it was a nonsense tweet from some Barstool mouth breather
October 8th, 2018 at 8:05 PM ^
Is there any other kind of person that represents Barstool?
October 8th, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
What is with the barstool hate around here ? The owner is a big Michigan guy.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:42 PM ^
Barstool is a complete and utter cesspool. morally reprehensible, run by a sexist, bullying piece of crap. The journalistic equivalent of a drunken MSU frat bro
October 8th, 2018 at 11:01 PM ^
Is there some other kind of MSU frat bro?
October 9th, 2018 at 8:43 AM ^
A hungover MSU frat bro?
October 9th, 2018 at 11:45 AM ^
Well I don't condone bullying....
October 8th, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
Don’t try. They absolutely detest everything Barstool and Portnoy here.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
“They”? How do you feel about it?
October 8th, 2018 at 11:16 PM ^
I'd love to hear what is so compelling about the site.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:47 PM ^
And a serial harasser and not good guy?
October 8th, 2018 at 10:09 PM ^
the owner is a piece of shit
October 8th, 2018 at 11:14 PM ^
So was Ted Kaczynski, doesn't mean people gotta love him.
Barstool is the abject worst "mainstream" sports site around, and just because a bunch of people find casual misogyny, racism, LGBTQ-bashing, antisemitism, etc. funny doesn't make it good.
October 9th, 2018 at 3:23 AM ^
Brian hates him because he's more successful than Brian. The readership here doesn't think for themselves so they just go along with it.
Also, most of the readers who would support barstool have either been banned or left on their accord because they got sick of Brian's constant bitching.
October 9th, 2018 at 5:46 AM ^
Ha. Do you really think Brian and many people around here don’t like Portnoy because he’s successful? Really?
Hes a gigantic douche who’s an embarrassment to the university he graduated from.
October 9th, 2018 at 6:41 AM ^
Ah, yes. I forgot that the “stoolies” are paragons of independent thought.
October 9th, 2018 at 7:27 AM ^
or left on their accord because they got sick of Brian's constant bitching.
Feel free to follow their example.
October 9th, 2018 at 11:25 AM ^
Because PMT is the only good thing they produce?
October 9th, 2018 at 11:47 AM ^
I do understand many people like it, but after almost an hour listening I couldn't stand it. I found it terribly boring.
October 9th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
No thank you
October 8th, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
If rumor holds:
This is ... a new ND trend? Very strange.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
I will grudgingly say that ND's trend is that they actually discipline players for things. Not infrequent are academic suspensions and other pieces of discipline. I suspect they actually try to have some integrity, unlike some other programs that one finds at the top of the polls.
October 9th, 2018 at 10:25 AM ^
I agree 100 % as long as we can throw in the "no discipline for coaches murdering video guys with negligence" caveat.
October 9th, 2018 at 5:31 PM ^
The obvious counter to that is Lou Holtz. Just Lou Holtz.
October 8th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
Hope so. Unlike an injury, I never have qualms with rooting for a team to be down a player due to knuckleheadedness.
October 8th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
As long as M has one loss I want ND to win. If Michigan drop a second then ND can/should suspend them all.
October 8th, 2018 at 8:59 PM ^
Don't think it matters. If they keep winning they are taking a playoff spot anyway.
October 8th, 2018 at 8:59 PM ^
But Michigan still needs ND to lose, because if ND goes unbeaten they’re getting into the playoff. The Big10 champion hasn’t gotten in the last 2 years. Even if Michigan wins out and wins the Big10 there’s no guarantee they’ll get in. There’s a chance the SEC gets two teams again.. Clemson has a chance to get in again.. we need ND to do good, just not too good. 10-2 for the Irish would be great for us.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:04 PM ^
The reason the Big Ten champ didn't get in the last two years was because it had 2 losses each time. (A Big Ten team did make it two years ago, just not the champ.)
Get through the season 12-1 and you're in. If you're 11-2 you won't make it. That's really all it comes down to. No 2-loss team will get in a four-team playoff.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
A 2 loss team is going to make it in eventually. No doubt about it.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:48 PM ^
Yeah this is an inevitability and not one that's hard to see. It happened with selecting a two team field in the relatively brief BCS era.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
Only if there are not enough one-loss Power 5 teams to fill the four spots. So far 16 out of 16 teams (2014-17) have had zero or one loss.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:16 PM ^
I agree but also no doubt that Michigan gets in at 11-1 with the only loss being on the road at a rival's in week one.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:22 PM ^
A 2 loss team will make it if your name is Alabama.
October 9th, 2018 at 1:03 AM ^
What if my name is Alabama, but the two loss team is Clemson?
October 8th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
If Michigan wins out they're in, no matter what ND does.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:21 PM ^
Exactly right. They'll probably be the #2 or #3 team at that time. You don't beat that team on their home field and and only lose one other game to another top 5 undefeated team on their home field by one score and not get in. I'd pay good money to see this team against a Clemson or ND on a neutral field . Michigan would handle both of those teams. I guaran-fucking-tee it. The only team Michigan could play it's best game and still lose would be Alabama. I have that much confidence in this team.
October 9th, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
Right. Bring on Alabama.
October 10th, 2018 at 8:30 AM ^
Pump the brakes bro.....
October 8th, 2018 at 9:47 PM ^
I like Michigan's chances if they're 12-1 with a loss to 12-0 ND. 10-2 ND could be ideal but I don't see them losing two. If they lose one they have a strong argument to be in over Michigan. If they fall apart, it hurts Michigan in comparison to other one loss teams.
Something like Bama/Clemson/ND/M would happen over Bama/Clemson/ND/UGA with a loss much later and equal or worse than Michigan's.
WVU is going to lose and Michigan would have a better loss and better wins than the Big 12 winner. Maybe Washington could go in #4 there but I doubt it. UCF isn't getting in unless the competition has two losses.
Obviously all academic if M doesn't win out.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
If you're holding out hope that we go 12-1 and hoping to make the playoffs you would rather ND not be 12-0 because they would for sure take one of our potential spots.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Exactly. There's a really good chance Michigan will get in with only 1 loss, but ND is 100% getting in if they go undefeated. A loss to an undefeated ND versus a loss to 2-loss ND really doesn't change things for Michigan's resume.
October 8th, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
It sure does change things, your one loss vs a top 3-4 team on the road at night, vs a 2 loss team.
Also you assume that if ND gets in Michigan does not. That's silly.
I hope ND makes the playoffs so we can have a new trivia question: In what year did Michigan play and beat ND twice?
October 9th, 2018 at 6:24 AM ^
How would we have beaten them twice?
October 9th, 2018 at 8:51 AM ^
Calendar year.
October 9th, 2018 at 10:04 AM ^
Post from your real account, mike.
October 8th, 2018 at 9:29 PM ^
If Michigan doesn't go 12-1 would they deserve a spot in the final 4?
October 8th, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
If Michigan goes 11-2 with a loss to Wisconsin and a rematch victory in the big ten championship I'd argue that's a playoff caliber team
October 8th, 2018 at 10:13 PM ^
The committee will argue against you. 2 losses--out.
October 8th, 2018 at 11:33 PM ^
We’d have no shot with 2 losses, especially with the b10 being so meh this year.
