"He's a hard worker, and he watched me and Tim (Hardaway Jr.) and Nik (Stauksas) put work in to become (first-round picks), and I'm just happy he's getting better," Burke said. "It's great for the program, too. It shows what type of program the University of Michigan is and the direction it continues to go in."

You've said this twice about the government. Since when is the government an authority on the defininition of sports? These gov references have nothing to do with anything.

Yes, what a wonderful comparison. Those two cases are for sure directly linked. Probably one should have been cited as precident for the other, especially since one wasn't even a legal case.

Quit crying and just pay another $300 dollars is a pretty garbage argument of why someone should buy a product. Did this idea come from Comcast?
|13 weeks 6 days ago||Yeah because no one would||
Yeah because no one would ever give them $#it or undue pressure for being 16 years old and changing their mind about something that 16 year olds change their mind about all the time. It's totally so easy and great to have every offhanded comment you make over analyized, assumed to be about football, and to be second guessed and criticized by a national audience of supposed adults. I don't know why any still developing person would feel any pressure or have any diffiuclty with that.

I think it can be broken because of the following:
Some of the elite players are reaching the majors earlier after being drafted.
Amature scouting and development has improved tremendously making it easier to fast track some guys.
Players are in better shape than before due to advances in nutrition science and the multi hundred million dollar incentives to stay in shape.
Medical science advancement has has helped players miss less time than injury.
Some players will inevitably try to eek out extra years given the financial incentives
Inevitably there will be expansion. You can argue this won't add more potential record breakers to the mix (expanding the number of players does not expand the number of elite players) but it will make water down the pitching that elite players have to face.

I used to work at a managment company. The partners told me about this meeting with a horrible person of a producer, there was some off handed joke they made about what if there was a show that followed depressed people that were going to off themselves. Horrible producer got really excited and started spitballing what the actual show would be. They had to tell him they were joking and did not want to create a show where people took their own lives.

Maybe they're referring to how quickly Nussmeirer has been able to paste together an offense out of the cut up broken pieces of one that that Borges left behind. Also have you seen those guys paste? So fast! So amazing!

I remember watching an utterly dominant (post eligibility) Jerad Ward destryoing it in the CCRB. Dunks, layups, he was scoring at will. I didn't understand why he wasn't in the NBA. Then he started shooting from futher away and it became clearer.

"Pigs" is a pretty good term to associate with an organization that tries to harm the amature eligibility of unsigned draft picks.

If just dad did it after all the protest from mom that one signature could harm their family dynamic for a really long time.
I don't think we have enough information to be talking in this thread about what they should or should not let him do. Obviously people (even under aged) should be able to activly make or at least be involved in the choices that shape their lives, but there are all sorts of reasons that 17 year olds aren't considered legally independant and 18 year olds who are independant can harm themselves doing things they wouldn't have considered years later.

She shouldn't have to defend herself for wanting what she thinks is best for her kid. She may be right or wrong about what IS best, but she obviously cares and is putting in the effort.

Yeah I also hate it when engineering students get paid in the summer commensurate with their engineering skills and I hate it when film students make films in between semesters and get money for their skillsets. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! The best way they can represent their schools is to be grossly underpaid and suck it up.

I'm getting sick of our athletic department's of 'eat our garbage' attitude. Then they just lie about it when they're called out. Now they're trying to force people to be quiet behind closed doors because they know they're doing the wrong thing but want to do it anyway.
I think what's most dissapointing to me is they've hurt my opinion of them so much that anytime a flame of controversy pops up, I assume they're in the wrong and they did something greed-related before I even hear all the details. My thinking used to be the exact opposite.
I've noticed myself getting less passionate about U of M sports because of this. It really bothers me. When they do something to screw the students or community, it doesn't seem surprising anymore so instead of angry I just feel a little more detached.

|35 weeks 4 days ago||I don't know what's||
I don't know what's worse:
A) The people who think booing and telling players they suck will 'wake them up' and make them magically good again. As if all they were waiting for was: You, the big special guy who paid blabbity blah for a ticket to whip them into shape from the stands.
B) The people who are directly calling or implicitly calling other posters names like "asshole" because they aren't living up to the glorious 'Michigan Standard' which apparently does not say anything about passing around the word asshole like it's candy.
Look it's ok to be frustrated during frustrating time. It's ok to express displeasure or dissagreement with the current situation, or how people are handling the situation. Doing so is a good thing. But adding to the poison is not.
We expect the players and coaches we cheer for to rise above adversity and to figure out workarounds when they don't have all the proper tools. Why can't try to avoid melting to pieces too?
We all want the team to be better and it seems to me the only thing we can do to have any actual impact on that is to be a great community. Great communities attract and nurture talent. The what's happening lately amonst ourselves is helping matters in that regard.

You raise a good point. I'd been thinking GA but I'm sure they'll figure out some way to sock the richer European countries with liscensing fees.
A few other points:
We can't play Michigan State because a Spartan riot would have global ramifications.
All living recruits from all classes will be on unofficial visits (so we better win).
If we lose it will be the students' fault.

The game takes place in a wall-less field dubed "Open Earth Stadium." Stephen Ross purchases all the admissions for a penny a each and "donates" them to the global population population.
Offical attendance over 7 billion, the game makes 70 million plus at the "gate," and the band still isn't invited as a cost-savings measure.
