Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....Before the crazy Pac-12 refs retroactively try to throw a flag...
January 4th, 2012 at 12:04 AM ^
No because he set himself for 1 second.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:15 AM ^
Not to be a douche because WOOOOOOOO SUGAR BOWL WIN WOOOOOO
But he did not set himself for a second. However, spirit of the rule and all that: He gained no advantage for moving forward at the snap (so no Illegal Motion). He gained no advantage for simulating a snap (false start). Therefore, there's no reason to throw a flag.
Technically, yeah it could have been called. But you ask the VTech coaches and they'll say no, it's not a call-worthy offense.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:27 AM ^
Maybe a second is not the best time interval but he did reset himself after foward movement.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:04 AM ^
I love your post.
WOOOOOOOO!!!!!
January 4th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
SUGAR BOWL CHAMPS!!!! WHOOOO!!!!
January 4th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
I'd be so pissed off tonight. They have all the bitching rights in the world after this game.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:07 AM ^
I dunno man the tip of that ball definately hit the ground.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:11 AM ^
but that rule is just terribly written, and I meant the game as a whole, they deserved to win. We got a lot of lucky breaks and things going for us by inches. I thought their fake punt was a bad call that might have cost them the game (should have just gone for it with normal offense) but if that was a poker game, I'd be cashing my chips and getting out of town as quickly as possible.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:30 AM ^
If I had just watched my team deploy that kind of special teams performance, I would not be saying we deserved to win. I should know: I did watch that kind of special teams performance, back on New Year's Eve.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:12 AM ^
I don't think he landed inbounds.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:20 AM ^
January 4th, 2012 at 12:11 AM ^
Eh, if they could have got their ground game going, or converted in the red zone, or not fumbled, (I'm gonna give that Frank Clark interception entirely on Frank Clark), or not missed thier last field goal, or threw a better ball on that corner to Coale, then it wouldn't have mattered. The only legitimate gripe they have is that ridiculously lucky botched FG at the end of the first half. Plus, after the end of Iowa game, I would say karma owed us a bit.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:11 AM ^
Boo-hoo. Our All-America center got hurt 10 minutes before the game. That's a worse break than anything they got.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:50 AM ^
Molk was not himself tonight. He was laboring out there. Borges's offensive gameplan didn't look great, but to be fair to him, it's got to really suck to spend all these weeks preparing a gameplan and then have your best lineman get hurt right before kickoff.
January 4th, 2012 at 9:24 AM ^
Not to mention RVB got hurt early (he was on crutches afterward) in the game and had to play through it.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:12 AM ^
They don't really have a right to bitch about the officials, but VT fans have every reason to be pissed at their team for dominating in the stats but losing in the only stat that really counts. Ultimately, though, it will go down in the books as a Michigan victory, and nobody except VT fans and Michigan fans will give a shit in a week or so.
When someone is going through the scores, all they are going to see is a Michigan victory. That's good enough for me.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:16 AM ^
For every time they bitch about the officials (assuming they do), show the double hands to the face penalty that was missed twice ont he 4th and 11 conversion. It was directly in the ref's face but missed. As blatant as they come
January 4th, 2012 at 12:37 AM ^
Straight arm to the face by their receiver out blocking for their qb.
That said, Demens was not good tonight, not good at all.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:40 AM ^
He was clearly out of bounds before ever having possession. No more need be said.
Also, there were a couple of very blatant holding penalties the refs did not call on the VT Oline, one of which, I think, happened on the 4th down scramble up the middle.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:13 AM ^
He didn't have possession. The ball wasn't in his hands so much as between his forearms, and the nose of the ball hit the ground at the same time his elbow did.
I just assumed the replay gods would give it to them, because that's the way it has gone all year.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
Kickers do that all the time. Not the stutter-step, but start their wind up before the ball is snapped.
11-2. GO BLUE!
January 4th, 2012 at 12:06 AM ^
But this thread shouldn't have been made. We have 2-3 threads on the game already. If you really wanted to know, you could've asked it there.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:13 AM ^
Seems like a funny comment coming from a guy who starts 12 threads a day. :)
January 4th, 2012 at 12:25 AM ^
I'm pretty sure I only created 11 today. Boom, roasted.
January 4th, 2012 at 1:36 AM ^
Clearly the posters above was poking fun at me...I respond with a lighthearted joke back and get double negged.
I can definitely see how this drives certain folks to just post more with the intentions of just pissing people off. I now see how this board drives people into being d-bags because of stuff like what just happened. Two people simiply joking and a couple of folks going neg happy.
However, Michigan won the f-ing Sugar Bowl. I'm definitely not going to go on a MGoBlog crusade because of stupidity like that. GO BLUE!
P.S. I love me some haters. So keep it up! What makes it even better is when they don't post afterwards or bring something to the conversation.
January 4th, 2012 at 10:39 AM ^
Go Blue! Thank you seniors! Team 132, forever.

I've got the west, if someone wants to cover the east

January 4th, 2012 at 12:08 AM ^
IDK, but there were about 400 favorable spots and missed calls all game on them. The officiating was just terrible all around.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:15 AM ^
Seriously. How about the no call block in the face on our DB on that 4th and 11 play that Logan ran for? He almost knocked our guy's helmet off. That would have saved the TD.
January 4th, 2012 at 1:57 AM ^
I believe it was our last drive in regulation. Denard tried to throw down the sideline to Hemingway and in real time all you saw was Hemingway on the ground. When they showed the replay the DB got beat and BLATANLY grabbed/stuck his leg out to trip Junior, but they call the ticky tack PI on Countess in the endzone on a ball that Shaq might not have caught. All in all officiating happens, luckily we made less mistakes than them and were more disciplined, defense played AMAZING in the red zone when it mattered and held them to field goals.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:09 AM ^
But great win nonetheless. Under 200 yards of offense but the defense played pretty good. Beamer made some bad coaching decisions also. Team 132 congrats.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:39 AM ^
where I was so thrilled with the defense and so frustrated at the same time. They totally shut Wilson down, but could not seem to make a 3rd down stop. Ryan, Clark, & RVB had a great game....Gordon, not so much.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:09 AM ^
yes - absolutely yes. but i don't care
January 4th, 2012 at 12:10 AM ^
Did you see Gibbons drill that thing? The 5 yards wouldn't have mattered.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:11 AM ^
/s and yes he should have.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:13 AM ^
Technically if he stops for a full second... It should be ok? either way.. I didn't celebrate right away because I assumed a flag would be thrown
January 4th, 2012 at 12:14 AM ^
No, you asshat. Go celebrate.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:14 AM ^
Yeah, I think he was called for that one other time this year.
I don't care either.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:18 AM ^
So many lucky breaks in a game VT dominated. Regardless, I'm getting the fuck out of town.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:33 AM ^
credit to Michigan. Yes, the V-tech D did dominate but so did the Michigan D. The majority of V-tech's offensive output = field goals. The Michigan D was on, as was V-tech's. We need to give credit where credit is due.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:21 AM ^
all night. He said that his timing was off. I saw him do it on one other occasion. I kept thinking it was a false start.
But the mods should delete this thread so the VT fans don't use it as evidence to whine.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:20 AM ^
Gibbons got called for moving to the line earlier in the year, didn't he? Either way, he did it on EVERY FG ATTEMPT! So, if they were going to call it, they would have called it. Sure, VT played better for most of the game, but they also put a few bullet holes in their shoes, too (if you know what I mean). Either way, we'll take it.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:36 AM ^
It must be legal... otherwise he did it four times. His most exaggerated one was on the fake.
