Even if it is true, for some reason this doesn't worry me at all.

a player who has made his decision going to a school that isn't michigan on his own dime?
January 9th, 2013 at 4:10 PM ^
Unofficial or not, it being Auburn, it seems unlikely it's his "own dime."

If anything, this recruitment reminds me of Josh Garnett. Teased us until the day he chose Stanford. I still do think Michigan will end up with Green though... Just scary when teams down south get the last word.
Treadwell reminds me of Jordan Diamond. Had us as a leader throughout the entire time but chose not to commit and kept "enjoying the recruiting process" then ended up committing elsewhere.

During the AA game, he said he needed to visit Auburn and Tennessee again to meet the new coaching staffs. He's already taken his official to Auburn, ergo visiting again "on his own dime" (Read: on a booster's private jet)
January 9th, 2013 at 5:11 PM ^
But Auburn grads can't afford private jets.
January 9th, 2013 at 5:25 PM ^
I know that was a tongue-in-cheek comment, but some dude named Tim Cook (CEO of a small startup named after a fruit) is an Auburn grad. Pretty sure his stock options could buy a fleet of G6s.

No visits for RB Derrick Green this weekend. Family taking break after San Antonio for #ArmyBowl
January 9th, 2013 at 3:43 PM ^
But, other programs are gonna bust their humps for top guys like Green. We have to work hard to get them, and in this environment, at least that hard to keep them.
Auburn, though? That program is not in a great place, although maybe they sell him on "play now." Not really something that differentiates them from us. He will at a minimum be in the mix if he goes Blue.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
looks like 'pay now' got autocorrected to 'play now'.

Until he signs a LOI, there is no such thing as a "lead" with any meaning.

Because it's an unofficial, dummy.

January 9th, 2013 at 5:02 PM ^
Maybe I'm confused about "on his own dime." With Auburn, I'm sure they can find a way to subsidize any unofficial trip and add on another $100K.

I think Auburn fans are currently read the book, 'The Secret". If you think it long enough, and wish for it, it will come true.

That might also explain that tornado in Tuscaloosa a couple of years ago.

We knew he wanted to take additional visits. Those visits had to take place sometime, so the fact that it is this weekend wouldn't seem to make much of a difference.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:58 PM ^
I think the problem isn't so much that he's going to visit a school that isn't Michigan after he said he already knew where he was going (which is already bad), it's that he's paying for the trip himself. Definitely not good.
January 9th, 2013 at 4:12 PM ^
He's said he was going to take visits to AU and UT. He's already taken officials to both those schools. He knows it's going to be on his own dime. Everybody else knows it would be on his own dime. This is not a surprise.
January 9th, 2013 at 4:15 PM ^
Yesss exactly now will everyone shut up about these fucking dimes?

I would take a trip to Auburn too if it only cost me a dime.
January 9th, 2013 at 4:44 PM ^
He's going on his own nickel to listen to the new staff give their two cents on how to give a dollar's worth of free advice. Better?
January 9th, 2013 at 4:58 PM ^
The hick states DO have a low cost of living...
January 9th, 2013 at 3:59 PM ^
I would be more worried if this visit was taking place closer to signing day considering he said he wanted to make a decision late January.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
In that rivals chat he said he wanted to meet the new Auburn staff, so this isn't actually that surprising.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
My guess is Michigan still leads, but he has liked Auburn in the past and wants to at least the new coaching staff a chance before actually committing. He's just cleaning up any loose ends before finishing the process. Maybe he finds out he likes the coaching staff and goes to Auburn, but I don't think he's making this trip to commit there (he hasn't even met the coaches yet).
January 9th, 2013 at 3:48 PM ^
If he's going to commit to Michigan, I'd like him to be done looking around. If he's going to commit to Auburn, he should make sure he's comfortable. Either way, I hope he has a nice time. In fact, I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

He said he would. He took officials to Tenn and Auburn, then they got new coaches. I think it's a good idea for him to at least meet them, despite him already knowing where he wants to go.
January 9th, 2013 at 5:04 PM ^
I agree, but for some reason those words do not make me feel any better.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:54 PM ^
be swayed by Gus' spread attack, especially as his spread focuses on RB runs outside the tackle - and we're not even considering his favorite play of the jet sweep.
Plus, his OV for the Georgia game had the distinct benefit of showing him 80% of Auburn fans leaving by half. They are bandwagon fans with a win-at-all-cost mentality.
Never know, but AU shouldn't be our biggest threat.
January 9th, 2013 at 3:57 PM ^
Gus can change the focus of his spread attack. He focused on RB runs to the outside at Auburn with Newton because Newton was a great between the tackles runner but didn't have elite speed.
Also, Green has really good speed, him attacking the edge isn't too much of an issue.
All that said, I still don't think he wants to play in a spread attack and my guess is Michigan still leads, as I commented above.
