2020 Depth Chart attempt
Can use some help on the backup OL spots, D-Line and linebacker spots as well
Only people assured of leaving have been removed.
Some players listed at more than one spot.
Currently 89 scholarship players per my count
Designate the likely walk-ons with * since some get 1-year scholarships sometimes

Edit...except add Nico Collins back and keep the fingers crossed. Also have seen some say Stueber moves to RG so Hayes can play LT and Mayfield stays at RT. But with Spanellis and Filiaga...who knows.

Perhaps
December 26th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
It sounds like Carlo Kemp is slated to return but we'll see I guess
December 26th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
I didn't know if he had eligibility - would love to be able to add that name back in
December 26th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
He has a potential medical redshirt for 2016, if an injury can be proven. Nothing has been announced officially either way though, so no reason he should be removed.

How is moody going to be a sophomore? This was his second year kicking
December 26th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
These are the correct classes for a few guys based on a quick skim.
Moody - Jr
Hawkins - Sr
Barrett - RS So
Schoonmaker - RS So
C.Turner - RS So

updating on my document

Given the board's limitations (specifically, you can't edit an OP) I wonder if this would work better if you put the substance into the first comment.
Also, Tru Wilson played in 1 game as a freshman so he is out of eligibility.
December 26th, 2019 at 8:39 PM ^
next time I plan to - thanks
December 26th, 2019 at 3:03 PM ^
Only thing I'm not sure about is Hayes at LT over Stueber. And that's only because of how close Stueber was with Mayfield this year before getting hurt. I'd have to imagine he would get the nod, but it's a good problem to have.
December 26th, 2019 at 4:10 PM ^
I think Steuber is a RT or guard. The other 2 guys seem more like LT types to me.
December 26th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
If the best five play I could see Stueber at guard. Also Barnhart was the only Frosh OL to see the field I believe.
I really hope Kemp comes back. He was kind of an iron man in a tough spot. We need Mazi to step up and take half those snaps. If Jeter is ahead of Mazi we are going to have some tough days.
December 26th, 2019 at 9:02 PM ^
Yeah, Barnhart was the only freshman OL to see action and he played RT. Hard to see him as a 4th string guard.
No way Jeter starts based on what happened this season. If Kemp doesn't return, I expect to see Hinton and Dwumfour start, even if neither is a NT. Kemp's not really a NT either.

Chris Evans will not be 5th on the depth chart.
I believe G. Johnson has moved to CB.
Also, imo, do not see Jeter starting.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
It is impossible to speculate about Evans. He has been out of the lineup for a year already and who knows if he will still have the coaches favor when he returns. (And was frankly not that impactful, as least thus far). Our running back room is the most secure room on the team and both Jackson and Sanistril look to be every bit of Chris Evans as a slot-type substance.
He may play all the time. He may not play at all. No way to know on that.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
No I’m fairly confident Evans will not be 5th on the depth chart.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
Based on what? I could see him ahead of Tru on that list (didn't think he'd even be back) but I doubt be goes ahead of anyone else.
December 26th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Based on his talent. Based on his ability for big chunk yardage.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
I appreciate your work on this! A few things:
1. Michael Barrett will be a RS So, and likely the primary viper. Anthony Solomon has seen very few viper snaps.
2. I think it’s unlikely that McGregor, coming off a major injury, slides in front of Upshaw, who did reasonably well with his garbage time snaps.
3. I’d consider switching Hinton and Jeter. Jeter disappeared after the Wisconsin game, and had a disappointing season as far as production and utility go. Hinton, of whom I’m a big fan, did well with his limited snaps and played his way meaningfully into the rotation by season’s end.
4. I think Steuber is more likely to take the LT spot than Hayes.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
Kent is not listed on the roster per MGoBlue.
December 26th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
Didn’t he retire medically? Or is he back like Benjamin St. Juste?
December 26th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
Kent medically retired due to a heart condition.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
If you're right about only one thing with this post I sincerely hope it is the outside wide receivers, with DPJ and Nico returning.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
So is this post assuming Nico and DPJ both return but Tarik Black goes pro? Or did something happen with Black I haven't heard about? He seemed like the most likely of those 3 to return.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:39 PM ^
He's in the transfer portal
December 26th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^
Got it, I hadn't heard that. Bummer.
December 26th, 2019 at 8:14 PM ^
Transfer protocol.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:39 PM ^
Black is officially in the transfer portal
only those officially gone have been removed
December 26th, 2019 at 3:43 PM ^
Tarik is "in the portal" .

