Rumor reported on 97.1

I obviously am not tuned into UM football as the rest of you guys, but are any of those captains really a surprise? I feel like those are names I would expect to see as captains.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
i'm just here for the connor cook joke
September 16th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
Opting in, so they want to beat us one more time I guess.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:34 PM ^
Or maybe so they can stay on OSU's payroll
September 16th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
Beat us by 100 - fixed it for you
September 16th, 2020 at 11:16 PM ^
As long as we have Don Brown, they have a chance!
September 16th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
If it means Kwity plays, that would be good news.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Every OSU player will play. Families are relying on that income.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:39 PM ^
Papa Wade is doing that happy dance today.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:52 PM ^
More like jiggle than dance.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:39 PM ^
They just said Nick Eubanks and Ben Mason on offense.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:40 PM ^
Would be history there, Michigan has never had more than 4 team captains.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
You couldn't sum up 2020 any better than telling me that OSU's 1st round picks would opt in while our players who don't have that high of a draft grade aside from Nico leave early. Albeit, health issues are in play for Ambry, but still....
September 16th, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
It's much easier to come back when you've got some guaranteed money waiting for you.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:59 PM ^
With Fields and a 10 deep OL they have a shot @ a national championship. Everyone on that team is still steaming from not getting it done against Clemson last year. Their QB is more hype than talent.he still makes freshman mistakes. This roster may be their best ever.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:30 PM ^
Their QB is more hype than talent.he still makes freshman mistakes.
Lol! He completed 67% of his pass attempts for 3300 yards, 41 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions but, sure, he's "more hype than talent."
September 16th, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
I guess I see 3 “freshman mistakes” in those stats, if I’m reading between the lines?
September 16th, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
I feel like every year now the OSU roster is their "best ever".
September 16th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
So...Even though 2020 is bizarro world, we still can't have nice things for 24 freaking hours!
September 16th, 2020 at 1:51 PM ^
OSU is going to kill us.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:08 PM ^
No Mercy
September 16th, 2020 at 2:12 PM ^
Yeah, I'm going to assume this until I see a team that simply refuses to get embarrassed.
Devin Gardner led a team that should have been beaten by 60 points, and he ended up scoring 41 points on a broken foot behind the worst offensive line I have ever seen.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
Yep, even before guys were opting out, I count it as a loss UFN. They just want it more.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:43 PM ^
So ... if Michigan loses it's because the players are OK getting embarrassed? I'm trying to follow your reasoning.
Here's something you might want to consider: During the Hoke and Rodriguez era the yearly random OSU letdown / flake-out week (secondary to a large perceived gap between OSU and its opponent) was a little more likely with Michigan teams than it has been during the Harbaugh years. I'm *not* excusing the losses ... just suggesting that there are multiple reasons.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:20 PM ^
If Michigan loses? The last 2 years they've gotten destroyed in laughable fashion.
So yes, in my opinion, when you get bent over like that, you would think they would spend every single day after that game vowing never to let that happen again.
Then they let the exact same thing happen the following year on their own field? I would call that being ok with it. Reach down deep, find something, beat your man.
September 16th, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
You keep on running into that stone wall, hoss.
I'll allow for the possibility that there are psychological factors at work, but I think that OSU has better players across-the-board. Do you think Ann Arbor Huron could beat EMU in football if they just tried harder?
September 17th, 2020 at 5:15 AM ^
Did OSU not have better players in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014?
Also you're comparing a high school and lower Division 1 football program to us and OSU?
September 17th, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
I'm saying a team with the talent Michigan has should beat another college football team more than 1 time in 16 FUCKING years. Especially when that team is your biggest rival. I don't want to hear we get their best shot every year horseshit. They should be getting our best shot every year too. We obviously don't care as much as they do, and it shows. We are not a high school team playing a college team. The NFL is peppered with players from this program
Auburn figures out how to beat Alabama every now and then. Is that really too much to ask? Expectations aren't high, how about to start you just don't get fisted for 4 quarters?
Just my opinion, you should be able to not give up 60 pts strictly with pride.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:10 PM ^
41 points AND had a shot at a 2-point conversion to come away with the win!
