McNamara crystal ball to Iowa

Iowa insider David Eickholt gave a 7 confidence crystal ball pick for Cade to Iowa. Most picks are usually a 5 or 6. For him to go to 7 makes me think he may know something considering he covers Iowa.

Cade is gonna need quite a bit of help at Iowa and it does not appear as though he’s going to get it any time soon.

The West is bad enough that I could see Iowa getting to Indy, which is more than we could say with Rudock, but that’s their ceiling. And as far as individual impact/stats, it’s really hard to see Cade beating 64% completions for 3,017 yards and 20 TDs at Iowa.

Yeah that offense is just useless but their QB play leaves a lot to be desired. I could see Cade at least making them respectable. That defense has been wasted on unimaginative nepotism within their coaching ranks. Best of luck where he goes but I would wait until some of the post-season games play out.

Cade is definitely an upgrade over what they have, so it’s a good pickup for Iowa. I just don’t think it’s a good move for Cade. He’s not really putting himself in the best situation to succeed.

Iowa’s OL isn’t going to protect him and he doesn’t have the mobility to compensate for that. Iowa doesn’t have a great running game to pull pressure off of Cade. And they don’t have weapons on the outside for Cade to utilize. Cade doesn’t have the arm talent to really create offense. At the end of the day he is a game manager and in the right situation, he can be an effective QB.

Cade could have done better than Iowa.

Unless he knows B Ferentz is on his way out, I cannot fathom wanting to go there.

Edit: Just got an ESPN update on my phone saying it's official.

Lots of people saying it, ESPN isn't one of them (as of 1950 EST)

Just depends on what kind of pass heavy offense. Put him in an Air Raid/Run and Shoot offense and he’d be fine. Especially considering those offenses rely heavily on pre-snap reads from the QB. They’re designed for short quick passes so throwing downfield and flashing arm strength wouldn’t be a big part of his duties anyway.

Pass heavy doesn’t inherently mean throwing the ball downfield a bunch.

Go to a Pac 12 school next year after Caleb Williams, Bo Nix and Micheal Penix leave. Should be plenty of opportunities to slot right in and play. He certainly doesn't have the arm but he always reminded me of a poor man's Drew Brees who reads defenses well and takes what the defense gives you.
