How Did Milton Beat Out Mccaffrey?
First off, if you were one of those people who built a Milton statue after his first start, shame on you. JOK and Brandon Peters should have been just a couple of recent lessons that taught you otherwise.
For real though, how bad was McCaffrey that he lost to THIS GUY?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:05 PM ^
Simply put. Coaches are clueless...
November 14th, 2020 at 10:05 PM ^
He got to practice against our defense is my only guess
November 14th, 2020 at 11:01 PM ^
Bingo.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
I am not saying you’re wrong but is this really your takeaway from tonight?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:10 PM ^
Actually, kinda
Dbs have been better (low bar), pass rush looks better (low bar), receivers have been the same. O-line has been passable, only Milton has looked like he's really regressed this week
November 14th, 2020 at 10:15 PM ^
Okay I see your point.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
He didn’t.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
cause you touch yourself at night
November 14th, 2020 at 10:07 PM ^
Milton has struggled but there appears to be way bigger problems than joe Milton
November 14th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
McCaffrey at least was a legit running threat. Furthermore, No way in the world Joe Milton runs a 4.6.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:26 PM ^
He looks slower each game and actually scared to run which is a shame at 6"5 240
November 14th, 2020 at 10:42 PM ^
On a track, maybe. Probably even. But he's so unsure and so hesitant on the field, it doesn't matter how fast his top end is.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:43 PM ^
Yep. Bigger problems like: culture, coaching and organization.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:07 PM ^
We may be the dumbest team in America too
November 14th, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
One thing about Harbaugh...he seems less planned and methodical and more impulsive. I've always wondered about the Gattis hiring. From initial conversation to hiring in 24 hours? He'd never met the man. Did he think through the implications of speed and space? Was he committed? Or did he just drift back to the same old slow paced Manball thing?
And McCaffrey? I bet things were going smoothly for him to become the starter and then, kind of out of the blue, Harbaugh shows up and tells him he's out.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:08 PM ^
I hate to even wonder this, but I wonder if this Summer’s events had any impact on it.
Dylan was getting snaps last yr and well ahead of Milton, then suddenly he’s behind and gone? It’s strange.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:45 PM ^
McCaffrey's are a football family. Wonder if they knew it was a hot mess this summer and just told Dylan to bail and preserve his remaining eligibility to go somewhere that had a clue what to do offensively.
November 15th, 2020 at 8:32 AM ^
I think you’re on to something
November 14th, 2020 at 10:08 PM ^
How many times can you get smoked by the same stupid play?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
He didn't beat him out and nothing will convince me otherwise. Stay woke Michigan
November 14th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
The QB competition was RIGGED!!!
November 14th, 2020 at 10:10 PM ^
He didn’t.
McCaffrey saw what this team was and decided it was in his best interest to bail during a year that didn’t count (Covid) so he could get an M degree, not get hurt, and can leave and have 2-3 years at another program that didn’t have their collective heads up their own asses.
Michigan is filled with 4* talent. Guys MSU and Iowa and Wisconsin would have featured on ESPN. But Michigan can’t motivate, can’t coach, can’t get players to get better and better each year they’re there
November 14th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
He didn’t. Stop. He knew.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
Harbaugh got lucky with Luck and Kap. He’s not a QB whisperer or anything even close.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
Be nice if our media could get insight into that question. 1-3 team, terrible offense, expected QB starter taking classes still, but not on the team. Crickets.....
November 14th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
oh, fuck yourself sideways. this isn’t on joe milton.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
Jim is doing the planning enough said.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
This a dumb question. Maybe DM left for other reasons. Ya think?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
McGrone never even turned around. They are poorly coached.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
Forgive me that I don’t remember where, but I saw a rumor the coaches gave Milton the job because McCaffrey went back to Colorado due to Covid while Milton stuck around the area and worked out with Gardner. No idea if it’s valid or not but it sounds plausible based upon this coaching staff.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
That just sounds like some poor deductive reasoning than anything. However, if that were to be true...yikes.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:26 PM ^
oh ffs. there’s still no end of bitching here about patterson golfing all summer. so patterson not showing commitment is a problem, and milton showing commitment is a problem. whatever, man.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
How on earth did I infer it was a “problem”? But *if* that rumor catches any part of the truth, don’t you think it’s crazy where players chose to spend their summer in the midst of a health pandemic was enough to name a starter before camp even got rolling?
November 14th, 2020 at 11:31 PM ^
well, you actually said that milton got the job because he stuck around ann arbor, and now you're defending mccaffrey, so yah. inferred.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
Go back to that diary of every snap from both of them. I said it was clear Dylan was better. A bunch of people clamored for Milton. Milton isn’t making reads right now. He decides where he’s going pre snap. His deep ball isn’t accurate enough to get away with it.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:14 PM ^
Another reason to fire the entire coaching staff. That was Gattis call. Dylan is on the team. Milton totally sucks. Fire everyone and put Dylan in charge.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:15 PM ^
Sam Webb hype job for the ages
November 14th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
Honestly, how in the hell did people buy this notion the third string QB suddenly became cam Newton in one summer amongst a raging pandemic?
November 15th, 2020 at 2:04 AM ^
Cam Newton was the 30th overall recruit.
Milton was ranked 30th. In the fucking State of Florida.
The choice of him being the QB was laughable.
All the players love him. A lot of clueless people on this roster.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:50 PM ^
I think that's exactly what the coaches were feeding him. They're usually most effusive about non-freshmen who don't play well but they desperately need (e.g., Jeter). But he should be more aware of that kind of talk.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:16 PM ^
This is on the coaches. Cade can throw darts, yet Milton started.... yikes.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
Hmm, the Nevada state record holder and we put the career 50% passer out there. Its so Harbaugh
November 14th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
How did he beat out Cade? /s...kind of
November 14th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
Hell, I'm wondering how he beat out Cade.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:18 PM ^
Lol.... interesting accuracy means more than arm strength. The kid who set passing records in high school looks slightly better than the kid who couldnt even complete 50% in high school
November 14th, 2020 at 10:19 PM ^
If Cade keeps playing like this it will make Harbaugh and his staff look really bad that him and McAffrey fell behind Milton.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:24 PM ^
Well Jim Harbaugh told Herbstreit before the Minnesota game that Erik All was going to be the best TE in Michigan history, so that tells you a little something about his talent evaluation skills.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:27 PM ^
There HAS To be a story behind Milton beating out McCafferty right? Something doesn’t pass the smell test here. Unless it’s a case were Milton is a practice superstar, but when there’s an actual different team on the other side he clams up and panics
November 16th, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
anybody seen or heard about this? Got this off of reddit
From what I’ve read through people who claim to have insider info on MGoBlog, DMC was ahead of Milton in camp and then got sick. He told coaches about being sick and Harbaugh tried to toughen him up and force DMC through workouts and practices for a few days while he was sick. DMC told his parents, they told DMC to take a day off so he did and coaches were mad and put Milton on top of the depth chart for good. DMCs dad had a conversation with Harbaugh about it and they basically agreed DMC would opt out, finish the semester and transfer out west. I’ve read Nebraska and Northern Colorado are presumed leaders for DMC.

You will never convince me! And I will always wonder what could of been?!
