Return of spartan bob

Submitted by preed1 on
Michigan state up 1 vs flordia golf coast with 1.4 seconds left. FGC inbounds a pass the length of the court, clean catch, and before he catches it the buzzard goes off. Game over.

But I was told their recruiting stars would dominate.

Hmmm. I don't remember us being in close games with small schools when our great 2012 class was here.

FCGU was in the Sweet 16 in a few years ago.

It's basketball, not football.

Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley St, Slippery Rock, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Bradley, Western Michigan, Binghamton, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan are not FGCU.

You've got little brother syndrome always comparing everything to MSU...you should get that checked out.

that's... ok. he's not always comparing everything to msu. he's saying their class is hyped out of this world and they shouldn't play down to anyone. fgcu having a run a couple of years ago doesn't make a difference. with the hype they had they should be blowing everyone out, regardless of the status of their program. WD is fine.

Could be a scary team at the end of the year as freshman adjust and learn the system.

I do think that this is a little different for Izzo if he has to play with a lot of utes. Some of his players have come in and played well, but it seems like he gets the most out of his players in their junior and senior years.  Valentine seemed just ok when he was younger before breaking out.

Not to mention that FGCU initially called a TO with 2.8 seconds left but were only given 2.4, then their initial inbounds pass was immediately knocked out of bounds and somehow a full second ran off in that time. MSU was absolutely gifted that game. They look like a mediocre basketball team and I love it. Love to see them be medicore (a compliment to their football team) in both sports, as Spartans should be.

Yeah and there's no real repercussions since it's unlikely they'd get another chance that good. I hope if it was really an MSU operator that rule gets changed (yet again from the same school huh) and/or fines get doled out.

The clock operator also screwed up the previous two plays that milked about a second off, to MSU's benefit, of course. Then started the clock when FGCU inbounded the ball, as opposed to when the FGCU player caught it. Instead of having 1.4 seconds to collect himself and shoot it, the buzzer went off when he caught it so he lamely tossed up a half hook shot. This is the type of shit that makes me hate MSU. And of course the referees won't replay the final play. Unbelievable. FGCU played their asses off and then lost their final opportunity to win due the incompetence of the clock operator and refs.

from the refs too. There was a scrum with around twenty seconds left and I clearly saw an MSU player jump on the ball first and heard a spartan player yell "time out". It should've been a technical as they were out of time outs. Of course, zebras called it a jump ball which gave it back to MSU.

The buzzer goes of before he even catches the ball. I don't know how they don't replay that. What if he made it, but the defender started prematurely celebrating? They would've let it count? That's a load of BS. FGCU got screwed.

How sparty gives zero fucks about integrity in any of their sports. That was some shady shit & its not the first, 2nd or 3rd time either. Karma hopefully takes care of izzos future.

1) extra 0.5 off the clock when Harris was fouled, should have been 3.9, went to 3.4

2) extra 0.5 on the time out call.  Went from 3.4 to 2.4.  Should have been from 3.9 to 3.4

3) extra 0.5 on the inbounds play that was batted down.  went from 2.4 to 1.6.   Should have been 3.4 to 3.1

4) then the final play where the clock started on the throw instead of the catch

And then the refs just made up a rule.  Ummmm, the buzzer sounded too soon, but he missed the shot anyway, so good enough.  That's not the rule.  Inadvertant buzzer.  Offensive team's ball where they had it.  Taking it out of bounds on the offensive end (probably under the bucket) with 1.6, which really should have been 3.1.

MSU had a really good whistle all night.  Why not on the final plays, too.  Not so good to see you Bob, we really didn't miss you.

My main takeaway is that this MSU team is probably going no where, which makes me happy. Feel terrible for FGCU though. To fight their asses off for 40 mins and get screwed over like that. Why not just reset the clock and have them try again?
