OT: NFL draft day 3 (and Spartan melts)

Submitted by m_go_T on
Where does Henry get drafted? Does Rudock? Who do the Lions (or your favorite team) take?
Also while you start your day, enjoy an unusual dose of Spartan dose of Schadenfreude. http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Contents/McShays-official-e…
Apparently there is a media conspiracy to keep the Spartan down and the next time McShay is in east Lansing, someone should "break his jaw" or they should all be ashamed.

A team with a beat up offensive line and one wr and no secondary beat us. We weren't out talented in that game like we were against osu, we got outplayed and out schemed despite having a talent advantage and at home. That botched snap only mattered because the game was close in the first place.

Stop. Outplayed is a big word. Even with crappy MSU teams,we always had close games with them. For you to say that we didn't have a bigger lead because we were outplayed is ridiculous. They had a senior in QB and Rudock was just learning the offense. If we would have played them in the second half of the season, it would have been different. I completely disagree with your take. Sparty play us well regardless of how bad their team has been over the years.

"It takes only one desperate and/or optimistic team to make it happen, and yet not a single team so far felt secure enough to jump at Cook."

This is a portion of the OP's initial statement. Yes, I'm sure NFL teams have insecurity issues and that's costing Cook millions. That is an absolutely amazing chain of angst, misinformation, and pitchforks. Can you imagine if a Michigan alum like Schefter had written whatever article they are referring to instead of McShay? They might have already sent out a militia over Cook's draft slide. Ha!

I want a LB in the fourth round a safety in the fifth.

The LB I want is Joshua Perry, and if  we cant get Perry, then I woud want Kentrell Brothers

Riley Bullough actually going there with the "disrespect" tweet. Unreal. A few years ago I finally came around to having to respect Sparty because of their undeniable on-field successes, but their incessant off-field bitching and mouth-running really does just give it all right back with me. What a trash fanbase and program.

Players can go get there money whenever they want, completely up to them and their family. But Henry should have stayed. Last year he was building, hitting his stride. Would have had a dominant senior season and been drafted in the first 3 rounds.

It sounded like the coaches were pushing for him to return. And there are only 3 grades given by the NFL Draft Advisory Board: 1st, 2nd, or neither. If the coaches were pushing him to return, I am guessing his grade was most likely "neither" or "return to school." I highly doubt he got a 2nd round grade as those grades are usually pretty conservative.

Kids have different reasons for declaring for the Draft, and I wish him the best. But Henry would have been much better served long term financially to return to school. If you are not getting a grade of 1st or 2nd, you are playing with fire. If you come into to league drafted low, you get underpaid on your rookie contract. And a lot of guys don't get a second one.

The NFL is very me-too, with both the good and bad.  If it weren't for the Manziel fiasco I'm thinking he would have gone early.  They're all desperately afraid of repeating someone else's mistake.

My Spartan friends used to constantly rip on Denard and say how he had no shot in the NFL. Well, Denard was drafted with the #135 overall selection (that was in the fifth round in 2013, but there are more picks this year so #135 falls in the late fourth round). I will be quite amused if Cook drops below #135.
