that is terrible.  the shelf life even for a solid college player is so short.  every game is a big deal.  heck, if you start for two full seasons you might get what, 2 dozen games?  that's it.  game over.  and whatever ungracious comments he might've said on his way out, not only do i forgive him, but i will forget those comments.

cade is super smart.  he will grow.  he'll be very successful in whatever career choice he makes.

In addition to short shelf lives of many college players, the comeback from significant injuries should also be considered.

Even with the advances in sports medicine and major surgeries, ACL/MCL injuries are notorious for taking a pep or two out of players steps upon their return and the likelihood of reinjury may be greater. College players have the benefit of being younger and having more time to heal but unless you're a generational talent, college rosters have a way of passing you by.

All that said, Cade has always been a competitive young man and heady player to boot. Maybe he makes it back on the field but it doesn't mean his career related to athletics has to be over. Injuries suck and take their mental toll as well. Here's to hoping he makes the best out of situation. If there is a bright spot of this news, maybe we no longer have to get a weekly Cade-watch/Iowa update on the board for the rest of this year.

Poor guy. I know a lot of folks around here aren’t big fans anymore after the way he left, but just hate to hear about a potentially career ending injury. Would he have been draftable after 2021?

I'm flattered to have fanboys who read my posts.

I don't  root for him after the way he bailed on his teammates and trashed the program on his way out, and think it's ridiculous when people want to call him a savior of the program.

That doesn't mean I'm happy to hear he has a torn ACL.  It's just a game.  I don't want to see anyone get seriously hurt.

It's quite lame that you would take peoples' posts out of context like this.

Sticking to facts is a best practice and “Snarling Wolverine” does it well in this instance:

(1). Cade didn't turn the program around.  #fact

(2). 15 TD passes in 14 games.  #fact

(3). He wasn't even a good teammate, as his behavior toward JJ (from the start) and to the rest of the team (once he lost the starting job) showed.  #fact

(4). And then he trashed the program on his way out.  #fact

*Cade has exhibited behavior which leads a lot of adults to conclude he acts as if he were a toddler.  Most quite successful UM grads who have built large, successful enterprise organizations would not hire him once he graduates. #fact

I was kind of in an odd position, like a lot of people around here I suspect.  I was mad at how he left but couldn't forget to '21 season and the win over OSU.  I wanted to see him lose at Iowa, but was ready to forgive him as soon as his college career was over.  Looks like he lost even more than I would have wanted, and I'm going to get to forgive him sooner.

You wanted to see a guy who strapped on the pads and led UM to its first championship in forever fail at Iowa because of some mildly sideways comments he made about UM...not about you, but UM football.

His comments meant that much to you...and some others.

We all know that it will be Harbaugh that brings him back to Michigan to start his coaching career because we also all know Harbaugh has a big heart and will forgive Cade for his low blow remarks.

Man, that just sucks.  This year wasn’t looking good for him.  Maybe this can be a blessing in disguise. Rehab, and come Back better than ever Cade!!!

Damn feel for the kid. Think about where he was November / December’21 and where he is now. Hope he can fight his way back - dude took us to the promised land, he’ll always be a M legend to me.

Two years ago that dude was making himself into a stud QB for Michigan. I liked him a lot. The 4th quarter huddle in The Game when he came out BARKING at his team, and they marched for yet another TD drive— I’ll never forget or be more in love with a Michigan team.

I hated the way he left, and will never be quite sure about the facts. Did the AD do him wrong, or did he just know that he had to transfer?  We will never know.

I just wish this had not happened to Cade McNamara. He needs to keep his chin up and he should be proud.

I feel bad for the kid. Being a parent makes you want to be in protective mode and hope for the best outcome. But, also as a parent, I hope I teach my kids emotional intelligence and how to win and lose with grace. I hope he recovers and is able to return, safely, to play football again.

I wish Cade a complete and speedy recovery.   Hopefully, he finished his undergrad degree in Ann Arbor and will have the time to complete his master's in Iowa City.

Hope he fully recovers, has further on field success next year, and most importantly enjoys a life unencumbered by long term pain or debility

Sorry to hear this.

It’s almost unfathomable to think about this—but I say “almost,” because, well, it could very well happen—but Iowa could still win the West.

Wisconsin is obviously in the driver’s seat now (and that Wiscy-Iowa game is in Madison this season), but still…
