Michigan vs Iowa Announcing Crew Nightmare (Not Pam Ward)
Well I hate to be the one to start complaining already but ESPN has announced the crew for the Michigan game.
Play-by-Play = Dave Pasch
Color = Chris Spielman
Sideline Reporter = Quint Kessenich
After Spielman's terrible "commentary" earlier this year I am hoping the radio and tv sync up well tomorrow.
Edit: Changed the title so no one was mistaken that it could be Pam Ward, sorry for the scare.

Nightmare?
"Beth, what do you think of his play?"
"Well Pam, he's really just a good player at football."

Chris Spielman>>>Matt Millen>>>>>>>>Pam Ward.

Well played

Since when can't you bang people??? Guess I am not as addicted to MGoBlog as I thought.
November 4th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
It's that I don't like announcers who pick on the Wolverines for self-serving reasons.
November 4th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
Otherwise, Millen > Speilman.
November 4th, 2011 at 7:39 PM ^
Beth Mowins is miles beyond Pam Ward in terms of competency. In my opinion, she's a generic, average football announcer, but with a female voice. Frankly, in the standard Mowins-Bellotti pairing, Bellotti is the one who is tough to listen to.
Pam Ward shouldn't be allowed near sports.
November 4th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
She's also identifiably female.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
oh fuck
November 4th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
If he uses the line "they are gonna come in there and get punched in the mouth" or "those guys are gonna get punched in the mouth, what are they gonna do about it" I might tie up a noose and hang myself. Oh wait! My mute button works!
November 4th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
Only announcers and "journalists" on the level of Drew Sharp use "Hit them in the mouth."
November 4th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
ESPN has a lot of bad announcing teams.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
I would take Millen over Pam Ward, Meyer, or Spielman. As long as we're not talking about who I want as the general manager of my NFL team.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:57 PM ^
I agree, but there are a host of bad ESPN announcers/commentators. I went with the one that most strikes fear in the hearts of Michigan fans, not me personally. There are a lot of Lions fans who want nothing to do with Millen and Millen nothing to do with Michigan football, even as a commentator.
November 4th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
They also have this.

Aged Hillary Swank?

Is it just me, or do Urban Meyer and Chris Spielman usually sound like they're watching a librarian re-shelve books? Bored and angry.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
You must be an honors LSA grad.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:14 PM ^
Could be worse. First thing I thought when reading the title was: "Please God not Pam Ward!"
November 4th, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
Who the hell names their kid "Quint"?
November 4th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
November 4th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
"Quint, meet your siblings: Quad, Trip, Duo and Uni."
November 4th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
It's an awesome, manly name... after Robert Shaw's character in "Jaws."
Show me the way to go home...
November 5th, 2011 at 7:36 AM ^
I'm tired and I want to go to bed.

Agreed Quint from Jaws= Supermanly.

'nuff said
November 4th, 2011 at 6:19 PM ^
Despite the fact that it seems like the board dislikes every announcer on every network I think it's pretty simple.
Michigan wins = good, unbiased and fair announcers
Michigan loses = crappy, one-sided idiots who don't know football from fly-fishing
Sort of like the officiating...........
November 4th, 2011 at 6:35 PM ^
Heh, there's no room for such rationality here.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
It doesn't matter whether Michigan wins or loses, especially since most games I watch don't even feature Michigan. Most commentators have a hard job, I'll admit, but most are fucking horrible. Very few actually know anything about the team other than some highlighted facts for them.
My favorite announcer is Gus Johnson, for obvious reasons. He makes the game exciting to watch and doesn't constantly say stupid thing that are ridiculously wrong.
November 4th, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
Maybe it's just me then. But i have noticed that no matter who gets assaigned to our games the board generally feels they are the worst announcers available. I guess I dont pay that much attention to them - I couldn't tell you who does our games 30 seconds after they're over and could care less who is calling it.
Except Pam Ward. She really does suck.
November 4th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
Not true, I'd be happy with Keith Jackson.
Also, I really don't mind Sean McDonough. He just always bring Millen with him.
November 4th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
With "uncle" Brent.
November 5th, 2011 at 10:24 AM ^
I will respect your opinion but... Musberger's would continually boot lick Laurinaitis, even when aforementioned neanderthal would jump on piles late and then jump around like a clown. Also, Musberger's defense of the Vest post-firing was sycophantic.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
November 4th, 2011 at 6:25 PM ^
Could you imagine Gus Johnson calling a close football game, the dude might explode. He is great!
November 4th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Gus Johnson and Keith Jackson together would be my dream duo. A perfect balance of temperaments and styles. I'd be on the edge of my seat all game. The broadcasts would echo through the universe for all eternity.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
......while your ears are bleeding?
November 4th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
Spielman isn't that bad. At least he knows what he's talking about.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
Pasch I see, but Spielman not only doesn't suck, he is excellent. He is enthused, objective about OSU, and talks about fundamental football, pointing out tackling problems in particular. He is good--not my first choice, but good.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
My previous "ears bleeding" remark aside, it was directed more at Pasch and Quint than Spielman. I actually like Spielman - I would rather see him teamed with other people.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
I disagree, he's pretty bad. Usually doesn't know what he's talking about unless it's completely obvious. I wouldn't call him enthusiastic, just not dead boring like others. He does try to rip Michigan when he can but not too much that it's dead obvious.
Herbstreit is a way better announcer and is very objective in his analysis. He seems to do his homework for the most part too.
November 4th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
Are you considered an all time great for Ohio State and the Detroit Lions?
November 4th, 2011 at 6:37 PM ^
stop your bitching. be thankful that the BTN crew isnt commentating
November 4th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
BTN Crew = about three hours of dead air, despite the audible conversation.
I usually listen to the radio feed with the TV muted in that scenario.
November 4th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
as long as Michigan wins I can put up with any idiot in the broadcast booth (except Lou Holtz).
November 4th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
i cant even understand what lou says anymore. he sounds post-stroke 100% of the time
