Scout 300 is up
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&pid=88&yr=2013
9 Texas commits in the top 100
4 Michigan, 4 OSU, 5 Alabama.
Thomas, Morris, Kugler are 5 stars.
Dukes, Taco, Lewis, Dawson and Hill are three stars.
The rest are 4 stars.
Introducing, the new and improved Big 2, Little 10.
Is BIG 2 also code word for Hoke's golden poop?
That would be the Golden Deuce.
They're biased against Michigan.
Dammit, you beat me to it, i had made a table and everything. Oh well, I'll just post the table here.
Current commits
Player | Rank | Stars |
Patrick Kugler | 25 | 5 |
Shane Morris | 28 | 5 |
Dymonte Thomas | 35 | 5 |
Kyle Bosch | 49 | 4 |
Chris Fox | 137 | 4 |
Jake Butt | 147 | 4 |
Logan Tuley-Tillman | 153 | 4 |
Wyatt Shallman | 179 | 4 |
Michael McCray | 202 | 4 |
Jourdan Lewis | 251 | 3 |
Davis Dawson | 264 | 3 |
Jaron Dukes | 287 | 3 |
For what it's worth, Jourdan Lewis is the very first 3-star, and thus I'd guess he bump up to a 4-star in future rankings.
Note: the only two guys of ours who are not the top 300 are Taco and Hill. I'm not too surprised to see Hill not on the rankings, but I am surprised to see Taco not be included.
Thanks man, good work.
So I guess they think Texas is #1 right now and we're #2?
I'm not sure because we have 3 5* and they only have 2. Scout is slow as usual so they don't have team rankings for 2013 yet.
had a huge mexican buffet for lunch. Another Taco isn't high on their list.
Quality of play aside, this class could provide us with countless opportunities for puns. Butt, Taco, mcCRAY, it could be a bountiful 4-5 years.
Shouldn't Bosch also be a 5-star since Scout always has the top 50 as 5-stars? Why haven't they done that yet?
they get there gradually over the course of the season. They tend not to drop ratings, so they're conservative at first.
Usually as the season progresses they add more 5 and 4 stars.
Their explanation has been that he was only a situational pass rusher his junior year, and they don't think he's nearly polished enough.
That's stupid.
I don't really have much else to say regarding that matter.
The top 50 in Scout get 5*s and top 300 get 4*s......so if the rankings remain the same, we actually have 4 5*s and 8 4-stars right now.......ridiculous!
A table is something I eat off of when I'm feeling too fancy for the floor. 'Round these here parts that would be known as a "Chart? Chart!"
I've never understood why being "invisible" is a pejorative in sports.
I think it is a tremendous advantage.
No way Taco stays a 3-star. He'll move up, for sure.
Why so little love for Dukes from the recruiting sites? Is he slow? Does he have butterfingers? Jammed too easily? I love the idea of his height on the outside.
Yeah, especially after the smackdown Dukes gave Burrows the OSU highly ranked 4* commit.
I'll take 4 years of skying over Burrows, thankyouverymuch.
Commenting on one of our recruits, mentioned by the OP, is Offtopic. Another bullseye, mods!
It's not the mods. Anybody with over 100 points can moderate a comment. Also, you're new here, so I'll just tell you: it's pointless to whine over a post getting negged. They don't affect your points or anything else of worth, so it just comes across as really petty and immature. It happens to all of us.
to me (except probably on this post now, of course!) RABLE
Thank you for explaining the system. Not trying to come across as a Negative Nancy, but I guess I don't understand what enjoyment people get from downvoting a relevant comment.
I was hoping I wouldn't need to attach Kate Upton gifs to each comment, but maybe I do. I'll be back after several hours in google images.
the same reason people feel the need to attach Kate Upton to get a posbang.
I mean, it can't hurt.
Also, whining about how you've been user-moderated is the surest way to garner more negative attention and negative user moderation.
It really is a vicious little cycle we run here.
Dawson? I've only seen Hill with CMU, UM, and Sparty..
Scout is really high on Kugler making him the #1 OG in the country.
I also laugh at their "needs improvement" for Shane. Decision making???? He decided to come to Michigan. We all know he has great decision making skills.
Yes - Scout is crazy high on Kugler. Lichtenfels says he's the best PA lineman in several years with his combination of intensity and smarts.
Lichtenfels says Kugler is bigger than both Stefon Wisnewski and Chris Jacobson, but is like a meaner Wisnewski or smarter Jacobson. Those are some high expectations.
