And just like that...
Stalk much?
I noticed this a couple weeks ago on Twitter, so it isn’t brand new today. Haven’t seen it mentioned until now, so those in the know haven’t really given it much thought it appears.
I'm usually not one to fuel the Twitter-sleuths but he’s also removed all the other Michigan-related stuff that was on his profile. His cover photo used to be him in a Michigan jersey, now it’s a photo of a globe with the saying, ‘The World Is Yours.’ Doesn’t seem like a great sign.
Okay, a little hypotethetical. You get to pick two:
A. Josh Christopher
B. Isaiah Todd
C. Isaiah Livers comes back
For next year give me A and C even though Todd probably has the best pro career potential.
Playing your game, I pick A and C too.
But I think Josh C has the game of a future perennial NBA All-star. I know Ant Wright said he sees another Stevie Francis in Christopher. And while that's a good comparison, I see a lot of Dwyane Wade's game in Josh C.
This was the exact comp - D Wade - I used when describing his game to friends tonight when we were dicussing the departure of DDJ
I'd choose A, then C, then B, with a much larger gap between C and B than there is between A and C. I think Livers is a better player than Christopher, but Josh fills a bigger need on next year's roster than Isaiah does.
Who knows with any of this stuff. He's a teenager locked up inside without the ability to play basketball or make a meaningful decision on his future. Maybe it means nothing, maybe it is a way to mess with us, or maybe he's choosing a different path.
To me, Christopher and Livers are more important to our success next year than Todd. As much raw talent as Todd has (I highly recommend the 20-thoughts piece on UMHoops), he is also a kid that needs a lot of coaching. Strange as this might sound, I could see him being used a little like Izzo used Jaren Jackson - only 20-22mpg, roll with him when he's hot and has a good matchup to exploit, play the veterans when he's struggling or in a tough matchup. I hope he ends up at UM, but I've prepared myself for all possibilities with him on and off the court at this point.
Christopher, meanwhile, has a more obvious path to playing time and making an immediate impact while also not having a proven, viable alternative on the roster.
We aren't getting A if we don't get B
According to whom? I don't follow recruiting much but haven't heard that Christopher is mostly interested in Michigan because of Todd.
Josh is going to have the best NBA career with the highest upside and fits the best need for Michigan next year imo.
Didn't Isaiah Todd recently do the sitcom-style opening with the other commits?
This is one of the reasons that I don't follow recruiting.
Yet, here you are
Not a ton of sports news, you know? Weird.
I'm with timmmaay. Recruiting has become so fucking ridiculous in this era of college sports. People who pay for "inside" information need help. In the end, we all get the same information, that being who signs letters of intent and who doesn't. That is all that matters, actually. What doesn't matter is when a coach has an in-home visit or when a recruit visits a particular school.
He had Michigan related things on Twitter as recently as late last week.
Translation: It is over.
At least if you’re going to be a troll, be a better one. You’re just shitty at it. You should feel bad
Him and Christopher may both end up here but I have always wondered why Calipari backed off of two top 15 5 star players so early.
Maybe he’s just tired of everybody saying he’s not going to Michigan and is gonna play overseas, so he’s messing with y’all.
This is Todd we're talking about, not Christopher.
Not saying I know the two guys, but I highly doubt that Todd pulls something like this just for fun. He's been telling everyone forever that he's coming to Michigan, and that he's really excited to do so.
I'd suspect that mom found an alternative route for him.
Well I wouldn't call it a good sign.
And we are surprised because.....
This ain’t it. A teenager who is active on social media will change their bio semi-regularly.
Will they delete their commitment video semi-regularly? I think not, unfortunately.
Yeah him deleting his commitment video from his Instagram is the most telling thing to me. I can understand changing Bios and all, but what's the point in going back months to delete your commitment video if you aren't leaving?
Someone on UM Hoops just said he unfollowed all the coaches.
Sadly, he gone.
He's still following Saddi, Sam Web, Michigan's official basketball twitter account, as well as several other Michigan affiliated accounts. I would be more worried about him deleting his commitment video from months ago on Instagram
Ah gotcha. Yeah, definitely concerning. Not looking good.
Is he now? I just checked and the only guy he's following UM-related is Jaron Faulds
Yeah you're right, just Faulds...
Pretty much everything about roster management in college basketball sucks now. The NCAA and NBA need to work something out.
I normally wouldn't be too worried about this, but he also deleted his commitment video and I don't see his retweet of the 2020 Michigan Family Matters TikTok anymore, so I'm pretty worried
Aaaaand he unfollowed everyone besides Terrance Williams and Jaron Faulds
He also tweeted retweeted a link of how TikTok is a chinese owned company that basically steals personal information.
Maybe his family’s financial situation changed due to COVID-19?
Spending a year overseas might make more sense for Todd than spending a year Michigan does. Going overseas allows him to make some money right away, focus 100% of his time on basketball, find a roster fit that will guarantee him minutes, and will probably have a negligible, in any, effect on his draft stock (guys like Afernee Simons, Darius Bazley, and RJ Hampton were all ranked lower than Todd coming out of high school, skipped college, and still were or are about to be 1st round picks). At Michigan he’d have to go to class, wait a year to earn any money, and compete for minutes in a loaded front court (assuming Livers returns), and risk being picked apart by scouts in the states.
What if the plan all year was for Livers to go pro and Todd was going to come in and start. Obviously Juwan planned for several departures the way he was recruiting. Now with the injuries and season cancellation Livers is leaning more towards coming back. So now the coaches had to say hey I know we promised you a starting role but now we think you’ll be behind Livers. So he didn’t like that and they decided to part ways. Lots of speculation obviously. But he seemed like he was all in up until today.
That's certainly plausible, but wouldn't that play out only after Livers pulled out of the draft? It just seems too early for that to be the reason.
Yeah just trying to think what could have changed, which I’m speculating that Livers is now leaning towards coming back, without pulling his name out. He said he wants guaranteed money and maybe he’s just now realizing he’s not getting that in any of the mocks. We’ve heard of lot of the rumored departures confirm now they are coming back (Davis, Nunez, DDJ). I won’t go so far as to say Todd is getting processed, just that maybe both sides are realizing he isn’t going to get as many minutes as the original plan. If Juwan promised him 30 min a game that’s going to be a hard promise to keep.
Has Greg Brown committed to a school yet?
No, but it's a foregone conclusion that he's headed to Texas. If Livers comes back, losing Todd hurts but isnt a disaster. Still would have Livers, Johns and Terrance Williams at the 4.
Relax, he still puts his pants on one 39 inch inseam leg at a time.
Rumor DDJ gonna be gone to. On UMHOOPS
That's been a rumor for a while, but it doesn't make much sense honestly
I get it. If Christopher does commit, DDJ's gonna not have a ton of opportunity between Brooks and Christopher. He probably wants to command starter's minutes, and he's just not that caliber guy.
I like him a lot as a player. Tough, plays hard, has swagger. But offensively, he doesn't bring a ton to the floor.
He’d still get a lot of minutes. More than this year, and more than sitting out a year by transferring. Having 3 guys for 2 spots means they’d all be getting starters minutes even the guy who doesn’t start.
Dude on UMHoops who says he is DDJ uncle said he's gone. He said he was his Uncle like 3 years ago so I doubt this is a massive, years long troll.
If UM pulls in the Harvard guard transfer I would think DDJ would be #4 behind Brooks, Harvard guy, and Christopher (if he goes to UM).