Black is transferring
December 26th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
I don’t see Nick returning but that would be huge if he did. I do think there’s a possibility for DPJ to come back. Healing with Bell would be nice pieces.
If you’re right there would be lots of players on offense with experience in the program. Maybe it translates this coming year. I do think if we get past Washington we could have a very good year heading into Columbus and then we’ll have to figure out how to not shoot ourselves in the foot.
December 26th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
I think I essentially agree with what you said but it looks like autocorrect did a number on your post.
You meant "Nico'', right?
And "healing with Bell" ?
December 26th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
I expect Bell to mostly play on the outside, especially if Nico or DPJ leave. Giles Jackson and Sainritsil stepped up late. They should be a good 1-2 punch in the slot.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:40 PM ^
OL - I believe latest reps had Honigford at T, Rumler at G and Stewart at C. It can certainly all change.
DL - I expect Hinton to start, Smith or Kemp or some move will push Jeter to 2nd or 3rd, Ojabo/Morris/ Welschof to spend time at 3 tech and doubt Jenkins sees the field as true frosh (needs S&C&N for 20+ lbs.
December 26th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
Smith needs another year to develop but will obviously see playing time.
Evans will start at RB and Corum will back him up by the end of the year. ZC will move to FB.
CB is a disaster.
December 26th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
Glad that you're only joking with this post. I was about to ask you what you've been smoking.
December 26th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^

December 26th, 2019 at 3:50 PM ^
What is this “Depth Chart” that you speak of?
December 26th, 2019 at 4:06 PM ^
A "Depth Chart" is what happens when you take a Swim Lanes post from the past and lob a depth charge at it. Thanks Putin!
Or maybe that's how spaghetti is made, I forget.
December 26th, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
RB - I think everyone just likes talking about the shiny new toys but Chris Evans we be in the top 3 backs. I know it’s been awhile but getting him back is a major plus to already strong group. Other notes I’m pretty sure Tru Wilson is done, and I hope i’m wrong but Christian Turner may be a transfer portal candidate. Love his game, but the fumbles cost him his spot and now he’s got an uphill climb to get it back. Whoever the 3-4 guys are who get carries we should feel really good about next year.
WR - Kent is gone I believe, rumor is George Johnson to CB
TE - wouldn’t be surprise if we add one more but if we don’t i think you’re right about Hibner not getting a redshirt.
T - Hayes/Stueber
DT - Kemp should be back. Might as well just list Aaron Lewis over here because he’s coming eventually.
Viper - Barrett the starter
If Dylan is the real deal the offense should be really good. I’m excited to see some new faces on defense.
December 26th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
Pretty good overall. I agree with others on Hinton over Jeter at NT . I think Hayes is right at LT. Wasn’t as ready to go but more LT-like than other tackles.
Don’t see a Seldon redshirt. I think he’ll move up the depth chart and push for 3rd cb later in the year.
I’d bump Evans up. No way to put a true far ahead of him, even a good one. I’d go as far as 2b with Charbonnet behind Haskins
December 26th, 2019 at 4:47 PM ^
I wonder if they start Dax Hill at Corner and open competition at a safety spot. There are a lot of young guys at that position.
December 26th, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
Seldon won't redshirt, height be damned! He's too good and we're too thin at CB.
December 26th, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
Others have already pointed out some of your typos on class standing so I'll skip those.
No inside info but if I had to bet I think Stuber plays G next year to get best 5 on the field. It was mentioned in fall camp he was first backup for basically every spot on the line except C. Hayes got some PT throughout the year and probably isn't the best suited to play G with his frame.
I know a lot including Brian are penciling in Spanellis as a starter but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the younger guys pulled ahead of him at G. I think his only starting spot is at C assuming Ruiz declares.
Mike is probably McGrone and ...Thomas as backup? Probably at the start the season anyways.
Will is probably Ross and Gil as backup (again at the start of the season).
Assuming DT as a whole improves next year, which I think it will assuming Kemp comes back, we might not have as much SAM usage next year with Uche gone and no obvious direct replacement - at least one that will be ready to go next year. If I had to guess we see more base 4-2-5 next year... again, assuming we have 4 functional DT's on the roster. Speaking of NT I would put Jess Speight over Paea and Myers (Does Myers have more eligibility?) based on the playing (garbage) time last year.
That CB list does not give me warm fuzzies. The 5 DB class of 2018 has not produced much.
