that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

When I was a senior at Albany High, our bball team was undefeated until we lost to Shen in the Section II finals. One thing to lose to those a$$holes in football, but in basketball? Ugh. The star of their team, Greg Koubek, went from there to, naturally, Duke.

Still remember the first time I saw him play, in the NY state championship game when he was a senior (on TV, I wasn't there in person). He went absolutely nuts, put up huge numbers. I remember thinking, well, his level of competition wasn't much in HS (he went to a pretty small school), but he just might turn out to be fun to watch in A2. Oh how I miss knowing we could get 5 yards a carry from an RB...

We look like a team playing its third game in three nights, for obvious reasons.

Grew up just off campus in Albany, back when they were a D-III school, so this one was particularly sweet. What a crazy ending. Remember kids, it doesn't matter if you miss your first 9 threes, as long as you hit your tenth with less than 2 seconds left to win it.

Remember it like it was yesterday. As everyone knows, Eruzione's game winner came exactly at the 10 minute mark. My Dad, not wanting me to get too excited, was very blase and said, 'of course the Soviets will still win the game.' 5 minutes left: 'well, maybe the US will get a tie.' Just absolute delirium when it ended. I was on crutches at the time (broken ankle); no doubt my parents were sure I was going to badly re-injure myself. And yes, everyone forgets that going into the games on Sunday, combinations actually existed such that any 4 of the teams could've won the gold, and the US wasn't even guaranteed a medal. Somewhere in my childhood home I still have the newspaper headline from the day after the game.

Could there be a better example of Brandon's "if it ain't broke, break it" philosophy?

I was at the '93 Rose Bowl. When he broke off that long TD run (88 yards?), I almost lost my mind.

I can't believe Brian failed to mention Lou Holtz's fabulous season as HC of the Jets. Lou went 3-10 before quitting with a game left and running back to college football.

The spread in '96 against tOSU must've been higher than '93 or '95, since it was in Columbus. Also the best game I've ever attended. The stunned silence at the end of the game was absolutely priceless.

I feel like I'm reading Pravda. Magnus, you're right that none of us knows whether Morris has a concussion. I think the point is that given the hit that he took and how wobbly he was, it was beyond negligent to not take the time to check him out, which they clearly didn't do. Utterly disgraceful.
