when Crene was such an ass and Home Depot dunked during the clock kill.  Now "to hell with ......IU".

If Malik attends UofM he will be brian washed just like I was.

Spielman did not "want to come here."  That meme stems from a story told by Spielman that goes something like, "I aksed my dad what he would think if I chose Michigan, and my dad said 'You're going to Ohio State and that's the end of that."

Spielman wasn't the same cordial and respectful person you see/hear today.  There are stories of him waltzing in to Bo's office with his hat on backwards and a big chew in his lip - two things Bo loathed as much as anything.

to the McDowell to Michigan scuttlebutt.  There have been a few posts recently with "inside information" that haven't automatically been deleted, which usually means that the mods feel/know that there is some veracity to the information being shared.

Well, as you guys know, Mr. McDowell has continued to fight the good fight against the mighty McDonald's corporation. He cotinues to provide stellar service to the Queens neighborhood, and still proivides food for the black awareness rallies.

Per Rivals: There is a post up from some dude who said a "source" told him that the MSU coaches were saying the only reason MM was interested in FSU is because FSU was going to pay him.

Mom heard that and is pissed.

Also, there is the fact that the MSU coaches have let star players blow off classes in the past and when asked about it by Mom they had no answers.

That's pretty much it.

Mom isn't budging and maybe she can convince MM to come to UM. Nobody knows anything other than that IMO.

EDIT: Also in a  post from earlier this week Tim Sullivan seems to think we are actually the very slight favorite to land MM. I still think that would be mighty shocking IMO

Still says Michigan is in it. Apparently something happened on the official visit and you couple that with the negative social vibe she has about sparty and this is what you get. Webb has said the situation was told to him off record so he's not at liberty to discuss.
