Return of spartan bob

That was some awfully officiated basketball right there, MSU could've gotten away with murder.

or at the very least beat the shit out of classmates in the dorms.

MSU does get away with murder. The refs are afraid of Izzo. He probably told them the game was over and they complied.

So you're saying he's a traitor?
November 20th, 2016 at 9:30 PM ^
The OP meant to say FGCU was down 1, not MSU.

Here's a replay of the last 1.4 where the clock starts when they pass it the length of the court.

Hmmm. I don't remember us being in close games with small schools when our great 2012 class was here.

FCGU was in the Sweet 16 in a few years ago.
It's basketball, not football.
Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley St, Slippery Rock, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Bradley, Western Michigan, Binghamton, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan are not FGCU.
You've got little brother syndrome always comparing everything to MSU...you should get that checked out.

They aren't anything special.
I think you're getting tricked by the four letter acronym.
FGCU is no MTSU.

One good run in the tournament suddenly makes FGCU superior to all those teams. Good call.
Check their history prior to that season. They were a doormat in the A-Sun.
November 21st, 2016 at 9:43 AM ^
Not entirely true. They have only been a D1 team since 2011, and have been to the tournament twice since then...
November 21st, 2016 at 11:05 AM ^
Could be a scary team at the end of the year as freshman adjust and learn the system.
I do think that this is a little different for Izzo if he has to play with a lot of utes. Some of his players have come in and played well, but it seems like he gets the most out of his players in their junior and senior years. Valentine seemed just ok when he was younger before breaking out.

Not to mention that FGCU initially called a TO with 2.8 seconds left but were only given 2.4, then their initial inbounds pass was immediately knocked out of bounds and somehow a full second ran off in that time. MSU was absolutely gifted that game. They look like a mediocre basketball team and I love it. Love to see them be medicore (a compliment to their football team) in both sports, as Spartans should be.

FGCU got screwed on the clock three separate times in the last 4 seconds with the ball and a chance to win. Feel bad for their guys.

They said that the shot would have counted even though time ran off. Which is BS since the kid rushed his shot since the buzzer was literally sounding before he caught it.

Either way, it's shocking that they didn't just replay the last 1.4 seconds. Unbelievable. Gotta wonder about these spartans...

on the part of the clock operator. Who thinks the clock starts on the throw in? If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I'm going to say it's a cheating duck.

They technically did review it. The problem is that they just used a stopwatch to see how long the play took, and determined that he got the shot off within the 1.6 seconds. Obviously not a good enough explanation considering the buzzer sounded as he caught the ball and clearly affected the shot.

November 20th, 2016 at 9:33 PM ^
So if the officials can look at if the clock runs out before a shot goes up, why can't they look at if the clock ran too early?
November 20th, 2016 at 9:37 PM ^
1) extra 0.5 off the clock when Harris was fouled, should have been 3.9, went to 3.4
2) extra 0.5 on the time out call. Went from 3.4 to 2.4. Should have been from 3.9 to 3.4
3) extra 0.5 on the inbounds play that was batted down. went from 2.4 to 1.6. Should have been 3.4 to 3.1
4) then the final play where the clock started on the throw instead of the catch
And then the refs just made up a rule. Ummmm, the buzzer sounded too soon, but he missed the shot anyway, so good enough. That's not the rule. Inadvertant buzzer. Offensive team's ball where they had it. Taking it out of bounds on the offensive end (probably under the bucket) with 1.6, which really should have been 3.1.
MSU had a really good whistle all night. Why not on the final plays, too. Not so good to see you Bob, we really didn't miss you.

MSU has a bad basketball team this year. I thought they would be much better with all these all star players but they don't have any big guys or depth.
