Official start time and announcing crew for Saturday night (do I hear Taps playing for State?)
(I don't know if this has already been posted. I scrolled looking if it was)
I personally like Todd Blackledge a lot. I'm happy he's there.
Here's hoping for a Blue explosion, 70-0!
October 27th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
I could do without hearing McDonough's voice during a Michigan-MSU game ever again, but, I guess I'll have to do with.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
I know what you mean, but it is the best ABC crew by a mile, so I’m good with it.
October 27th, 2022 at 8:28 PM ^
I like that Todd Blackledge keeps an even keel. And he makes short, simple points. I don't like the exaggeration eruptions from some announcers.
October 27th, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
Can’t wait for his taste of the town feature!
October 27th, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
No, sir. Matt Millen is much more traumatic to the greater Metro Detroit area.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:11 PM ^
That's a good crew - hoping they witness an epic ass kicking of Sparty!!!
Go Blue!!!
October 27th, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
Herbie didn't want to stop by Ann Arbor? Still has PTSD from his playing days?
October 27th, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
0-3-1
October 27th, 2022 at 7:15 PM ^
Sean McDonough? So we're guaranteed to hear at least 5 replays of his 2015 "trouble with the snap and the ball is free" call? Great.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:17 PM ^
He also promoted Nebraska's case heavily when they were pounding Tennessee during bowl season of the "shared championship" year.
Long time ago, but the memory is still fresh ...
October 27th, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
We can put that rest after a BIG MEEEECHIGAN VICTORY!!!
October 27th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
He redeemed himself in my mind for his “HASKINS UP AND OVER. One of the runs of the season in college football”
and of course:
”It’s the Tight End Erick All with lots of running room. Down the sideline. Will they catch him?!? NO!”
October 27th, 2022 at 8:30 PM ^
Erik All, kept going and going! Man, what a dramatic play!
October 28th, 2022 at 2:10 AM ^
"Will they catch him???....NOOOOOO!!!!"
October 27th, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Let's be honest they do that crap every year now regardless who the announcing crew is, but definitely could have done without it being the same as from that game.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
It will be fun watching Harbaugh run away from Molly McGrath again.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
IMO the biggest rivalry on the field is Molly McGrath v. Harbaugh
October 27th, 2022 at 9:04 PM ^
You'll never catch me running away from Molly. Or the All American girl.
October 28th, 2022 at 8:15 AM ^
LMAO!!! But what a dick he can be! Why does he hate those women so much???
October 27th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
Taps?
October 27th, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
Do we know if this is a 'blue out' or not? Seems like a lot of prominent people have been saying it, and Sainristil even did in a video the other day, but it was never officially announced
October 27th, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
It is not a school promoted blue-out.
It’s more of a grass roots effort by the students and others.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:35 PM ^
McDonough and Blackledge are one of my least favorite broadcast teams. They push whatever the narrative du jour is and neither of them provide much in the way of original thought or critique. They were on the Syracuse-Clemson game last week and it was awful.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:37 PM ^
Man, Michigan fans are puffing out our collective chests a lot right now... It happened not to long ago where they rose up and beat us...
It's been two weeks of it. I hope the team isn't reading the articles about how they'll dominate.
And yes. I am fun at parties
October 27th, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
I’ve been saying the same thing. And state and their fans have been so quiet. Something is off here..
October 27th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
I'm glad I'm not the only one who is terrified of this game.
It should be okay, but Sparty.
October 27th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
Every preview is a debate about if we'll win by 20 or 30.
This feels uncomfortable. Maybe the bye week is making it feel excessive.
All this noise about blue out, fly over, night game, etc ...
October 27th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
We’re never a very sharp team coming out of a bye. Combine that with the huge line and the horror shows that have happened with Sparty, especially at home, and there’s a lot to be nervous about. Joel Klatt and many others are confident we win. And yes we’re the better team. But weird shit happens in college football - as we’ve seen too many times.
October 27th, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
No joke. There should be a thread about why we might not win. Just to curtail all this ridiculous unbridled enthusiasm. Fucking Billy Mumphrey
October 27th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
I mean Harbaugh is 5-2 after a bye at UM and 4-1 at home with only loss the monsoon 14-10 UM-MSU game. What are you concluding our bye week struggles from?
