I'm with you....my first reaction to this was "fuck off to Maryland you selfish bastard....couldn't wait a week to interview?".

But, I try to remain calm and think about how I would react if someone is dangling a multi-million dollar contract in my face. Good luck to him, I'll be curious what kind of coaching staff he can pull together when there are so many openings available to top assistants.

How the hell can this guy come here for 1 fucking year and bounce, but bounce for a team in our conference etc: dude was just on a recruiting visit to recruits yesterday!!! This is gonna kill our defensive recruiting and the momentum we have. He will now try and poach those recruits, WATCH. The fact he lobbied for that job during the week of the OSU game really bothers me a lot. I'm kinda pissed off at him now.

Congrats to Coach Durkin! I always assumed he would be the first Harbaughssistant to get a head coaching gig. Just never thought it would be this quick!

We had three straight shutouts against teams that had little QB experience and the best part about our D (early on) was the defensive line (which is on Mattison). The linebackers sucked pretty much all year and that was Durkin's specialty.

I hope Harbaugh goes after someone like Jim Leavitt. Has ties to him and was pretty good at stopping the spread. Also, he should be able to recruit Florida since he coached there for 13 years.

Good luck to him, but this feels a bit early given he's been a full-time DC for all of 1 year.

Anyway, Harbaugh should be able to find someone else, if needed.

Shouldn't change much with Rashan Gary. Gary's mom just last week mentioned how Harbaugh is Rashan's main recruiter unlike all the other schools where they have a position coach as his main recruiter. I believe Harbaugh and Mattison are both recruiting Rashan.

I knew that Harbaugh would have a very fast growing coaching tree once he got here, I just wasn't prepared for it to start growing this fast. The mans got an exceptional eye for talent.

Welp I was wrong.

That's what happens to Harbaugh assistants. He's a great coach and leader, if you work under him people will want you.

Let's go get someone who will have, at worst, a neutral recruiting impact.

I just want to hire the next DC while Hackett is here.  As long as we're still spending top $$$ for our coaches, we should be able to land a great hire.  I just hope all the other defensive coaches stay here.

It'd be nice if he can get Maryland good enough to beat OSU and MSU every now and then. As long as he never beats us. Best of luck to him in the future, hope his replacement is good too, but lasts a little longer.

Good luck, D.J. Durkin. It will be fun seeing you next year in the Big House. Hopefully we bring in a winner on defense. We should be stacked next year on that side of the ball.

Are we sure Durkin is a good coach? He coordinated a defense for one year that performed well but also had a lot of talent. Also the worst performing group on defense is LBs which was his position group. Not saying he isn't a good coach, but he simply doesn't have the track record yet.

Well, last week was a cluster.  Due to this?  We'll never know.

Thanks for your time at Michigan DJ.  3 straight shutouts is pretty darn good.
