Adolphus Washington Quote
“It’s the education part,” Washington continued. “I know all these schools athletically can offer me the same thing. The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you’re giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail.”

Not sure how to respond to this.....
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
Tate said something similar about Michigan ... right before he failed out.

'Ohio State: You can't fail!'

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
he's probably right.
BTW: Beat Ohio!
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
How do you respond? You don't respond. You let it be because it is right there in the flesh.

I pray that he makes the NFL. Not sure that Ohio Midget Tossing degree he's going to earn will earn him much of a living in the real world
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
He could always join the Boren clan plowing snow
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
So basically he is saying that OSU gives you passing grades regardless. Nice job NCAA. Looks like we have some quality student athletes down in Columbus.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
He must have confused OSU with UM professor John Hagan's Independent Studies degree.

Snorkels can be purchased in the campus bookstore
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
The bookstore accepts memorabilia in exchange for the snorkels as well.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
that is if you show minimal effort
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Went to OSU because it was easy?
This doesn't really strike me as the character we are looking for in our recruits (or at least that which I myself like to see in our recruits). I want someone who works hard, both on and off the field. And, importantly, one who is committed to Michigan, rather than being committed to his desire to not do work.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
Definitely not a Leader & Best
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
I can just imagine the Head of Admissions at OSU doing a facepalm right after reading that statement.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
If you want to be work at McDonald's - YOU CAN'T FAIL!
Come to OSU - where fast food isn't just a job - it's a career...
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
Well ok man...
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Feels like he is repeating something he heard verbatim by OSU faculty/coaches.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
When I read that quote.

So EASY. If I put so much effort I can't fail. The teachers and boosters will give me a free ride. If he was so concerned about education he would be at M, Virginia, ND, Stanford, cal, NC, Duke, not osu. No disregard to osu but it's so much easier to find a job with a M degree. My cousin graduated from osu has had a horrible time finding a decent job. On the other hand my friends at M are getting accepted into grad programs left and right.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
vs getting into a grad program are two different things.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
that he said it. The truth is that is nearly the case at any big time college.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
Sounds like a perfect match between player and school; their interests are perfectly aligned.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
statement to make. And yes Mr Washingon, I will take a super sized fries with my order plz...

In addition to out tough other teams, maybe that memo needs to be passed out.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
Can we run that commercial opposite the Michigan Difference or Apollo crew commercials?
"Ohio State: Even if you’re giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail.”
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
He's absolutely right. Andy Katzenmoyer and Ken-Yon Rambo (and his 0.00 GPA) would totally agree.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
We're all laughing at this because it is admittedly funny, but the sad thing is that this young man is only going to have this belief supported and promulgated. That does not bode well for his future.

November 22nd, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
Ah, some jokes just write themselves...
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
I thought these boys were supposed to be getting an education. STUDENT-athletes, students first. That's how it should be. I'm glad we're not picking up on this guy if this is his priority when talking about eduction... not failing out. If that attitude carries over to the field he certainly isn't a player I'd like.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
This is too funny but if you have a 247sports account maybe you could answer

Is Diggs coming to AA for The Game?

The photo caption says he's going to UVa...
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
This is hilarious
As an alum this really pisses me off though. For what it's worth, I had to work my ass off there (my friends did as well), and I have a job.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
Outstanding..
Might be time for a visit to Big Katz' blog.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
No, you can't fail.
November 22nd, 2011 at 2:58 PM ^
exactly, he's going to attend a school where he can give a minimal effort in academics and let all his tutors do his work for him so he can stay eligible. best of luck to him. can't wait til we face him and shut him down.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
That does not sound like someone who is going to come in and bust their butt for the program. I'd be concerned about that if I was a Buckeye fan; which, thankfully, I'm not.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:03 PM ^
Damn! I chose the wrong college!
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
Just ask Cris Carter's son about failing out of OSU. I know that it seems imposible, but it is not in reality. If that is their selling line, then they are really in trouble.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
Everyone does -- kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
But at least those things take a little effort.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
In all of his 35 years that is the dumbest thing Washington has ever said.
