Here's a news flash - every fan base has its fair share of absurd posts. I travel all over the college websites and at the top of the list are the PSU sites. For those that think UM and OSU fans are bad, take a stroll over to some of the PSU boards. They claim that EVERYONE is out to get them

It’s a top 100 player, ranked top 10 at his position who will get to throw the ball to a seemingly endless cast of 5* WRs in an offense that features the pass… in all likelihood we’re looking at an all-B1G caliber QB that will put up numbers good enough to garner All-American or even Heisman numbers, and you’re trying to paint that as a bad thing for OSU…

Odds are pretty strong that it’s going to happen. Michigan won two in a row, we’re not going to win every year. Let’s not be arrogant about this. Ohio State is still bringing in Top 5 recruiting classes every year. It would be silly to assume we’re going to go on some 15 year tear against them like they did to us.

Let’s pretend for a moment that what you just claimed is accurate.

1. that has absolutely nothing to do with what will happen moving forward. Like… at all. There have been various periods where one program was at a higher level than the other. There have also been times like the 10 year war. This feels much more like the 10 year war than it does OSU’s dominance from 2004-2019.

2. you’re implying that Michigan is going to bring in lower ranked recruiting classes and go on a dominant 10-20 year stretch over one of the top 5 programs in the sport. Seems a bit unrealistic, no? Seems just a TAD more likely that OSU will win their fair share of games moving forward as well. And that one (or more) of those will come while this kid is on campus.

Its not unfair to think Michigan wins 3 straight and possibly loses in 2024 with a new QB if JJ decides to leave, but who knows.  The days of osu winning 9 of 10 are done for right now. I also think you cant look 3 years ahead either because none of these teams will have the same players, or coaches at that.

IMO beating osu with the stacked offense coming back is a must, but once the playoffs expand to 12 teams both of these teams will be able to afford a loss to the other and easily get in.

I think there is a very real possibility the tables turn where we win 70 percent or so going forward.  We should be as good or better this year, they have a new QB instead of a top 10 draft pick , and it’s in Ann Arbor.  Good chance we win this year.  We already have much better coaches that are much better identifying and developing players.  If we start to recruit at or even near their level, look out.

if Day loses again this year and gets fired, they need to hire a coach to a team who hasn’t beaten Michigan in 5 years and has to compete against a consistently Top 5 rival.  Not nearly as appealing a position as it has been the last 20 years.

It’s not certain that we’ll win most of the time, but it is a possible outcome.

It’s still Ohio State, they would get an elite coach if/when Day is fired — which I think is unlikely anytime soon, even though I also think he’ll probably lose again this year.

They would probably get Fickell, or they’d make some other splashy hire on par with Lincoln Riley to USC. The only way they truly could truly screw up is if they promoted someone internally, like Hartline, who I personally believe is a highly overrated coach.

We already have much better coaches that are much better identifying and developing players.

Coaches, and players, come and go every year. Again, simply because we have the upper hand currently doesn’t at all mean we’re going to extend this for a decade plus. Put it this way, we’re just a couple years removed from losing 56-29 and 62-39. And let’s be completely honest with ourselves here, had the Covid game not been cancelled we would have gotten our asses kicked that year too. It certainly looked at that point in time like OSU had a firm control on the rivalry and Michigan was in a downward spiral. Two years later and we’re back to back conference champs with a pair of CFP appearances. Quick turnarounds are commonplace and OSU has more than enough talent on hand to do just that.

It’s simply not realistic to assume that the tides of this rivalry have completely turned. Ohio State gets too much talent. They’re too good of a program. Winning 70% against a top 5 program is an absolutely astronomical task. And it’s impossible to predict that type of streak going 10-20 years out.

I get it, we’ve won two in a row and it feels great. There’s a different energy around the program and morale is high. It’s just foolish to assume we’re just going to walk over OSU year after year. Whether it’s Day or someone else, they’re going to right the ship and OSU is going to win their fair share of games against us. That’s just the reality.

While I agree that we have a good shot at winning in AA this year, and concede it's all right for us fans to have that opinion, the football program has to prepare like we're the underdog.  We have to prepare like we just lost a playoff game we should have won because we were overconfident and got out-coached by an inferior TCU team.

We can feel good about the talent we have coming back, and then we need to look at Georgia's roster.  And we need to consider the "any given Sunday" phenomenon of sports that on any given Saturday, we can show up without our best stuff.  Those of us who have competed at anything at any level know that some days you're just a bit off.  Champions know how to win when they are not at their best.  They train hard enough and prepare to give them that extra margin.

And the bucknuts, Day, Hartline, meth-bender Knowles, they're all going to be extremely, extremely desperate.  The last time they competed in our house they were humiliated, blown off the ball by our OL like they were on figure skates.  Hassan ran it down their throat and hurdled the fools.

We'd better prepare for the 'nuts' best because we're going to get it.