And he's our center. BAHAHA.
Its also interesting to see Ty Isaac rated above all the other RBs. It'd be so great if he were to committ this week, starting another commit-apalooza.
Texas is representing. All i remember hearing is their Junior Day did not net the commits that it has in the past...although looking at this list they are doing ok.
I know Texas is Texas and all, but for some reason I thought they were slow out of the gate this year. nope.
They usually throw out lots of offers on their junior day, but this year they only offered about 7 guys.
It just so happened that those guys decided to commit after the junior day. Like you said Texas is still going to be Texas when it comes to recruiting.
I don't get it with the Longhorns. For all the talk about how well the SEC recruits Texas recruits just as well year in and year out. Since 2002 they've had two #1 classes, four #3, #7, #10, #13, #14 & #16. That's eight top 10 classes in the last eleven years and only 1 MNC since 1970.
By contrast:
LSU has had two #2, #3, #5, three #7, #8, #9, #15 & #19. 2 MNC's
Bama #1, two #2, #4, #7, #16, #18, #19, #22 & two #26+. 2 MNC's
B1G:
OSU #1, two #3, #4, #6, #7, #11, #13, #16, #20 & #25 2 MNC's
UM #2, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #12, #14, #19, #29. 0 MNC's
(per Scout)
Also, I really hate to say it, but I honestly don't think we have the #1 class in the nation at the current moment. Texas's recruiting class is looking very good right now. That however, can definitely change if we pick up a couple key guys (some combination of Isaac, Treadwell, Fuller, Vanderdoes and Cravens).
They hold their junior day. The entirety of the state of texas attends and hope for an offer. The best guys get one. They commit. Then the rest of the recruiting world catches up and everyone realizes that the Texas players aren't the only good recruits out there.
That's what TExas does- they wrap up the kids from Texas early.
Look at all the Texas talent on the top 100- 7/15 of them are going to Texas.
Texas players:
10- Texas
14- Oklahoma
21- uncommited
30- Texas AM
42- Texas
43- Texas
48- Texas
52- Texas
53- Texas
54- Texas AM
70- uncommited
78- Texas
84- uncommited
89- uncommited
100- uncommited
MICHIGAN PLAYERS
28 (Morris)- UM
99- Elmer- ND
They have a huge advantage with so many Texas kids commiting early and so many top TX recruits. MI can't just take top MI guys and get a top 10 class like Texas can. It is harder to get a top class when there are less guys who immediately sign- like the top TX guys who root for Texas and sign right away.
TX 15, MI 2 for top 100- that's why Texas can put up quick monster recruiting classes and why it is so amazing Michigan is able to do that without the top MI talent. Ohio State can do similarly in Ohio what Texas does- but not with quite as many top recruits- (Ohio has 5 top 100 recruits- three to OSU, Thomas to us, and one uncommited.)
it's surprising that Mack Brown does not have Texas at the top of the Big 12 every year with that kind of talent at his disposal.....
I'm not surprised, he is a horrible
Does anyone know if UM is still recruiting Peter Kalambayi from NC?
Not sure yet anymore since he doesn't get mentioned in the same group when we discuss LBs. His teammate Uriah Lemay is still be recruited as far as I know.
Does Scout not award any 4 stars after #250? I'm pretty surprised to see Lewis a 3*.
Yes, if you look at 2012 the entire Scout 300 is 4 Stars. Also, they always have the top 50 as 5 Stars, so assuming he holds his position Bosch could get a fifth star as well.
Why even make a top 300 and put 3* players on list. Why not make a top 250 like Rivals. At least they stop at the 250 and they are all 4* players, you don't see 200 4 *s then 50 3*s. I guess I will folllow the very biased Rivals Rankings this yeasr since we have 12 4 stars. i wonder if David Dawson stayed in Texas would he have 4 stars now. Also for those who have the time keep track of all of Texas's 4 star recruits and also Bama's recruit to see how many get bumped up to five star status.
I like that they name the top 300 even if they're being conservative with handing out a fourth star for now (b/c they don't want kids to lose stars later). It was nice to see Dukes show up on one of these lists. There's a big difference between being one of the very top 3-star kids and among the top 300 nationally and being a mid-to-low 3-star. It's both good information and good that guys like Dukes, Lewis, and Dawson are in the former group. (For Hill, I think it's mostly about his position.)
