Ohio State fan makes THE Bet!

I recently joined a new company in the last 90 days.  The culture turns out to be VERY aggressive in regards to anyone's sports fandom.  My first week on the sales "webinar" meeting being casual Friday I wore my navy blue block M zipper pull up crew as I was warned in advance of the reaction this would have.  My direct boss is an Oklahoma State fan (somewhat ambivalent toward M) and the COO is an Arkansas fan so although more interested in slinging some NCAA tourney smack considering there most recent hoops run he is mostly wanting to stir the pot.  The President and founder is a die hard ND fan so he has pure contempt for M and boldly pointed out Juwan Howards slap to which I retort "Deckland Sullivan only wishes he was slapped by Brian Kelly" and that ended that discussion.

This left one of my contemporary of equal footing (the other is based is a UCF grad another BYU) based out of Columbus with his wall of Buckeye memorandum and plastic encased NCAA championship signed football in his backdrop to offer up, "Not sure why you have anything to say considering the rivalry" to which I ended the conversation and the call by declaring, "Considering the scoreboard I have somewhere between 42-27 reasons to say something!"  This continues for a few more weeks until eventually this cell block H realizes I am not anyone's sports bitch and I will bloody your nose if you make a run at me.

I am currently at a conference in Orlando Florida (Gaylord Hotel direct message me if you want to come over to the booth and meet F2F) meeting everyone on the team in person for the first time.  Everyone is getting along until an IU customer/fan comes to the booth and starts on the glory days of when they dominated M and Oiho in basketball 15 years ago.  Buckeye fan cant resist and again I have to bloody his nose reminding him it's been almost 900 days since M lost to Oiho in football.  Bucknut Jr. says, "I have $500 that says Oiho beats M in C-Bus this year by 21."  Without hesitation I immediately offer up my hand to take that bet.  Bucknut Jr. pulls back his hand saying "I have to think about that."  I tell him, "Please going forward just dont run your mouth, the cold is no excuse the SNOW is no excuse (all came from his mouth) Oiho got there ass kicked and next time you offer up a wager be a man and cash the checks your mouth writes."  He immediately offers up his hand and says, "I will go $100!"  I shake immediately.

With 21 points in hand for $100 I tell him I will do him a favor.  Instead of 21 points I will take it down to just 10 points but you give me 5 to 1 odds.  I try to reason with him that if he is 21 points confident I am being a sucker and handing him an easy $100.

If you are currently at the Gaylord Hotel for the ALA conference and would like to help me goad and coax Bucknut Jr. into giving me 5 to 1 odds or being man enough to keep the bet he originally offered for 21 points on $500 message me and I will message you back.

At dinner with all of our peers I am about to offer to finance up to $5,000 in bets with his Bucknut friends who are willing to bet Oiho covers 21 points in their toilet bowl stadium.

Next time just hit him with one of these:

Or, better yet, when shaking his hand, use your other hand to punch him in the bucknuts.

Brory sto cool.

Does your company have any time for business, what with all the trash talking & nose bloodying & wager recalibrating? Not to mention a new employee jabbing the founder of the company.

Hmmm. Well. I have always maintained a pretty strict barrier that keeps my personal life from my professional one. Has made my interpersonal dealings at either a workplace or in a business meeting much simpler.

Regardless? Hopefully, this works out well for your bet! ;-)

Sounds like you belong with the worst part of my fan base if you want to bloody someone’s nose over a little banter. Or maybe I read that wrong. Either way I hope you all get along!

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended.
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I'm an honest PeacefulBuck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the PeacefulBuck a liar call:
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.

Wow you are the bro-iest bro in the history of bros. I’m all for friendly trash talk but it seems like you take it way too seriously. Does your company sell douches?

I know it's folly to try and pull specific things out of this tire fire but...

The President and founder is a die hard ND fan so he has pure contempt for M and boldly pointed out Juwan Howards slap to which I retort "Deckland Sullivan only wishes he was slapped by Brian Kelly" and that ended that discussion.

Listen, I think how Brian Kelly and Notre Dame handled that whole situation was atrocious, but if you're scoring rivalry points on a kid's death, your boss isn't the problem here.  Maybe it's time to take a step back?