October 27th, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
I’m terrified of this game. Which makes me easily irritated by all the confidence espoused by people like Brian, Seth, and Sam Webb who have all been so SO wrong in the recent past and seemingly learned nothing from it.
I want so badly for them to be right this time and M win fun and easy.
October 27th, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
The team is focused on this game. They aren't looking past it to another game. They want vengeance over last year. That loss didn't sit right with anyone, not even with the selection committee, who moved Michigan back up higher in the ranking after 2 weeks.
They are not going to lose.
October 28th, 2022 at 5:30 AM ^
I still have MGOBLOG podcast chuckles ringing in my ear of how bad State is or “its not going to be close”. That stuff stays with you.
October 27th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
This game has made me nervous for years.
If Michigan wins how everyone things they are going to, then I will be thinking why I was so nervous.
If Michigan State wins, I will laugh and think," of course they won." Check this website the next day, read the meltdown and think that Michigan fans just don't learn.
October 27th, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
SInce 1969, Ohio State has beaten us 28 times.
In that same time span, MSU has beaten us 19 times. No other UM opponent comes close.
That should be enough to make any Michigan fan skeptical of the notion of automatic victories over Sparty.
October 27th, 2022 at 9:31 PM ^
Not that anything anyone on this board thinks or says has any outcome on the game but the fact is that historically this game goes pretty much to plan when one team is clearly better than the other. When the teams are close - particularly recently - the edge has been to the Spartans due to their focus and hatred toward M. I doubt many feel that the teams are particularly close this year….and for the first time in forever it seems like M has emphasized this game since the loss in EL.
I remember seeing Spartan fans giddy with relevance at the news that Harbaugh actually talked about “plans to defend MSU” when he spoke to potential D-coordinators in the offseason. I doubt they will like the result - even if they hadn’t taken a step backwards this season.
You can debate the likelihood of a blowout or the chances of covering the (too large imo) spread, but the chances that MSU wins on Saturday are very low.
If you wish to express your concern that the all the bluster by M fans will make the next year nearly unbearable in the unlikely event of a MSU win… you have a point. May I suggest a move out of state in that case - I rarely see anything MSU related out in AZ.
October 28th, 2022 at 8:36 AM ^
Yeah and with those 28 defeats to OSU, most of UM's losses to OSU were against OSU teams that were evenly matched or better then UM. The only one of those 28 losses that immediately comes to mind where UM might have been quite a bit better than OSU is 2001, and even that might be debatable.
With the 19 losses to MSU, with the exception of the Hoke/RR years most of those losses are to MSU teams that weren't nearly as good as UM over the course of the season.
October 27th, 2022 at 10:25 PM ^
I've been conditioned to fear the worst. I keep thinking of the 2017 night game in Ann Arbor. So many mistakes, and an MSU DB giving one of our WRs the choke sign. I'm also afraid that we have no real backup QB, and it was in 1984, Harbaugh's sophomore year, when he broke his arm at home against MSU. Finally, the 2020 COVID game was won by Sparty because they had a WR we couldn't cover - and they have a couple of good ones on this team.
October 27th, 2022 at 10:36 PM ^
Yeah. Let us keep worrying about it as fans. Enjoy the moment. Fans or any media outlet is not changing the teams attitude. There are only so many games and worrying about every game is not fun.
October 28th, 2022 at 12:41 AM ^
No, you’re really not fun
October 27th, 2022 at 9:22 PM ^
I do like McDonough and Blackledge, however I was really hoping for Tessitore
He's the best college PBP guy going now and McElroy is fine.
October 27th, 2022 at 9:28 PM ^
Ugh....I don't want to hear McDonough describe...that play in great detail.
If you're a paranoid kind of fan like me who remembers too much history, you think about us being a big favorite (2020) the last night game against Sparty (2017) and McDonough calling the game (2015.)
Can Michigan PLEASE win this game 70-0??? It won't destroy all the demons but it will get rid of some of them.
October 28th, 2022 at 6:28 AM ^
I will miss Jenny Taft. She is the best part of the Fox crew by far.
October 28th, 2022 at 8:58 AM ^
Selfishly...with a newborn, one of my primetime naps is 8pm-11pm so a 7:44 kickoff feels like pulling an all nighter lmao!
Can't wait...go blue!
October 28th, 2022 at 10:53 AM ^
I'm listening to the Carl Grapentine broadcast.
Would rather see them play at 7:44 a.m. than 7:44 p.m.
