In 2018, OSU needed Maryland’s QB to miss a wide open receiver on a potential game-winning 2 point conversion to escape.
They put up 63 the next week on Michigan’s defense.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
Yeah. One game is not the same as the other. This team made plays with key players missing in the fourth quarter. Felt like a classic NFL game.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:07 PM ^
Maybe OSU is saving all their points for next week? They are losing and getting pushed around pretty good.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
If Corum, Edwards and Schoonmaker are active, this is a different offense. The running game took a big step back without Corum and Edwards, and the passing game was not strong today. Cornelius Johnson had a decent game, though, and Wilson made some plays. Something to build off and fingers crossed that our top three offensive players return next week. Hopefully, Corum returns in a similar fashion like Chase Brown did this week for Illinois after an injury scare. I really hope Edwards was held out as a precaution and is good to go. Stokes and Gash (great first down today!) aren’t going to cut it against OSU.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:10 PM ^
It isn't just a bad game, people keep saying that. Our passing offense has looked exactly as inept as today for the last four weeks
November 19th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
I don't agree at all last few weeks JJ has missed his deep ball long and otherwise been OK if a little lackluster.
This week he was just God awful
November 19th, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
Maryland leads them at the half...
November 19th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
Counter Punt was right this week.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:21 PM ^
I suppose if you run it every week of every game, every year, it will right at least once.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
Cade is the better QB. That’s my snowflake
November 19th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
You can accept they made the wrong decision at the beginning of the season and move on. It is what it is at this point.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:54 PM ^
You too. Time to move on. Your constant bitching about the 23-2 record you have been exposed to his annoying.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:04 PM ^
Internet tough guy, This Buds for you.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
Why keep bringing this up over and over again. Did both players not get fair shake in the first few games? They made the wrong decision? How do you know that? This team is 11-0. No need to keep bringing up Cade and have others having to defend JJ or put down Cade. Cade had an excellent year last year. JJ has made it this far with a winning record. Let us see what he does next week. Leave it at that.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:32 PM ^
Isn’t the Cade v. JJ debate silly at this point? Cade is injured and hasn’t been able to play since week 3.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
I don't know if I would go that far, but Cade was money against OSU last year. No deep ball to speak of, but damn good in the short and medium range game.
That said, our receivers aren't doing JJ any favors.
I would feel a bit better about next week if he was at least available as the #2.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
Not sure what you mean by "no deep ball to speak of" because Cade did hit a couple deep throws in the OSU game last year. The ball to Johnson comes to mind immediately.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:22 PM ^
Would have been nice to have him warming up in the bullpen today.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:29 PM ^
You don't actually believe this.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:47 PM ^
I don’t know about him, but I do. Always have.
JJ is a good thrower of the ball and a good runner of the ball, but somehow isn’t a good quarterback. His decisions-making has always verged on disastrous, and he holds onto the ball way too long. I would take him in a 7-on-7 competition, no doubt. But I would have gone with McNamara, and stuck with him unless he played his way out of the job.
JJ has always struck me as more of a tabula rasa for fans to project their five star hopes onto rather than an actual player. Hopefully, by the time he is done here, those people will be proven right.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:32 PM ^
At Michigan Harbaugh quarterbacks all start exciting and trend towards Brad Johnson until they are replaced and the process repeats. JJ, Cade, Shea, JJade, Shade, Chea, it’s all one.
November 19th, 2022 at 7:00 PM ^
Even with a bum leg? What ?
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
Was a shining example of our problems in the WR room
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
Hire Brian Ferentz!
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
They did enough. Win and move on. Good game.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
JJ just said they're better than last year.
He's not even better than Cade.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
Technically this team is better than last year because they have not lost a game and they beat MSU.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:42 PM ^
No, they're not. Schedule is much easier (nobody in non-conf and the Big Ten itself is way down this year). MSU is wayyyyy worse than they were last year too.
November 19th, 2022 at 7:01 PM ^
Cade is physical unable to go. Maybe you should marry cade
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
lots of blame on coaches.
coaches don't teach QBs to throw poorly.
And the McNamara/McCarthy QB change has proven to be a mistake.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
"Coaches don't teach technique" has to be the hottest take of the day.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:14 PM ^
Well I'm pretty sure EC is like 15 years old so it tracks
November 19th, 2022 at 3:51 PM ^
Coaches are supposed to teach QBs to throw well.
November 19th, 2022 at 7:04 PM ^
Not really at this level. Most of the coaching is from private QB coaches. There is a famous story about Mike Leach being asked by his QB1 if he was supposed to take a 3 or 5 step drop and the answer was whatever gets the ball out and accurate. Legendary among S Cal QB coaching industry.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:26 PM ^
That's a horrible take. McCarthy earned that job and is the better QB. He sucked today no doubt, but Cade did nothing this season to suggest it was a mistake. We won today missing A LOT of dudes. 11-0 heading into Columbus and you think we have been playing the wrong QB?
November 19th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
It wasn't pretty but it was just enough. JJ was off on many passes and then there were key dropped passes. Missing Corum really hurt in the 2nd half.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
I think I'm entitled to compensation for my cardiologist bills.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
Bitches, all of you.
No Corum. No Edwards.
Still gut out a win.
Great job. Corum and Edwards are playing next week.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
Saying that they're playing is almost as dumb as people saying that they're not playing. You have no idea.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
They said pre-game Edward’s could have gone today.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:42 PM ^
I somehow doubt that, because if it's true, why did they not bring him in in the 4th quarter when we were losing, snd were playing a 4th string running back.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:47 PM ^
Because he didn’t dress?
November 19th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
This is one of those wins I never go back and watch again.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:43 PM ^
I didn’t watch, but may delete the recoding. Watching on the Fox app was stressful enough.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
Watch the opening drive and then fast forward to the 4th quarter. That should make for an enjoyable viewing experience.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:04 PM ^
If you watch this game you may have your face melt off like in Raiders of the Lost Ark
November 19th, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
I haven’t rewatched a game all year. The offense gives very few big plays in the pass game. It’s just ground and pound all the time. Happy to win, but was hoping for an explosive offense this year given all the weapons. I enjoy the film break downs afterward because it shows there’s a method to the madness, but in general, this team on offense is boring to watch on the surface. Kind of like enjoying marvel movies more than Oscar award winning movies maybe I’m too low brow to get it.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
J.J. either doesn't see open receivers or he can't make an accurate throw or the receiver can't catch it.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:54 PM ^
So much inept offense, play calling and execution is not good.
Dropped passes, wide open receivers not thrown to and what the hell was that play call on third down at the end of the game. Totally idiotic!!!!!
