Until earlier this year, no 16 seed had ever beaten a 1 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament.  I'm in a mood to believe, even in things that haven't happened before.  Go blue, boys!

07/23/2018 - 7:25pm Nooooooo!  The dreaded…

Nooooooo!  The dreaded double post, and no "edit" option to avoid looking like a moron!  My apologies to the Mgocommunity.  I will sit quietly for five minutes now.

07/23/2018 - 7:24pm "Why should Newsome…

"Why should Newsome jeopardize the painstaking emergency surgery, lengthy recovery, and hundreds of hours of PT just to play a few downs as a backup?"

I'm sure neither you nor I would consider it important to get back on a football field after an injury.  But as a piano player myself, if I had a hand injury that kept me from the keyboard for several years, I would give almost anything and risk re-injury if I thought there was the possibility of sitting back down and running my hands over the ivories again.  Do you feel passionately about any activity?  When we love to do something, we often go to lengths that outsiders consider foolish or unwise to participate in those activities.

Best of luck, Grant, and I hope I get to see you back on the field again, even if it IS only "to play a few down as a backup".

POOOOIIIINTS!!!!  Something so meaningless but such a rush.

07/13/2018 - 11:22pm I watched a video of someone…

I watched a video of someone driving a Dodge Challenger down the tunnel onto the football field, and that looked like fun.  If you can work it out, you know.

#nospoilers

But this is my favorite HTTV yet.  Oh, wait, I say that every year.  NM.

07/05/2018 - 12:36am Congratulations!  Great way…

Congratulations!  Great way to do the reveal!

I usually spend about $200, and my kids (young adults) blow everything up for me.  We live in the country, so we aren't bothering anybody, and I love to watch them having fun together.  They ended the night with group sparklers.  It was great.

07/04/2018 - 9:31pm Fireworks and HTTV.  Perfect…

Fireworks and HTTV.  Perfect summer evening!

07/04/2018 - 12:16pm We started our celebration…

We started our celebration last night, with my four children (and two in-law children) giving the fireworks a trial run in the back field.  I sat and watched the flashes and sparkles and listened to the laughing, teasing, enthusiastic conversation between the six young adults.  I don't know what could be better.  Thank God for families and the freedom this country gives us to live as we choose.  Go Blue (and red and white, too, I guess)!

06/29/2018 - 11:09pm Freudian slip, and…

Freudian slip, and apparently no way to edit my post.  So I'll do my best to make it through the workday on Thursday.  And hey, my daughter comes home on Monday from a year in Hungary!  Extra reason to celebrate!

06/29/2018 - 11:08pm The fireworks purchasing…

The fireworks purchasing begins tomorrow for me, and the booming soon after.  I love this holiday!  Wednesday be damned, we're having a bunch of people over anyway, and we'll do our best to make it through the workday on Friday.  Go 4th and bang me!

06/26/2018 - 11:49pm Welcome aboard, Mazi!

Welcome aboard, Mazi!

I love these posts, the pictures, and the history lessons.  It would be fun to watch a football game today.

06/19/2018 - 8:04pm Thanks, Seth, for putting so…

Thanks, Seth, for putting so much work into this and keeping all of us informed about the progress.  I admit to pretty much dropping off the site when 3.0 showed up and I immediately couldn't log in.  I probably didn't come back for the better part of a week.  But then I took a peek, and I waited a while and tried again.  And now I'm checking a couple of times a day.  Still not near the usage from a month or two ago, but I'm heading in the right direction.  By Notre Dame day?  I imagine the addiction will be back in full swing!

06/18/2018 - 7:56pm I want to be there.  Crap, I…

I want to be there.  Crap, I'm in Kansas.

06/17/2018 - 1:25pm From an mgomom, Happy Father…

From an mgomom, Happy Father's Day to all you dads.  You're making the world a better place, one family at a time.  Dads are so underappreciated in society these days; I'm grateful for my own dad's influence in my life (he's been gone since 2009) as well as so many others.  Enjoy the food and beverage of your choice, and feel the love.