September 16th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
First off Devin Gardner was the man. If he played for Harbaugh I firmly believe we would have beaten OSU.
I don't think OSU never took Hoke and RichRod seriously. (Yes, I remember technically Hoke beat OSU). Nor Harbaugh in the beginning. Until we started steamrolling everyone on the way to the 62-39 embarrassment. We never got their best game until that game.
I mean, there were several games with Hoke and RichRod where OSU could have named the score. It was never in doubt, and you could see it on their faces.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:54 PM ^
Oh Nico, Nico-o-o, Because Nico, the man is gone!
Can we confirm this?
September 16th, 2020 at 7:59 PM ^
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja, the man is dead, the man is dead.
September 16th, 2020 at 1:55 PM ^
Karsh is the only reliable inside source at 97.1 to anything Michigan football related. Unless he says it, I don't buy it. Valenti and his gaggle of jagaloons have one thing on their mind - ignite the bruhs, facts be damned.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:03 PM ^
Today's word is "Jagaloons," brought to you by "readyourguard."
September 16th, 2020 at 2:27 PM ^
It’s a perfectly cromulent word.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
Karsh said it. Nico has an agent.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:46 PM ^
Valenti definitely doesn’t personal hygiene
September 16th, 2020 at 2:01 PM ^
Of course Davis and Wade are opting in. Say what you will about Ohio State, they do foster a culture of staying with the team. For whatever reason that has eluded Michigan for a long time, and no a famous speech by Bo doesn't count as counter-evidence to this.
I am not passing judgment on anyone choosing to sit out for any reason, I don't care, nor do I think it reflects anything negative about the player himself as I think everyone makes the best decision for him or herself at the end of the day according to available information. I am just saying it would be nice if the coaches to could figure out the secret to the culture Ohio State has and bring a little bit of that to Michigan in terms of getting players to buy in a little bit.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
It’s called insurance.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:33 PM ^
Dude, it's called "Monthly Payments".
You think either of those guys want to pay back the pro-rated signing bonus on that deal?
September 16th, 2020 at 2:30 PM ^
Ohio State perennially has a boatload of early entries (more than most) so it’s not about staying. It’s that it’s going to be a high-powered team where they can get eight more games of good tape before the draft.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:34 PM ^
They have guys leave early all the time. They probably see this season as a cakewalk and another shot at a CFP title.
Maybe if our guys thought a CFP run was realistic, they would come back.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:47 PM ^
This. OSU is playing for a “Natty.” Beating UofM is a foregone conclusion for those guys.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:45 PM ^
This is all conjecture.
The only fact is that Gene Smith said that Wyatt Davis called him.
If you want true conjecture, why would Davis call Gene Smith and not his positional coach or Ryan Day?
To me, the only reason would be eligibility question which is either due to him taking money from an agent or by dropping from all enrolled classes.
September 16th, 2020 at 2:58 PM ^
Nick Bosa disagrees with you
September 16th, 2020 at 3:41 PM ^
I'm sure part of the secret is having something to play for. I'm sure Buckeye players are aware that they have an extremely high chance at a conference championship, trip to the playoffs, and a good shot at a national title every year.
Michigan's players are playing for what? Maybe an NY6 appearance, which is nothing more than a more glorified version of the rest of consolation bowls so of course Michigan's players are going to be more inclined to come to the conclusion that it's not worth playing.
September 16th, 2020 at 3:45 PM ^
They have a legitimate chance at National championship, Michigan players don't really have that opportunity.
September 16th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
What makes the Buckeyes elite in recruiting is of course the coaches and the players sent to the NFL . But a big thing is the players recruit other players to come to school here .
September 16th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
They want a shot at the Championship. They have a legit shot and I respect their kids for wanting to go for it. I would expect the exact same from M if they were in that situation.
If they lose a game or two = as soon as they are out of contention, you will see everyone draft-eligible on the team going the Bosa route and opting out to rehab for the draft.
September 16th, 2020 at 5:51 PM ^
Hire Urban Meyer?
