Corum joining Rich Eisen's show today to announce his plans for next year
January 9th, 2023 at 10:06 AM ^
This is either good or bad. I should have thought to bring a paper bag!
January 9th, 2023 at 10:08 AM ^
"This is either good or bad."
Expert analysis!
January 9th, 2023 at 10:08 AM ^
My guess is its a 50/50 decision
January 9th, 2023 at 11:48 AM ^
Its a 100/0 decision. Lol
January 9th, 2023 at 10:08 AM ^
Devil's advocate: he's the Heisman favorite if he comes back, right? Replace Edwards' production in the games he missed with Corum and he would've won it hands down
January 9th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
Caleb Williams would likely be the favorite.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:18 AM ^
Might be when the line opens, but the long history of the Heisman suggests that betting on a repeat is wasted money
January 9th, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
As the new-age Heisman trends show (Jameis, Manziel, Baker, Kyler) it is a QB award, but even if guys have a better year after winning the Heisman, they never win it again.
January 9th, 2023 at 12:54 PM ^
I agree. If you should bet on any Michigan player winning the next Heisman, bet on JJ.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:30 AM ^
Is there any truth to the rumor that Williams is striking up NIL deals with Ulta Beauty and Sephora to be the “face” for men’s fingernail care?
It’s being discussed - in a similar way as Day has been for “Just for Men” and their hair coloring. I’ve heard that “Just for Men” is looking to extend their product portfolio and nail care is the next market segment being targeted.
If so, is Williams the right spokesman?
January 9th, 2023 at 11:39 AM ^
There's a reason that there's only been one repeat winner in the history of the Heisman award. He could do it, but history suggests he won't.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:32 AM ^
I hope Michigan wouldn't run him that much to where he would be the favorite. DE was hurt for half the year so they kinda had to, but a true 50/50 split of non-garbage time snaps would be ideal. Save some tread for late in the season (and also for their respective NFL careers).
Or they open it up more with JJ. That would be cool too. Either way, I really dont want to see Corum get 30 rushes against Maryland
January 9th, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
yeah they need a 'junk time' RB that they can give a bunch of carries against the Marylands and Indianas of the world.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
They have the dudes for that too. Mullings, Dunlap, Stokes, the walk-on kid who dropped a pass against Illinois I am forgetting the name of. Any of them could fill that role nicely.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:33 AM ^
I think some folks on this board are pretty down on Stokes and Mullings, but given that the former is a true freshman and the latter spent 90% of the season practicing at LB, I think it's more than plausible to turn one or both of them into reasonable backups.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
I don't think anyone is down on Stokes or Mullings. We're wondering what happened to Stokes - he hasn't been heard from since he missed a cut in the second series against OSU. And we're wondering why Mullings got a hurried handoff on 4th and goal from the one. Give it to him? Sure. Rush everything to shove into his hands? NO!!!
January 9th, 2023 at 11:45 AM ^
i'm not very high on Stokes, more non-commital on Mullings.
Usually you can see whether or not a guy has 'it' pretty quickly - for example even Karan Higdon as a freshman was more serviceable than Stokes. I'd love to be wrong but I'm not seeing it with Stokes.
Edit - I am wrong about Higdon. He barely got any time as a freshman. I stand by my point though i'd have to point to other players such as Charbonnet or Edwards who showed flashes as true freshmen.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
That play has got to go. When they called Wilson down I knew 100% that was the play the were going to run and 100% they were going to fumble it. Fumbles from the 1 yard line from a bunch formation have been a very unwelcome feature of the Harbaugh era.
January 9th, 2023 at 12:09 PM ^
That qb sneak with a push from behind must be way too complicated for Jim to wrap his head around. Infinitely more complicated than Philly Special.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
Im not big on either. I may be in the minority, but after Edwards leaves, were in trouble. I think we need to land a blue chipper in 2023. A stud. And before anyone says Cabana, he seems more Sam McGuffie/Michael Shaw than Donovan Edwards.
January 9th, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
Even worse, unfortunately it was 1st and goal but everything else, totally agree!
January 9th, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
Isaiah Gash... He's a walk-on! Why did he get that pass???
January 9th, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
He got the pass because he put in his hours in practice and the coaches thought he was the best man for the job, so much so that they passed it to him later, and he caught it.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:16 AM ^
I said this in another thread that I have this on good authority that Corum is coming back. I don't know if this Harbaugh fiasco will have any impact on this, but I do know that some donor/NIL money is keeping Corum here.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
This makes more sense. If JH does walk, got to think there will be a line out the door for the Michigan job with this roster coming back.