06/10/2018 - 10:03pm You have twenty million…

You have twenty million points.  You don't need my upvote.  But you earned it.  Sensible advice which I often got from my mother -- be patient and don't speak most of what you're thinking.  By Notre Dame, I'll probably know my way around here pretty well.

06/09/2018 - 10:27pm I'm one of those people for…

I'm one of those people for whom change is difficult.  I'm grateful for the site, and the free content.  I'm grateful for the faint glimpse of HTTV on the horizon.  I'm grateful for a group of genuinely great guys and phenomenal writers who labor over my entertainment week after week.

But it's going to take me a while to get comfortable here.  I'm sure many things are better, and I'm not technically savvy enough to recognize them.  I just know my mgoblog routine is going to have to change.  It will be like doing my homework.  I'll make myself check mgoblog once a day, and I'll make myself click on a link I haven't clicked on before, or try out a function I haven't tried.  Over time, it will get easier.  Will I relapse into the mgoaddiction I had until last week?  Probably.  In time.

06/07/2018 - 6:04pm I've been anxiously awaiting…

I've been anxiously awaiting this event for far too long.  The best part of off-season!  Now I can relax and wait for my summer reading material.  Thanks for taking my money!  I love everything you guys do (except for that one horribad blog site).

06/05/2018 - 7:14pm I'm way too excited about…

I'm way too excited about the kickstarter and HTTV, and I want to upvote a bunch of people in this thread, but I can't figure out how.  Well, crap.  Consider yourselves upvoted!

06/02/2018 - 10:22am To be fair, I'm assuming most

To be fair, I'm assuming most of the posts are following the single criterion listed, which is that the music/singer/performer "does for you what you need them to do for you".  While GOAT is listed in the title, in most cases it isn't necessarily the most talented performer who fills a personal need.

06/02/2018 - 9:54am Loving this thread

Some favorites of mine that I haven't seen listed (although I'm nodding with a lot of the ones I've read):

Paul Simon

Eric Carmen

Melissa Manchester

Yeah, I'm one of the old people on here.

06/02/2018 - 9:30am Congratulations to the happy couple!

Wishing them many years of celebrating blue national championships with each other and their offspring.

And...it's just a normal weekend for me, but isn't that enough for a bang?

05/30/2018 - 10:25pm I would add that perhaps the

I would add that perhaps the asterisk belongs next to the words "mid teens", and not next to the adage about time being more valuable than money.  Perhaps teenagers from a divided family, for a few years, were enticed by the flash of affluence.  But I imagine that even those very teens would have craved their parents' time when they were younger, and I'd like to see what they said and thought a few years later, when they reached adulthood.  I've never met anyone from a wealthy background who looked back and said, "I'm so glad my parents gave me a bunch of stuff and didn't try to spend any time with me."

05/28/2018 - 1:53pm Thanks to the true leaders

Thanks to the true leaders and best for the freedom we all enjoy and take for granted far too often.  Remembering several family members as I gather with friends and family this evening.

05/25/2018 - 11:56pm What a great offer!  Too true

What a great offer!  Too true about wanting them near.  One of my daughters is spending two years in Hungary; thank God for technology that lets us see and talk to her! The rest are nearby, and the college sophomore is still living at home.  But on those occasions when they all gather back in the living room for food and games, my heart overflows.

05/25/2018 - 7:13pm I keep seeing this "99 days"

I keep seeing this "99 days" thing.  But how many days until HTTV?  Like an oasis in the off-season wilderness.  Until then, I guess a bang or two won't hurt.  Go blue, mgoworld!

05/25/2018 - 7:01pm Congratulations!

Just be there, in person, as much as you can.  My four kids laugh about their dad always saying "together, together, together!", whenever one of us would suggest going off to do something solo.  You can't re-make the memories, so be there, and pay attention.

