Yeah, that is a great read,…

Yeah, that is a great read, but I was halfway through when I realized it sounded really familiar. Worth reading twice, but I was excited for a minute to hear his thoughts on being back with the Wolverines.

Jahmyr has crazy elusiveness…

Jahmyr has crazy elusiveness - can deliver when there is very little space. Haven't really seen that from Donovan - I love him but he's more of of a straight ahead speed guy to me.

Great victory, great season,…

Great victory, great season, and great writeup!  My lucky shirt had little TCU smudge on it yesterday, but today I noticed that it somehow vanished - my shirt is pure again!

I believe this blog came up…

I believe this blog came up on an Ask Jeeves search for Michigan football content.

When I was waiting for the…

Ooops, first DP ever.

When I was waiting for the…

When I was waiting for the men’s room at halftime of the Rose Bowl, Lee Corso and his “assistant” cut through the line in front of me. His aide/nurse held his arm as they went, supporting and guiding him. Corso looked at least 105 years old.

Downtown it was definitely…

Downtown it was definitely more Maize and Blue, but today at the Rose Bowl Bash outside the stadium they showed up in droves. Seemed like more them than us, although many were surprisingly friendly and good natured in all the back and forth chanting.

Eastern Michigan vs Southern…

Eastern Michigan vs Southern Alabama should give us some useful Rose Bowl insights into how these states match up overall.

My wife was lukewarm about…

My wife was lukewarm about UM football, until she, almost literally, fell in love with Denard and his smile. Since then she's all in -  we've gotten season tickets and she yells louder than I do. I love you too, Denard!

He's gonna rea lize this was…

He's gonna rea lize this was a big mistake.

My wife made me change the channel as she refuses to look at Condon’s haircut any longer. Let me know what happens.

Need Connor Stallions to plug in his flash drive and get this over with!

No NIL connection that I…

No NIL connection that I know of, but there's always Haze and Blue IPA from Big Lake Brewing in Holland. It's in a lot of stores, at least in W MI.

The booing of Pettiti was…

The booing of Pettiti was really loud in the stadium. Did it come through on TV?

There’s a regular tailgater…

There’s a regular tailgater here at the pediatric dentist lot on south Main selling 3 for face value. Look for the tan creeper van covered with UM stickers. Seriously.

I think 1000 is reasonable…

I think 1000 is reasonable for those of us that are on here constantly, but save our brilliant insights for occasional posts or comments. I’m closing in on 14 years - with 1200 or so points - so would hate to be shut out.

I thought the snowflake…

I thought the snowflake posts were just for people to post on, not actually read.

As a side note, I talked to…

As a side note, I talked to my neighbor whose son is a PWO at MSU. He said the AD had a virtual meeting with all of the parents after this leaked out. The parents asked many questions, but according to this parent, the AD pretty much shut down every question - with the usual "we can't comment about an ongoing investigation" stuff. This parent, and many others, were not pleased at all (although he said this termination will turn out to be a blessing).

That still was the final…

That still was the final straw for me. I'm old enough to be a bit slow on the change, but YouTube TV here I come.

I hate to complain, too, but it sounded like someone was fiddling with some bamboo wind chimes on the offensive preview.

I hate when that happens.

I hate when that happens.

Makes sense. I have a friend…

Makes sense. I have a friend who lives near Cal and routinely heads over with a $15 ticket to pass the time on Saturdays.

I agree, but I think Edwards…

I agree, but I think Edwards seeing himself on all these second team lists is going to righteously piss him off and make him even more of a monster on the field. Could work out okay.

Back then, newsreels were…

Back then, newsreels were commonly shown in movie theaters before the feature film. I am quite sure this would have been shown in Detroit theaters for moviegoers to get some Wolverine hype.

I saw a news reporter this…

I saw a news reporter this morning, who had previously taken the same submarine down, say that the way that things cut off so suddenly made it more likely that there was a sudden depressurization. Horrible either way - I guess we'll find out before long.

Pretty sure they changed…

Pretty sure they changed their name to Goodman University.

