Columbus riots after spring game?!
Subject says it all. We've had a lot of buckeye fans crashing the board lately...
Why?
Why do this?
Over a spring game!

And DeWine will blame this small subset of society as a super-spreader (without any evidence thereof) and lock us down again while continuing to rake in the $$$ with all his Big Pharma investments he claims he doesn't know anything about.

Not a DeWine fan...but we haven't really been locked down since like last October or before. Your post is garbage.
LOL ok. Explain that to all the schools forced to remote yet again because of DeWine's arbitrary and ever-changing guide to locking down our schools. Oh, and ignoring the CDC because "follow the Science" except when they don't want to.
Your response is garbage.
Oooo, oooo, aaaaaa, aaaaa, grunt. Tear. Gov’ment. Aaaaa.
Not sure where you live in Ohio but the restrictions are here for your perusal:
https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/resources/public-h…
I mean...go see your parents in a nursing home...oh wait. You probably can't.
You seem hilariously unconcerned about the loss of your freedom.
Loss of freedom? What are you talking about? I'm an 8th grade teacher, living in Franklin Country which is at a level 4 right now, and I am in my classroom...there is no shut down. People are doing whatever they want like fools. It must be so hard to be COVID oppressed like you.
im having a beer in a bar in columbus as we speak....other than having to walk in in a mask, there is nothing locked down here. kids are in school every day. college kids are on campus for labs and small sections. hell, even the buffets that survived are open again
And you seem hilariously unconcerned about the $5 you will spend for murderwolflives3.
I'm in Cincinnati and things are pretty chill here. Schoolkids in school, restaurants and bars open, vaccines available to all +16 residents much quicker here than my home state Wisconsin with a Democratic governor. Not sure about nursing homes, but otherwise I don't see a big problem.
You and Jim Jordan may be the only Ohioans who are outraged.
I took my family to Great Wolf Lodge in Cincinnati last month and the place was packed. I know people who couldn't even go to Kalahari because it was sold out. Folks seemed pretty free from what I could see.
My son's at college in Ohio and he was free to get a vaccine and free to go to class and free to play his sport so thanks, Governor DeWine, for whatever it is you're doing.
our governor is the crazy one, she looks at other governors and tries to do worse for her subjects.
they are all part of the ruling elite who pretend to give a crap about all of us while hey rake in their millions in graft and corruption.
really is disgusting, the louder they say they are doing it all for our safety the bigger the heaping pile of cow manure they are heaping on us.
Oh FFS.
Question: "Why? Why do this?"
Answer: Alcohol.
Exactly. When I lived in Madison in the nineties and the aughts, we had multiple riots that evolved out of block parties or the annual Halloween celebration. Several of the UW system campuses did as well; UW-Oshkosh had one that developed out of a protest over the raising of the drinking age.

Walmart ran out of coolers.

"no arrests were made."
Well, at least they treat the general student population like the football team.
April 19th, 2021 at 11:38 AM ^
This should be in the running for comment of the year (or at least day).
April 19th, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
I'll piggy-back on that.
April 19th, 2021 at 10:40 AM ^
It obviously wasn't over a spring game. "Rave" is an interesting euphemism for an event with non-trivial property damage and police helicopters, though.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Yeah my wife and multiple of my friends went to OSU. This was during "Chitt Fest," which is basically a block party on the street that happens every year. Had nothing to do with the football game.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
Damn, Cedar Fest crowds at staee really need to up their game as just a few couches on fire will not do!

Students gathered on Chittenden Avenue between High and Summit Streets following the Spring Game Saturday. The area, where many students live off campus, is known for its annual spring “Chitt Fest” and fall “Chitt Show” block parties.
Is this where they got the idea to Chitten their coolers?
April 19th, 2021 at 10:59 AM ^
This wins the internet today.
April 19th, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
No coolers, not a real game, no visitors to fight. The students lost their Chitt.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
Columbus resident here - I've heard thirdhand that Chittenden is named because it sounds like the rat-a-tat of gunfire. Which probably isn't true, but speaks to how trashy that area has historically been.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:36 PM ^
This is where they serve their famous Chitt Sandwich? Like Philly has a cheesesteak
April 19th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
It's good to know that college students are above the law, said this old military policeman.
April 19th, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
My favorite thing about this was how my local news channel was reporting about this and said that this happened over a “football victory.” It’s the spring game. Where they play themselves. They win either way.
April 19th, 2021 at 11:47 AM ^
Talking buckeye fans! You missed the obvious word between "play" and "themselves"!
April 19th, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
Don't give a sh*t. Beat them on the field once, maybe.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Excuse me but last I checked, Michigan is on something like a 12 decade winning streak against the buckeyes, wherein there is at least one victory. Sounds like success to me...
/s (just in case)
April 19th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
seems like some spontaneous orgy of civil disobedience that coincided with the spring game and people missing normality and going out to do something. With all mass groups, things went off the rails.
People en masse are stupid...
Not surprised, and has nothing to do with people in Ohio.
April 19th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
An unruly crowd during a pandemic that refused to disperse after repeated police requests? Sounded like great time to bring out the tear gas.
April 19th, 2021 at 10:59 AM ^
Why waste tear gas when you could just open every cooler in the vicinity?
The request to disperse:

White riots. Always so much more acceptable to cops.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:37 PM ^
It's always White Boy Summer in Columbus.
....or in the nation's capital.
/too soon?
what is "white boy summer"?
April 19th, 2021 at 11:05 AM ^
There was a shooting in one of the hospitals recently. A man who had an arrest warrant out was taken in unresponsive to this hospital. He woke up, pulled a gun and fired a shot. Since there's was a warrant, there were two police there. They both shot him and when he fired again they emptied their clips into him, apparently. He died. People broke into the main PD downtown.
April 19th, 2021 at 11:17 AM ^
So they don't check dudes with arrest warrants for weapons??? Seems like, that should be normal protocol...
April 19th, 2021 at 11:26 AM ^
Yeah, like. . . what was he packing and where was he packing it? Inquiring minds want to know.
April 19th, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
Also, this seems like a total non-sequitur. I don't really follow how it is related to the riots? Or is it just something else crazy that happened in Columbus?
Westerville, northern suburb of Columbus.