My four are 26, 24, 22, and 19, and man it went by fast.

05/25/2018 - 6:53pm I'd love to meet you and the

I'd love to meet you and the mgowife someday, XM.  I imagine they get it from both sides.  I was one of 12 children, all 12 college graduates.  My four kids are now adults, and the youngest (a college sophomore) is the only one without a degree.

That said, there are more important things than typical "smarts".  My husband has no post-high school education, but he taught my children how to weld, work on a car (or a tractor), harvest hay, butcher livestock, and so much more that I would never have been able to do.  I think the advice to "be present in your child's life", and especially to spend more time with them than anyone you pay to do that job, is crucial.

05/21/2018 - 9:08pm Help me out

What do I need to Google to get this on my page?  /s

05/21/2018 - 8:37pm Team No Gall Bladder here,

Dang it, I did NOT push that key twice!  Oh well, twice the good wishes, Ace.

05/21/2018 - 8:36pm Team No Gall Bladder here,

Team No Gall Bladder here, too.  Life got a lot better once it was gone (and the shoulder pain subsided -- man, that was brutal).  Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery, with the best health of your life ahead of you.  And.....HTTV!!!!

I loved those Superman movies, and especially the soundtrack LP.  This makes me sad.  Rest in peace, Margot.

05/13/2018 - 6:26pm I didn't like upvoting that.

I didn't like upvoting that.  I'm so sorry.  Life is precious and fragile.

05/13/2018 - 5:23pm I love being part of this

I love being part of this community through bad times (ahemDaveBrandoncough) and good (all hail Beilein & Harbaugh).  Here's to the glory days ahead.  Go blue, beat all the bad guys, and bang bang!  (And happy Mother's Day to all the other moms out there)

05/12/2018 - 9:58am Well, thanks!

Very nice of you.  Happy weekend!

05/11/2018 - 7:44am Your first sentence is inaccurate

"Just when you thought it was done"?  No, I don't think anyone outside East Lansing thinks that, and even there it's only a dim hope.  The rest of us know it's only chickens coming home to roost, one or two at a time.  There are a lot more yet to land.

05/07/2018 - 8:12pm Did you read as far as, uh, the title?

"Michigan Commit Karsen Barnhart may not be a Three Star Much Longer"

05/06/2018 - 10:17pm We sell them, but only

We sell them, but only occasionally as pets, because we don't remove the horns.  Most of them actually are sold for meat; there's a small but very appreciative middle-Eastern community that provides regular business.  A few are sold for milk, and we've got a man coming to look at a couple of males next week for breeding.

When I refer to the orphaned kid as a "pet", I mean that she was bottle raised in the living room, sleeping in a playpen, and she considers us her parents.  She won't be sold.

I remember slogging through the manure as a child in boots that were too big, rounding up cows who didn't want to go where they were directed.  And I remember using the dry patties as bases when we played baseball.  You don't slide into home!

05/06/2018 - 9:06pm Oh, and XM, I love your

Oh, and XM, I love your farming stories.  You should do a diary just of those adventures.  I would read it.  :-)

05/06/2018 - 8:56pm I grew up with a few cows,

I grew up with a few cows, chickens and rabbits, and pigs.  Just a hobby farm.  I thought I hated it, but as an adult, I've ended up raising pygmy goats (keeping two to three dozen at a time), plus the usual farm dogs and cats -- and one orphaned pygmy goat who is now a pet.  It was a pretty good supplement to the homeschooling curriculum.

05/05/2018 - 11:16pm If only these teams would

If only these teams would crater on the field as effectively as they fall apart ethically, the world would finally be put to rights.  I hope we pummel them the way they deserve to be pummeled this fall.

05/05/2018 - 12:17am Best wishes from Kansas,

Best wishes from Kansas, Ace.  And.....did he say he was writing articles for the preview magazine??  Is it bad that I got really, really excited about that?  HTTV!!