Obviously, would be an amazing job under any circumstances but usually not doing a job search when things are on this level of upswing.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:52 AM ^
I hope you're correct but I have my doubts. New coach would have some big shoes to fill and anything less than playoffs will be viewed as a failure. Not in a recruiting hot bed either. Maintaining the current trajectory is no small task. Bar was raised by JH.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:59 AM ^
Ehh, I wouldn't think so. Need to win 4 out 5 times against MSU or PSU and need to go 50/50 with OSU with the losses being close. If you don't make a 4 team playoff, it's not a failure in my view.
January 9th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
I agree but would add there's only 1 more year of the 4 team playoff. After that, I think it'll be reasonable to say that not making the 12 team field would feel like a failure. Unless the hierarchy of the conferences changes significantly, the 2nd place B1G team should be a near-lock for an at-large bid, and the 3rd place B1G team would stand a reasonable chance of getting in with some help.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
I have this on good authority
What authority? Who?
January 9th, 2023 at 10:50 AM ^
It's all over Counterstrike so you can Raback it.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:58 AM ^
Ufer family member. I’ve mentioned thy they have been wrong in the past on some intel, so we’ll see here.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:34 AM ^
Hart believes, as of this morning, he’s back. We’ll see what happens. One of the guys in that running back room on scholarship plans to transfer. If Corum does stay, Michigan could see a second guy transfer. Something to look out for.
Hart is hoping to convince the second guy to stay. Split carries next year 55/30/15 with Corum/Edwards/Stokes. Edwards would get another 30% playing as a second back to Corum in a two back system or getting some time at receiver. So in theory Edwards would get more time than Corum and Corum has a huge NIL package coming.
Side note, there is a chance Matt Weiss is getting hired by an NFL team, even with Harbaugh staying. If that happens look for Moore to become sole offensive coordinator, but Michigan will hire a passing game coordinator who is also the QB coach. This is not a sure thing, but also again something to possibly look out for. Weiss is respected in the NFL and wants to get back there. Staff is still solid on Harbaugh coaching Michigan in 2023. Business as usual and some of that plays into Corum staying.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:44 AM ^
MJ, thank you again for sharing. very cool of you.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:46 AM ^
I suspect the transfer worry is Stokes? And I can't blame him - he disappeared after the second series against OSU.
As for Weiss going off to the NFL, have at it! I would love, Love, LOVE a new passing game coordinator to help out Moore.
Your post is music to my ears. Keep up this good work and I'll award you the dollar that XM owes Mgrow!
January 9th, 2023 at 12:27 PM ^
Would be a bummer if Stokes goes because I thought he showed flashes of being the heir apparent ones Corum & Edwards are gone. If he leaves, I'm pretty sure he'll be a quality starter wherever he lands which will be a bummer
January 9th, 2023 at 12:55 PM ^
Hey now, there’s still hope that harbaugh stays and MgrowOld will owe me the $1
January 9th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
Or Dunlap.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
Thought you said UPer family member there for a second. I was wonder what connection the UP has to Corum.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:18 AM ^
Hope he comes back but I won't be the slightest bit upset if he doesn't. He was one of if not the best RBs in the country this year and there really isn't much more he could prove, unless he is hellbent on winning a national title. And with his knee injury this year and RB shelf lives in the NFL being what they are, I wouldn't be upset if he wanted to start making some real money in his immediate future.
Whatever he chooses, I'll be cheering for him.

Anyone a grad from Ross who works for Butterball?
We could use a little NIL right now.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:35 AM ^
I was going to declare for the draft, but somebody from Butterball called me at noon today and offered me some free turkeys to give away next Thanksgiving. Now I'm staying. Special shout out to Gustave who made it all happen.
Blake Corum at 2 PM today. ( Probably)
January 9th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
I was hoping that we could hit up Alro Steel for some dough.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
If Corum was declaring for the draft, I feel like he would have announced it via twitter. Announcing something on Eisen’s show seems like it sets up for an announcement that will make big waves. On the other hand, I have no idea what I’m taLking about.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:37 AM ^
MGoUsername checks out with your last sentence!
January 9th, 2023 at 11:01 AM ^
At the risk of confirming your thought, I’ll go ahead and admit that I have no idea what you mean.

Spelling...
January 9th, 2023 at 12:45 PM ^
How do you think it should be spelled? You do realize that your username looks like an autogenerated WiFi username, right?
January 9th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
Should be spelled "taLking."
January 9th, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
We’LL, shit. Autocorrect happens.
January 9th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
All good homie! If we didn't mess with ya it would mean we didn't care.
