Hot take & snowflake: OU/LSU is a preview of UM/Bama

Submitted by MGrether on December 28th, 2019 at 8:00 PM

So... watching LSU year up OU made me turn back to look at the schedule:

- LSU (46) Alabama (41)

- LSU (23) Auburn (20)

I have a feeling that unless Bama really loses their focus, we better prepare to feel like OU vs LSU. Fighting hard, but after a mistake and bad ref break, staring down a looong and growing deficit.

I really wish we had a better matched bowl opponent like Iowa or PSU. Why, Bama... why?

What makes you think Michigan will score 28 vs Bama?  The new offense that took 7 games to straighten out?

Have you seen how Clemson of all teams has a goose egg on the board vs Ohio State right now?  We scored 27 despite costly mistakes.  The most any team scored on Ohio State all year.  We have a chance and I'd say 28 points is my prediction for how much we score vs Bama.

Now, can we hold them under 28?  I think no but we have a shot, at least.

We get run over just like the Wisconsin and OSU games. Their O-line won't be sitting for the NFL draft and our D-line is too small.  They will run for 300+ yards.  If their NFL draft bound skill players sit, we lose by 25-30, if their NFL bound skill players don't sit, we lose the first half by 25-30, just like Oklahoma tonight.

Our D-line is not up to this task unfortunately.  I don't think we have an edge at any position on the field except maybe special teams.

It’s not going to be that bad.  There are plays to be made against Alabama’s secondary, especially with Collins and DPJ.

But I also saw Bama’s backup put up around 350 passing yards and 4 TDs on the road against what I think is a better defense than what Michigan has. Hill, Thomas and Metellus are going to get eaten alive against what is probably the deepest WR Corp Alabama has ever had.

I think the offense will make some plays, but this has got 49-28 Alabama written all over it. I have a very hard time seeing Michigan hold up in the trenches against an extremely good Alabama offensive line. Najee is going to fucking run wild on Wednesday afternoon.

This sounds about right, unfortunately. I will, of course, be delighted to be wrong.

A minor note: I don't think Hill and Thomas will get embarrassed by Bama's receivers, but whomever is covering the third guy (you know, someone like... Jalen Waddle) is going to get torched like dry brush in a wildfire. I would expect Metellus to get roasted at least a couple of times (pay no attention to people who get upset at the idea of a safety ever covering a wide receiver, though) and for a couple of quality photographs of Vincent Gray watching for two yards away as Bama receivers catch the ball for big plays.

Michigan is going to give up serious points. A scenario where Michigan wins isn't impossible, but it's unlikely, and it involves some unexpected but key defensive stops and the offense putting on a performance that reminds us of Lloyd Carr's last game.

It will be bad. Gattis will perform well until Bama adjusts. The defense on the other hand will get battered and thrown over, under, and whatever the hell they want to do. Brown may adjust by 4th

Bring it, ass clown!  You’re a pathetic, whining CUNT who doesn’t deserve to be a Michigan fan.  I’ll tell it to your face, text it to you, tell you over the phone, email it to you, fuck I’d pay a mothetfucking sky writer to paint it in the fucking sky over your house and there ain’t shit you’d do about it cuz you’re nothing but a whining CUNT!

So... Looking at your hs gpa and test scores I have a feeling you didn't get into Michigan and now you're trolling to try to compensate for your lack of intelligence.

Why do people feel like they have to protect their ego by convincing themselves that UofM is going to get blown out. Own your fucking team. Don't be such a bitch. You only can be the best by beating the best. Its such a LOSERS mentality. It also makes you come off as a soft weak person. This is a great opportunity for Michigan re-write some narratives. Yes, UM could get blown out. But don't use it as deflection to give yourself sanity after a loss. If you need to do that you are a mentally unstable human being who should probably not be watching sports.

Well said.  The number of people in here engaged a “Most BPONE Contest” is truly pathetic and bordering on pathological.  Nobody beats themselves with knotted ropes like Michigan fans.  They claim that love the program and yet all they do is predict doom and shit on everyone associated with it, and who expresses optimism.

Case in point from SC above.

Here's a thought, root for your team and let other fans do the bashing.  Our role is to believe and support the team, not peddle this pathetic defeatist bullshit.

Whine and cry when the game is over, not before.

and there’s a difference between thinking a win might be a struggle due to the opponent’s talent, and continually shitting on the program and predicting a blowout.

Do I think we can beat Alabama?  Absolutely ... if we play our best football and the players make some big plays.  Can we stand toe to toe with them and exchange punches?  I don’t think so.  The team is going to have limit the mistakes and take advantage of all the opportunities that present themselves.