1. Yep. This isn't the Jim Tressel era. Ohio State leveled up its passing offense going from Tom Herman to eventually Ryan Day during the Urban Meyer years

It's funny that some childish Michigan fans don't realize any decent Ohio State QB will put up video game numbers - numbers that no Michigan QB has come close to touching because of our bullshit conservatism (as if the ghost of Schembechler still haunts us). Anyone else remember when Kenny Guiton started the 2013 season in place of the injured Braxton Miller and put up eye-popping numbers?

It's the philosophy + system.

No Michigan QB in program history has yet to put up 3,000+ yards and 30+ TDs in the same season. (Record is 25 by Elvis Grbac in 1991 which was tied by Henne as a freshman in 2004.)

Meanwhile, recent OSU has a parade of QBs that pass for ~4,000+ yards and 40+ TDs each season as if it's now their birthright to do so.

I love our dominant run-oriented offense but I wish our passing game was significantly better - like ~3250 yards and 35 TDs over 12 regular season games. A better passing game would make our run game *that* much more lethal.

2. After watching Air Noland's tapes, I think he has a strong case to move up to 5 star status. The massive improvement from his sophomore season to junior season was clear. With a senior season that matches his junior senior, he'll likely be upgraded to 5 star. He's playing against good competition in Georgia and doing really really well.

they always recruit well.

harbaugh landed the #1 guy on their board so no complaints there.

well find out in 2-3 years whos the better prospect, makes the larger impact

Why brag about this?

Air might also be the steal of the class. He plays in a tougher division compared to JD and is putting up some amazing numbers. I hate that OSU got this kid. F ‘em

Dude is a four-star recruit and good catch for the Bucknuts.  Kind of harsh and unkind to call a kid a chump when he hasn't even played a snap.

Probably better to wait to see if he loses to us twice in a row because he's soft, not a leader, and is a pouty puppy who is afraid to run for yards because he wants to protect his NFL draft status.

I wish the young man the best of luck at Ohio State and that he learns what it is like to lose consistently to the University of Michigan wolverines.

And looking at his offer list, he does not have a Georgia offer. Let's see what happens if Georgia comes to the plate and offers the young man.

Not quite sure why you're saying his offer list isn't impressive as I've read that he took multiple visits to Clemson and just finished up a visit to Alabama.  OSU, Clemson and Alabama all offered him a committable offer. Clemson really wanted Noland badly.

As for Georgia, they currently have a committment from a 4=star out of CT who many feel is the most underrated QB in the 2024 class - 12th on the Composite. His rating has taken a hit (somewhat) because of the level of competition in CT. Georgia is also the leader for overall #1  2024 recruit Raiola who was formerly committed to OSU

Because his offer list after Bama (who has Sayin committed already anyway), Auburn and Clemson starts to drop off rapidly. As mentioned, OSU didn’t offer until last week. Oregon and Clemson offers didn’t show up until early March.

It’s not that he doesn’t have good offers, and I never said it wasn’t an impressive list. It’s just that his offer list doesn’t exactly live up to his ranking. I’d expect a top 100 guy to have more than 5-6 power program offers with half of those coming in the last month.

I know he blew up relatively late, but I’d expect more involvement than there is in his recruitment based on his ranking

I think you hit it for this kid in your last sentence. I live in Delaware Ohio and all you see and hear around here is everything about OSU football. Channel 10 (Columbus) noted how he was a very  late bloomer and has been absolutely blowing up in this years camps that he been part of. Clemson wanted this kid really bad

I went back and looked up the 2023 247 listings and he wasn't in the top 227 QBs listed. He's  currently the #7 QB in the 247 Composite

JonnyHintz

My issue is that his blowup really started about 6 months ago when he started putting his junior film out there.

He debuted in the composite in July and was ranked 200. November he was up to 137. By the end of February he was in the top 100. He blew up late, but not super late and he wasn’t new to the scene.

A&M offered him in November. Had a huge influx of offers in January. Miami (FL) offered him in April of ‘22. His timeline actually shows a Georgia offer from April ‘22 as well but I assume it’s not included because it was pulled once they took a commit. But he has other P5 offers going back to January of last year. So he didn’t pop up out of nowhere, he just shot up the rankings more recently.

Watching his film, he looks very good. I’m not questioning his abilities. It’s just curious that his offer list doesn’t necessarily reflect that. He has some good offers for sure, but I’d expect him to have more than 6 SEC offers and 7 ACC offers for a top 100 kid in the region.

Cool. Maybe he can throw to their two top 50 composite receivers. Also, calling a high school kid a chump? What the fuck is wrong with you? This is a dog-shit post.

Bo Harbaugh

April 9th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^

All name team.  Is “Air” kid real name or nickname?  Either way, pretty cool For a QB.  I expect him to put up video game numbers and be developed well under Day and staff.

I also read you calling him a “some chump” as sarcasm in that they can just swoop in and Pick up a top 100 QB, even after missing their top 2 targets - but perhaps I am being too kind about what is an actual terrible shitpost.

I also expect OSU to be charmin soft come November, so long as their focus remains on QB’s, WR’s and Harbaugh is around to smash fest them