Went to the away game at…

Went to the away game at Kinnick last year. They only sold low alcohol tall beers. Not easy to get drunk that way if you wanted to. There was not any noticeable difference in intoxication levels from the Big House - probably less. There was a lot of whining and grumbling from the Hawkeye fans though.

I did this a couple of years…

I did this a couple of years as a college student in W Michigan, late 70's. We hammered together rafts that would hold chairs and a nice keg of Cinci, and off we went. It was hundreds of drunken fools floating along - enjoying watching other people's rafts fall apart and people swimming after their kegs - until their own did. It is mind-blowing to think of he liability. Not sure if there were ever any fatalities, but if not it was a miracle.

It is a successful West MI…

It is a successful West MI D2 program. It was not a full scholarship. I believe due to limitations in D2, many of the scholarships are less than full.

Interesting, because BGSUs…

Interesting, because BGSUs coach just took the head job at MSU.

We’ll drive our 2.5 hours,…

We’ll drive our 2.5 hours, tie down the tent, and tailgate like it’s a real game. Then watch and cheer, rain or shine, just like a real game. Who could get enough of the Wolverines?

In addition to being a basketball historian, Claude has done a few other things in life:

Claude Johnson is a historian and founder of the Black Fives Foundation. He has a BS in civil engineering and economics from Carnegie Mellon and an MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford. During a 20-year career in corporate America, Johnson held management and executive positions at IBM, American Express, NBA Properties, Nike, Phat Farm, and Benetton Sportsystem. He left to become a stay-at-home dad to his three sons, two of whom are now Division I college football players (the third is a Division I high school basketball recruit). He lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.

For those that did not go down the echidna cooling-off methods rabbit hole, you also might be interested in this fun fact from Wikipedia:

We’ll be there! First time! Anyone have advice on parking? I can see there are lots of public lots, but we can’t get there real early. I can see booking spots ahead of time is available.

We missed out last year, so made sure we are in this time! Easily booked a Holiday Inn Express in Kokomo - an hour in the right direction for West Michiganders.

Don't forget West Ottawa's…

Don't forget West Ottawa's own Rob Renes. State champ in wrestling and powerlifting. 11 varsity letters in 4 sports - football, wrestling, baseball, and track. Used to leave the dugout to shot put, then run back to the dugout. Was on the UM '97 Championship team, but a back injury snuffed out his NFL career during rookie camp.

Phew - I thought you meant the entire offence was out!

I live in Holland, not far…

I live in Holland, not far from the big lake. Govt agencies and news outlets have been more vocal than ever, and are constantly talking about rip currents and respecting red flags, but it all seems to no avail. I’m not sure what it will take to change this. I cringe every time I hear sirens heading out toward the beach. Very sad.

You are definitely right,…

You are definitely right, and the StubHub prices sure show it!  We are headed for our first @Iowa game and paid through the nose (section 102). Recently visited Iowa City for the first time, as my UM '21 son just moved there for an engineering job. Excited to see Iowa city on a game day, and see UM put up another 42 on Ferentz! By the way, does anyone have info on where tailgating (especially away team/UM) tends to happen there?

Perfect timing for me, in…

Perfect timing for me, in thinking about life outside our solar system. I just finished the last book in the epic Three-Body Problem trilogy by Cixen Liu. Beyond the phenomenal exptrapolation of science and physics, it takes a deep dive into the psychology and politics of how alien species might percieve and react to each other.

According to Michigan…

According to Michigan Insider, Cole Cabana is expecting fireworks soon! It might be a thrilling committment haul, or excitement over the 4th of July. Pay to find out.

Can we just see the fighter…

Can we just see the fighter planes, or do we have to look at Ton Cruise too?

While I was at the game, I…

While I was at the game, I had the DVR running as usual. It is great for entertainment any time, but even a partial viewing can be a very good pick-me-up when needed. No shame in savoring major sports high points indefinitely.

I feel your pain. As a kid I…

I feel your pain. As a kid I collected an entire legal box (the hard way, one pack at a time plus trading with friends), with special emphasis on finding every Tiger possible. In high school our basement flooded, turning the entire collection into a giant paper mache ball. I'm still not over it.
